I would say Prima was purpose built for Warm weather not cold.  The TA last Sept had cold/windy/rainy weather the entire time and all outside areas were unusable.  I did use the race cars 3 times and the wind was so bad it felt like my helmet would be ripped off.  I didn't use the observation lounge once due to it being way too cold inside.

I’d take the cold over everyone’s bare feet all over every square inch of the lounge.

I was determined to make the most of it - did the slide once and a couple of the infinity pools. While the water was heated, getting out was brutal.

Really hoping this year’s TA provides a lot more opportunity to use all the amazing outdoor spaces.

From the deck plans, it looks like Prima does not seem to have large open air public spaces suitable for massive parties, similarly to Virgin ships.

Having been on the ship, that's correct. None of the indoor venues are all that spacious either, with the exception of the theater that converts into a decent sized night club.

They do not care about printed boarding times.  For this Sunday's sailing there will be just over 2,000 on the ship, so well under 1/2 capacity. The goal is to get everyone onboard as quickly and safely as possible.

How did you find out capacity of this sailing? I'll be on the sailing right after this one and would be interested in knowing.

The coffe is amazing, it's some of the best at sea. Segafredo, by Zanetti. Just disembarked yesterday and looking for that coffee online this morning.

Good to hear! And you were on the Meraviglia?

  5. First time on MSC - have a few questions about the spa for an upcoming 3 night cruise (tried searching but the search function here is having a meltdown). If anyone has recent experience and willingness to answer I'd appreciate the insight.

    1. I'm only seeing 2 body treatment options on the site/app to book ahead of time. "Traditional Balinese Massage" and "Bali Massage with Hot Lava Stones" ...will there be more offered once onboard?
    2. When booking pre-cruise it appears to take your money but you don't book a time. How does this work?
    3. Assuming access to the thermal area is not granted w/ purchase of treatment?
    4. Is the cost in fact lower when you pre-book (ex: currently $119 for the traditional massage)?

So what I've found so far is that I can't book more than one stateroom on a single itinerary.  I'd like to book for my parents and my wife and kid in two rooms.  It only allows one room per reservation at a time.

Yep, this is true and is the case for most cruise lines. I just booked 3 cabins, all separately.

    1. The only requirement is no swimwear in the dining room for any meal and no shorts, flip flops or tank tops on Elegant night. Otherwise shorts / t-shirts are allowed at dinner (at least on Meraviglia & Divina).

New to MSC... is there an 'Elegant Night' on every sailing? Even a 3-night cruise?

are you suggesting the existence of a Blue Moon Party?

That would be a fun addition, I guess.. everyone wears blue. They'd have to make it quite an extravagant event though as it would only happen once every couple of years. Just wondering if this Full Moon Party happens only on full moons as the event name suggests?

I'll be on her right after you.  I saw on one YouTube vlog that it appears as though they have virtual queues, which would make things much easier. (Maybe...in theory...) Can anyone confirm that or give details on how that works?  Thanks!

Yes, there are virtual queues on the app that allows you to 'get in line' for selected shows. With my experience though, you have about 5 minutes from the time you receive the notification (in the app, so keep it open and watch it!) to show up to the venue door until they release your spot and move to the next person in the queue.

    Hi Mast 3RN8....

I noticed your signature lists the Celebrity Ascent in Dec 2023.....are you on the maiden voyage?

Hey there, I did put a deposit down for that sailing but am doing the NCL Viva in November instead (unfortunately can't do both!)

Different topic:  If you current have one or several reservations with NCL, their current promotion (50%) has created a price drop for all my 4 bookings

    One has $100.00, 2 have $1000.00 and 1 has $1500 price drop

My PCC did adjust my reservations.

Current promotion expires in 31 hours

    Thanks for the heads up!

Question you'll likely know the answer to - I've read somewhere that you can only have your booking repriced only once - is this true or can you call every time you see a lower price?

On the christening cruise there was live music in the Atrium next to the Penrose Bar and in The Local Bar in front of the big screen. We didn´t have any live music in the Metropolitan Bar.

As I mentioned, after that cruise - the live music was moved out of The Local and into the Metro bar - nearly every day on the TA the solo guitar player and/or the duo played there. People complained about how loud the sound was.. fun fact: NCL corporate decides the volume, the entertainers don't.
