A lot of mixers have gluten (at least cross contamination). Also be careful because if they just used the blender for something you can’t have and then for your drink it can be a problem. I am very sensitive though and some it bothers more than others. Angry Orchard is always a safe choice and is on a lot of ships. Other than that fruit juice with the alcohol that doesn’t bother you. 

I'm really enjoying your review. It was so hard to get off that ship on 6/24!! This is taking me back.

We didn't have bottled water though so it seemed like a hassle to go to Garden Cafe to get fresh filtered water and then back to room to brew a cup of coffee when we could have fresh coffee delivered straight to the room each morning...

Thank you that relieved my mind. For your next cruise you might want to know that the water in your sink is filtered. It is the same water they serve in the restaurants.

I loved reading your review. Thank you. We are traveling without kids, but loved your writing style. So much fun...keep it up. I have never been on The Escape, but have done A LOT of NCL cruises. One thing freaked me out...you mentioned no coffee. :eek: I can't go without my coffee. All of the other NCL ships have had coffee makers in the cabins if you are in a balcony or above. Did you not have a coffee maker???? I'm enough of a coffee snob that I bring my own, but now am worried. We are on The Escape in two weeks for two weeks in an aft facing balcony cabin.

Not toprodtn but I went to Maya Chan Resort in Costa Maya and it is a lovely place and as advertised. Good food, as many drinks as you want, free Wifi, your own private palapa for shade or privacy, massage on the beach for a minimal cost.

 

The only down side is the water can be a bit muddy if there has been a recent storm. Some others on our cruise went to Almaplena just a bit further down the road and said the water was fine.

I absolutely LOVE Maya Chan! It is my favorite place to do in any port. The service can not be beat. Anyone willing to bring us our drinks out in the water while we are relaxing on our floats is fantastic. It is that way every time. Also, the sea bass there is better than I have ever had (I love it and I don't like fish, but other people have also made the same comment). I have been here 12 times and the water has been clear 10 of the 12 times. One time was a little murky and the other was pretty bad (first cruise of the year at the end of the rainy season). There is usually a little sea grass, but it is in clumps and very easy to navigate around (the sea grass is not what makes the water murky, it is from the run off). Any way, I would love to find somewhere like Maya Chan in every port.

The port is an industrial port and if you never get beyond it you will probably wonder why anyone stops there. Guatemala is beautiful and lush

In Honduras we are heading to Banana Beach Resort where we have each purchased an Adult Day Pass ($30 each) and this includes transportation to and from the dock, use of their three swimming pools, sand volleyball and clean beach, on-site security and free Wi-Fi. Thank you so much for posting this! rocky1 (thank you too!!) posted to our roll call and I really enjoyed reading it. I am so excited to see a new ship (even though it isn't new it is to me :)

I think they removed breakfast at Cagneys as a perk for CAS earlier this year. :(

When I talked to them at the end of October they told me you get it if you are Golden on the smaller ships. You don't get it on Breakaway, Getaway, epic, etc.

Oh, and the luggage tags are brown color, but blank space for name and room number. I sailed the Dawn out of Tampa in April with the same itinerary, in a suite. My suite had brown tags too. Maybe this means we can get priority boarding, even though not sailing in suites. Would be nice if we could get priority tender and disembarking too. That was a nice perk in a suite. Loved breakfast at Cagneys, I will miss not getting that. I doubt we will, as we have such a large group of us. I did try to upgrade to a suite, but CAS wouldnt let me, since it was the 7star event. I was able to upgrade for my 7star annual cruise benefit however. I wonder when the casino will open on the ship, as we will not be out to sea until very late. I heard around 5p?.

I had brown tags on my reservation also. I am Golden in the NCL Casino which gives you breakfast and lunch in Cagneys no matter what room you are in. It also gives you priority embark, disembark, and tender. Hopefully they will keep that perk even with so many players on board. The casino on that itinerary usually opens between 5-6. I am in my 50s, blonde and will have my cane so should be pretty easy to spot.

Cyndi, I will introduce you to our Vegas casino Sat. night at the Bon Voyage party in you would like. We have 2 hosts in Vegas as well. We have one that we see occasionally that makes contact with us at Paris while we are playing and the other, the one that is coming on this cruise, who we deal with on the phone that books all of our Vegas trips who basically does everything for us, that we have never met. It was a pleasant surprise to get the phone call from him and to learn he was going to be on our cruise and that we are going to be able to finally meet him.

I would like that! I would love to sit with you all and share info at some point. I don't really know any other 7* people. I can't wait to meet you!! See you tomorrow night!

We just got a call from our casino host in Las Vegas who books our trips when we go there. He saw our name on the list and wanted to let us know he was going to be on our cruise. So I guess in addition to all of the 7 star players there are going to be quite a few CET hosts and other personnel along for the ride as well.

When I called to ask them a question they told me that one whole department was gone on that 7* cruise (the one a couple of weeks ago). So that means there will be more than 250 cabins of us! I wish they would hurry up and get me a new on site host in Vegas. Mine left with no notice last month. I am going to be out there for New Years and find it so much easier to have one on site. At least I still have my overall host. She is great!!

Yes they are samsonite, but only 2 wheels, not the spinners. I would have prefered the 5 peice set so could have gotten a new small shoulder carryon bag. I already have a nice 21 inch spinner samsonite that I got at the 7star renewal dinner a year or so ago. Well, happy to have gotten anything. It was a nice surprize.

 

I hope the ship casino isnt too packed with all us 7stars. Its a small casino.

I wish we could trade out. LOL I love the Samsonite without the spinner wheels. I got the other set. It is like one of those you get for $50 on Black Friday. I am not complaining though because I can always use luggage!!

Oh, really? The photogrophers with the nice backdrops are setup every night? That would be good. We just want to get dress dup one night, like i said to get a nice family picture. Did you guys have any issues with reservations with specialty restaurants. I'm reading a lot of conflicting reports on whether or not you need to make reservations in advance or if you could just wing it and decide once you're on board.

They have different back drops each night. They have someone taking pics on the staircase every night. If you are traveling during a busy time you should probably make reservations. I made reservations, but there were times we were not ready to eat or something happened and we changed them. We were always able to get in. It would be something like we asked for 8 and they had 7:30, etc.

The first Sea Day is also the only night they offer lobster, but it is on the buffet. I really didn't want to get dressed up to go to the buffet. We saw people dressed up every night. There were photographers set up each night also.

Great review!! I read it on your web page, not here, so my apologies if this question was already asked! You mention in your review that one day you went to the buffet for lunch and it was Asian day. Does the buffet have different themes each day? Do they tell you the theme in the dailies, or do you just find out when you show up! I LOVE Asian food and doubt I will get it much (besides the spring roll app-yum) in Taste, Savor, or Manhattan Room (and don't want to pay for Teppanyaki or Noodle Bar), so would love to catch Asian day at the buffet! Do you happen to remember? Thanks!

It was not listed in the Dailies that way. There are always Asian options on one or two of the sections in the buffet. Try the Indian food it is wonderful!!

They look great! Thank you for reposting them. You might want to post them as a specific thread so more people see them. The menus are actual pictures so they are as good as they get. When you post the dailies just add the web address and they can look at the menus there.

.....and I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth either. Just to be honest, I do find these somewhat better to read. All of the important stuff can figured out although the scans are still pretty blurry.

THank you!! Thank you!!! I had the same problem as the other poster. I tried to print them out, but all that came out was a giant blur and they are completely illegible. I tried downloading them and enhancing them in a photo editor, but all that did was make a sharper blur, LOL. If you can get them uploaded in a crisper version, I would be over the moon ecstatic :D:D

I will definitely try tonight. Sometimes godaddy can be a pain for those of us not technically advanced! LOL

I did B2B on NCL Jewel March 2013. I was disappointed. We were told we would walk off go through customs and then right back on. NOT! We were put in the VIP area and had to wait until boarding started. If I had known that I would not have gotten off until everyone else was completely off!
