  1. As Diamond members you will EACH get one 24 hr continuous period of regular internet... So with the 2 of you, that will cover 48hrs. Then you can buy a pkg for the remainder of the cruise -unless they run some really fantastic deal on line ahead of time- but most of time its a "mark it up" to mark down "special"...

    hope that helps.

  2. We just went to Jolly Beach last week.. Had about 28 of our closest friends. We got a big bus and paid $5 pp each way - Our driver came back to get us at designated time.

I emailed the resort in advance - day passes are usually $75 pp - (includes continental brkfst, lunch, and all you can drink) -- With more than 10 people, it was $67.50 pp.

The pool is beautiful - swim up bar, volleyball,, we did water aerobics...

The beach is amazing... You can get umbrella's for $5 to sit on the sand with chairs. (chairs are free with day pass).

The beach is very calm, little drop when you first walk in, but would be fine for a child with adult - The water is clear aqua color and was very calm when we were there (3rd time going)

  3. I believe all the beaches are public -- You "may" get stopped if you are on the hotel grounds trying to use the pools, etc - as we get the day packages and have wrist bands for pool access, bars, food etc.

But I'm sure you could walk through the hotel and go out to the beach -and just not use their huts and lounges.

  4. if the obc is for a cruise you already have booked, that you think is more than you will use- then go to customer service and ask them to give you any obc that has no fees.

(there are 2 kinds of obc- some you are entitled to in full-others have a surcharge)

Use the rest to pay your gratuities, and if you still have a lot left- the 3% or 5% fee is negligible vs losing it all. (same as getting cash in the casino against your account)

then you can purchase another next cruise booking if you choose, on your credit card-and put the money you just got back in the bank to pay for it .

    hope that helps.

  5. we've been to Riu and it was wonderful. Beautiful pool with swim up bar, stairs that go down to the beautiful beach. Its right next door to the Atlantis.

Food was all you wanted, breakfast and lunch buffet . I'd highly recommend this for an all day/ all inclusive.

If you go through Island Marketing, its $75 pp for the day instead of $100.

  6. Its wonderful.. Beautiful, crystal clear beach,, has a couple of pools - one big main one is near the food buffet and bar.

We had a large group and went for the all inclusive rate - $75 pp - (was 67.50 because we had more than 20 ) - included all beverages, food, chairs, umbrella's.

It is about a 25 minute taxi ride- We actually got a bus .but its approx $7 pp each way... Food by the pool was basic burgers, hot dogs, fries, cole slaw... They did also serve breakfast inside if you went in the morning...

Have been twice and will go again ...

  7. It's not just you. I've been on numerous cruises and I don't understand why they have D6, D7, and D8 for instance. They are all middle deck balcony cabins, same size, and same price...

Its based on location and pricing... The lower the number - ,eg. D1 -the higher the price..

The E's are similar to the D's, but have a love seat instead of a full size couch.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Anyone been to Jolly beach resort (formerly Jolly Roger) lately ? We went a few years ago with a large group , and loved it. It was beautiful.. They have day passes for $75 pp -all inclusive.

Just wondering if anyone has gone lately, and what the taxi fee is ?

    thanks

  9. We usually book tours ahead of time, but see that many tours are available when you get to the port.

We'd rather wait til we arrive at port rather than commit to a tour beforehand for many reasons.

Would like to know if it is possible to book tours with Beno, Levi, Reyno, etc right at the port. Substantial savings if you book online beforehand?

    Thanks

Highly unlikely, as they plan their tour guides and sizes of vehicles needed by the amount of people that have pre-booked.

We've used Levi and Woody a couple times and all tours were wonderful

  10. We were just on the 10 night Equinox sailing and several of us had the classic package.

We never felt the need to upgrade. We are not high end alcohol drinkers, and don't care for wine- so it worked for us.

The only place we couldn't get a martini was the Martini bar. They would not make the smaller size, but all the rest of the bars would.

Was great for any drinks at the coffee bar -with or without alcohol.

Pretty much any mixed cocktail was good - so unless you really must have the $$$ liquor,, the classic should be fine.

My favorite thing about either beverage package is no signing and no receipts !

ANd of course, great to grab a bottle of water as you were heading into port -

Also, yes, one person in cabin can upgrade without the other !

    Enjoy !

  11. Hi Sandy,

Thank you for this great information ... my family and I just booked 1140 and 1138 on the Summit for next summer (25th wedding anniversary!!!). We were told we can open the partitions of the balconies, but that partition for 1140 looks huge.

Did you and your friends open the partition and if so, how was it with cabin 1140?

    Thank you for your help.

    Bonnie

    hi Bonnie

we had all 5 aft cabins . and yes, opened all the balconies- they only open about a doors width and it is at the part of the partion that is close to the cabin balcony doors..

So, its not like one big giant balcony when you open them - ...

Have to make rules if you are sleeping with your balcony door open, because that is where the openings are - Worked great for our group -and loved the location and the stairs right down to the bar and buffet.

    Enjoy

    Sandy

  12. While I agree that the drawer space is limited, on the Equinox and Solstice they had a large cabinet above the bed which was very useful for clothes and other items. Also, the bed was slightly higher, and suit cases and large items also could be tucked under it. If you can afford it- their is nothing like a suite!

I "assume" that the summit also has this above the bed cabinet.

nope- not in the new aqua aft cabins they didn't.

  13. Hate to disagree with a future fellow traveler ..but as a self acknowledged "rat packer" I took more stuff than I could ever use..not just clothing but camera and entertainment equipment, travel hammock, inflatable foot rests ( plus lots of wound care supplies as I was nursing a nasty dog bite at the time:eek:).

We came on board with two LARGE suitcases, a large rolling duffel bag and a carry-on roller board ( easy to do when no flights are involved) and I found a place for everything out of sight by the time I hosted a cabin crawl for a couple of fellow revelors during the sail away held just below at the Aft bar...just sayin...

its ok to disagree - :D

    - my problem is i'm used to a jr suite on rccl -so this was a big change for us--- so for anyone who is used to this size cabin - would prob be ok--..

  14. Sounds like the new deck 11 AQ cabins don't have as much storage room as the existing cabins (such as AQ on deck 9) then. Guess that's the trade off for the new bathroom.

There was the regular double door closet- and then there were about 7 stacked draws that were really thin- they should have done 3 or 4 deep draws instead..

three small open shelves in cabin - and there was 2 cabinets under the desk area - but no drawer there -

i brought an over the door hanger which worked great for socks/undies/flip flops etc-- .

however, having the 2 free laundry coupons (elite status) definately helped- so less packing/more laundry is way to go..

  15. Personally' date=' I would choose a larger suite with a larger balcony. Just got off the Summit, Aqua class deck 11, and while it was new, very clean and our steward, Antonio, did a terrific job, the room is small and the balcony tiny. I'm sure the Aft Aquas with larger balconies are also great. Just my humble opinion.[/quote']

Yes, the balconies were great, on the 3 in the middle- and the cabins are quite compact, and i think they did a very poor design in the storage dept.... so, if you book one of these- keep that in mind--- tiny drawers,, no desk drawer,, minimal shelf space.

  16. We (group of 10) had the new AQ cabins aft deck 11 a few weeks ago...

Loved the aft location - we were right over the Sunset Bar -

Positive about that - a quick hop down the stairs for a drink, and to the buffet -- very convenient.

Negative - yes, you could hear the music late at night- never bothered us- but could to some who like it quiet. The rooms are pretty sound proof- so with the door closed - minimal noise..

Smoking never bothered us - did not drift up...

We had 1140 - the best cabin back there -huge balcony - the 2 on either side were 2nd best - 1138 & 1141 -- very large balconies also... 1130 & 1133 have the least amount of privacy from below -...

being used to Rccl -these cabins were much smaller than we are used to -but did love the location...

One other thing- does have the you can't get there from here factor-- If you wanted to go forward to deck 11 - you have to go down to deck 9 and across unless you want to either walk outside for a bit on 11 -or through the pool deck on deck 10... If you have a bad weather day, or want to keep a nice hair do-- not the best way to go...

  17. Has anyone stayed in cabin 1115 on the Summit? I'm having a hard time finding pictures taken of the balcony. I'm afraid we won't be able to see the water.

when are you going ? i'll be on her 6/10- have all 5 new aft cabins -can check out the sides..
