  1. My last Caribbean cruise the shelves were FULL. I do a combination of paper and eBooks. I prefer paper, and find that they are easier to read on deck due to lighting. eBooks hold more and take up less space, but I need to make sure that they don't get wet. I read NYT top 100 type books are they were readily available on the cruise ship. Additionally, I left a book and took a book. On the Silhouette there was a shelf that look like, leave a book, take a book. The books were not indexed and were paperbacks.

  2. As a Gen-X'er I find this concept very interesting. I found the Solstice ships a little boring and old, but a lot of the other cruise lines too young. I don't agree that some of the concepts of the ship appear to not focus on Celebrity's core clientele.

I am thinking that this space might be a reservation type space, where you can make a reservation either online or on your device while on the ship. Remember that this ship is supposed to be very connected.

  3. I am one of those people who think that generally there is a time and place for everything. When I go to a 5-star restaurant at 8pm, I do not expect children. When I go to a family friendly place, I expect kids. With that being said, I would think of the specialty restaurants, the one most appealing for a child and adult where you can get in and out pretty quick would be the Lawn Club Grill. Dinner in Murano and Tuscon are very long and slow. Also, the ambiance is not really child-friendly.

  4. I talked to an agent on Tuesday about the March 17th date then went to book on Saturday and it was sold out. The celebrity agent told me to keep watching as people will always cancel. I ended up booking March 31st at a considerably higher rate then what was quoted on the 17th. I also priced out the infinite veranda verses AQ and it was less then $50 difference one you added in the difference in perks available and extra onboard credit.

  5. Just got off the Silly. Had a great time. Murano is the best specificity restaurant. In the morning it is nice to get your coffee at Bacio then sit outside, there is a nice area right outside. You can always find seating on the Solstice deck if you don't mind the hike. The shows were good, 7 oclock always had space the later show was FULL.

  6. I just came off a 7 day on the Silhouette to the Caribbean and the average age was probably 50. As this was the early part of spring in the US and a big week off in Canada; the age may have been a little younger. Also there were lots of multi-generational families onboard.

It depends on what you like to do if there were activities for "younger" adults, I am 43. You could always find someplace on the ship playing live music or a DJ or a dance class. There is also trivia, gameshows, etc. Most of the activities attracted a large age range.

  7. Catamaran or Jet Ski, what is the best way to see Grand Cayman on a cruise. I have been on land based vacations in Grand Cayman so I have done both before, but had a full week so no need to maximize time. Went to Sting Ray Island twice in 1 week. Also, whose excursion would you recommend for 2 experienced adult snorkelers?

  8. Thanks for the info. We are not big gamblers, but do like to spend a few dollars there so it's nice to know that there is an area that is designated no smoking. I'm allergic to smoke and I have no problem asking people to not smoke in a designated non smoking area. Also, I appreciate the info on the vibe. We will just go for the weekly pass. The only reason we were considering the cabana was because my husband is not as much of a sun lover as I am. I guess we will just look for chairs that are not in direct sun. If you get a weekly pass, do you get assigned chairs or are you guaranteed a chair and you just have to find one for yourself?

The casino smoke is strong and permeates all the nearby areas :mad:

Also, the spa pass is better in cold weather.
