  1. We were just on the Equinox in late February/early March. We were in Aqua class and had chairs with adjustable backs and foot rests, similar to what we had in that same cabin on our last Equinox sailing in 2016. The table had been replaced with something much smaller and shorter that was really not suitable for eating at. We were a little disappointed by the change because we like to order room service breakfast on port days and eat it on our veranda as we sail in. We had to eat at the couch/coffee table instead. Looking at the other verandas while docked, it appears that only suites still have the larger/taller table now.

  2. I just canceled a 2019 cruise that I'd booked, and am wondering how long it will take for the refund of the deposit to hit my credit card. So far it's just been two days, but I don't know when to start worrying. It was a fully refundable fare, so the entire deposit should be coming back to me, it just hasn't yet :(

I just canceled a cruise on January 3. The refund showed up on my credit card on January 6.

  3. I live in Fort Myers and work in Naples. The damage here in SWFL was not nearly as bad as it could have been. Power has been restored everywhere already and things are more or less back to normal. There is a lot of destroyed vegetation and signage mostly. A few areas of Collier County, like Immokalee and Everglades City, had more significant damage. Depending on what you are planning to do with your time in Naples, you should be fine visiting at the end of November. They just may still be in the process of removing all the piles of vegetative debris. Right now they are estimating that may take a few more months to complete.

  4. Nice! I'll have to check there! Did you have a premium uncharge like cawags did?

They're not on the menu, but we spent quite a bit of time at the bar and the bartenders were awesome and offered to make a few off-menu drinks for us, so your mileage may vary.

My moscow mules were covered by my premium package. I did not have to pay an up charge.

  5. I agree that I would not bother with an A1 that is not on the hump. When we cruised on Silhouette, we picked one of the slightly aft A2s that was under the suites because the hump cabins were all booked. But I was willing to deal with the occasional slightly muffled music and chair scraping noises from the pool deck on our last cruise so that we could have that XL hump balcony ;)

  6. If you are a Captain's Club member, the A1 cabin costs the same as an A2. We'll book an A1 if it's on the slant of the hump with the extra large balcony. On our recent Equinox cruise, the pool deck noise wasn't that noticeable most of the time. We've also booked an A1 hump cabin for our upcoming Reflection cruise. Reflection has an extra deck so we will have a cabin above us instead of the pool, so it's definitely worth it on that ship.

  7. We have 1620 booked for our 11 night Reflection cruise in 2018. On our Equinox cruise in December, I switched cabins three times until I was finally able to get one of A1s on the slant of the hump. My husband totally didn't understand my cabin location obsession at all until we got on the ship. He loved the XL balcony and wanted to make sure that we booked a similar cabin for our next one.

    Enjoy your cruise!

I have been trying to run into you at the world class bar, maybe I've met you and just don't know it. We are usually there are each evening from five until six. And then again around 8 o'clock.

    Hey Bill,

Jeff and I usually go there every night, but generally around 6-7 or 9-10 (before and/or after dinner in Blu). We were the couple with the aqua class cabin from the cabin crawl. Maybe we'll bump into you there or elsewhere at some point over these last few days aboard.

  9. When we were on Eclipse, all drinks at World Class were covered by our premium package.

We're also aboard the Equinox right now and had a few drinks at World Class Bar last night. The menu is slightly different than the menu we had on Silhouette in March. Less drinks available. There are about 3 or 4 drinks that cost $15 and we did see the bartender charge someone the $2 difference for their drink. So it apparently varies a bit from ship to ship.

  10. Thank you for your advice!

    I just bought it!

Enjoy! We posed for every cheesy port photo and made the rounds of all the stations set up around the atrium every evening. Once the photographers found out we had the unlimited package, they would not let us pass up a single photo opportunity. lol

I don't know what stops your itinerary includes, but we even got photos of our zip line ride in Labadee included with our photo package, so that was a nice bonus :)

I recommend printing off your receipt and bringing it with you the first day when you visit the photo area. They set up a folder for you and each day you can go through the printed photos and bring them to one of the employees and they'll add them to your pile. You pick them all up with the disk on the last night on the cruise. If any of the printed photos are not showing up in your account on the kiosk, the staff can manually add them so that they'll be on your disk. The photos on the disk didn't have any of borders or watermarks that the printed ones did, so that was also nice.

  11. We pre-purchased the photo package for our honeymoon cruise in March 2016. We paid $199 for a 7 night cruise. The cheapest we ever saw it offered for on board was $249. We ended up with around 100 prints, so we thought it was worth it considering how much they charge for the individual photos.

That said, the quality of the photos did vary quite a bit from photographer to photographer. I'd say maybe a third of the photos were blurry or just unflattering. The rest turned out decently.

If you're considering it, I would book it now. I don't think you're very likely to get a better deal than that one once you're on board.

  12. On our 9 night Feb. cruise there were further discounts offered on embarkation, which along with our cc discount made it an even better deal (with the added plus that we could use OBC to pay for it, so in essence, it was free for unlimited wifi). We're going to wait and see what happens in Dec. and not book it ahead.

I generally wait to book things until we're onboard, but we only qualify for 10% off with our Captain's Club discount and some recent posts on Cruise Critic seem to imply that there aren't really any further discount offers on board anymore.

Charging the internet package to my Celebrity Visa gave me just enough rewards points to bump me up to the next OBC redemption level, so it seemed worthwhile at the time. Even more so now that I was able to get it at the $239 rate instead. I guess we'll see if that was the right decision come December 9th? ;)

  13. I am not Elite yet, so I don't know for sure, but I think you get a choice of either taking your free minutes, or applying the free minutes towards a certain percent off an internet package.

Mostly I just wanted to post and say thanks for pointing out the internet package discount! I prebooked a couple weeks ago for my December cruise for $282 and now it is only $239. I'll have to cancel my package and rebook so I can get the sale price :)

  14. I recently did a passport renewal/name change. I received my new passport exactly 2 weeks after dropping my application in the mail. We didn't do expedited either. If I were you, I'd probably just wait until you receive your new passports to finish the check in. I completed my check in and requested luggage tags and got them in the mail about 5 days later.

  15. This offer shows up for my Blue card but not for my Gold card.

So is this offer good towards making payments on an already booked cruise? Final payment for my Equinox cruise is due in a week or so and I had been planning on using my Celebrity Visa for final payment for the OBC, but maybe I can put $500 of the final payment on my AmEx and the remaining balance on the Visa so I can get the $150 statement credit and the OBC? Hmm. Has anyone done that before?

  16. We won $500 in OBC while we were on our honeymoon cruise aboard the Silhouette in March. We visited the future cruises office while we were docked in Jamaica and booked an Equinox cruise for this coming December. They mentioned that they were having a raffle and would be picking a winner that night. When we returned to our cabin after dinner, we had a voicemail message letting us know that we had won! :)

  17. I had been keeping an eye on this sailing, because I had been thinking of taking my mother on it as a 60th birthday present. I noticed it had disappeared from Celebrity's site, so I'm assuming it may end up being chartered perhaps. It is still showing as available for booking on a couple random online TA websites though.

If you hear anything from Celebrity, let me know. There really aren't any other short Celebrity Caribbean sailings available that month, unfortunately :(

  18. We pre purchased the photo package for our last cruise. It was $200 for all prints and a CD with digital copies. It cost $249 for the same package on board, I believe.

We ended up with around 80 photos over the 7 night cruise. Some of them were blurry/crappy, but we got enough decent ones that we thought the package was well worth it considering how much they charge for a single photo.

If your cruise stops in Labadee and you do the zip line, the package even includes photos from the zip line excursion. So that was pretty awesome.
