We are sailing w/ Carnival in late March 2023 (4 adults).  We are interested in doing an all inclusive for the day for research on a possible return in the future to DR/ Punta Canta.  Any recommendations for a day pass nearby Amber Cove or one of the ones that Carnival promotes?

All,

We have cruised a few times to Mexico (Cozumel). We have felt very safe and love the port. But, we have stay with Carnival excursions.

We are wanting to venture out for us..... the plan is to take a taxi to an all inclusive for the day.

We are looking at Mr. Sanchos, Playia Mia or ???

So, here are the questions...

1. Safety and taking a taxi. My wife is worried about being robbed or being taken to a bad place (the movie Taken). It appears very common practice for people on this board to hop a taxi to these places. Can someone provide insight or reassurance as to why is should be fine. Also, cost from port to these location and time/ distance.

2. We like to look of Mr. Sanchos and Playia Mia. Which do you recommend and why? Our group....4 adults +.....1-18yr and 1-15 yr old.

Please share any other ideas or options that are recommended. Buy early/ reservations.

Anyhow, we were on that ship. I have to say it was exciting and rewarding to see Carnival save the lives of the men, women and children.

The cruise was a 4 day trip. Mon- Miami, Tues- Key West, Wed- Cozumel, Thur- Day at Sea and Fri morning was home.

However, we and many other passengers were extremely disappointed. We left Key West on Tues afternoon and were heading toward Cozumel when we found the migrants. Once onboard, the US Coast Guard ordered us to turn around and head back toward Key West. Carnival scrambled and found us a port in Nassau, Bahamas. They had to scramble to find excursions, etc. Nassau- -the water was cold and area was NOT even close to Cozumel.

I called Guest Services and was told no credits or compensation would be offered. The cost of the port (Nassau) was more than Cozumel, so Carnival deemed it a even swap.

I know we did not choose a Eastern Caribbean cruise in March (Spring Break) because it is not the the best weather this time of year.

So, my question....Shouldn't Carnival offer us a credit or something? I can tell you that I feel a bit cheated on what I expected and what I actually received. I thought about calling or writing to ask Carnival for something....any ideas, suggestions would be great!

Ok. We are to sail in about two weeks on the Ecstasy to Key West and Cozumel.

I have noticed that we are in Cozumel from 1:30 to 10pm.

We were looking at the beach excursion players....Playia Mia, Mr. Sanchos, Paradise, etc...

I appears that at least Mr. Sanchos is only open until 5pm. I am trying to figure out if the same is true for the other resorts?

If so, is it worth the $50+ per person for only about 3-3.5 hours?

I am looking for current information.

We are looking to rent a car pre- and post-cruise from FLL and then from MIA (Post).

Fox Rental Car is the cheapest and appears to have availability when we need it.

I found some bad reviews and some OK reviews, all older reviews, nothing current. (Last 2 mos).

I don't mind the offsite transport to save a little $$.

If you don't recommend them (Fox)...please say who and why?

I am looking for current info on this topic.

I am looking for the cheapest way to travel from MIA to POM. I see lots of threads, but most are older.

I also read that getting a taxi can be a challenge or long wait at MIA.

Finally, we need the reverse after the cruise. POM to MIA.

So, same rules for cheapest.

BTW: We are doing a 4 day March 24-28th, Monday- Friday. So, I would think this is an off time for POM. Maybe....?? or Spring Break and still busy?
