  1. We're looking at the $45 option as well-- are there any reviews to find about it?

I can't justify spending $104pp to snorkel with an NCL sponsored one when all the reviews say it's packed with people upon people.

If anyone has done the eco tours, were you packed? How did it go? I'd really appreciate info, we cruise in 5 weeks! Nothing like the last minute :)

Hubby and I took our ten yr old dd in March. I believe we did the $45 option. The boat there and back was quite full, but it wasn't uncomfortable. They divided us snorkelers into groups and the snorkelling was so much fun. If you're not into the party scene, I would recommend going on an earlier tour as the small key was starting to fill up by the time we were leaving- although to be fair, it was March Break.

  2. We spent a lovely day there about 3 weeks ago. There were 2 sm/med sized female dogs hanging around. They seemed very shy and submissive and would run away when they saw some staff coming.

  3. I would say most of the water toys would appeal to older teens. In particular, there's a trampoline and some scary (for this 40 something anyway) climbing obstacles that are in deeper water and always seemed to have adults and teens enjoying them. There are also some big teeter totter type inflatables and my 10 yr old dd and I didn't try them but we were saying how we think my dh and our teen son would have had a blast on them.

  4. Hi there. My dd and I booked through LFK in March. They ran several boat trips to and from so we just kept an eye on the time. When we checked in they made note of our cruise departure and advised us on what time to leave. We did as we were told and got back with plenty of time to shop in the port. The hardest part was dragging ourselves away- it really was the highlight of our trip :).

  5. I also noticed a price drop for March 2015. When I checked on Sunday there was a $60 difference (they had dropped the surcharge I paid for Lido deck). I wasn't sure if that was the same as a price drop but emailed my PVP that night and was credited the next morning. This morning the surcharge is back on the mock booking, so I guess it can be good to check daily.

  6. My 9 y old dd and I were on the Conquest a couple of weeks ago. A few kindnesses really stand out:

    1. Debarking in Belize, an experienced cruising family ( you reading this thread Almost packed ;)?) took us under their wing.

    2. Debarking in Roatan, a couple we'd met in Belize offered for us to share their cab to meet our respective guides. Once on our excursion, we banded together with a lovely lady and her charming mom and it was great to have the company.

    3. The last time we went to the MDR we decided to request a group table and I'm so glad we did! We were seated with two couples. They were interesting and funny and rather than being annoyed at having a kid at their table they treated her like a little lady and included her in the conversation. It was great seeing her in that light.

Hmmm, all this is making me wish we were on another cruise. What a great topic!

  7. Hi.

I've never been to Playa Mia so I can't make comparisons but my 9 y old dd and I were at Paradise Beach last wk. There were 5 ships in port but it didn't seem terribly crowded.

We took a cab from Puerta Maya for a flat rate of $14 each way. I think I would try to share a cab next time.

My dd could touch bottom for some of the toys but not all. I think it would definitely be deep for your 5yold. We did see lots of kids wearing life jackets.

It wasn't a breathtaking beach like some we went to on Roatan or Grand Cayman, but my daughter had a blast with the inflatables. The staff were super nice, the pool and grounds lovely, and the food was tasty. It's a great place for kids to blow off steam.

  8. With bz it was a little longer than the ship tours, but not by too much. Our guide was great and he made the trip there and back entertaining and informative, and the lunch with rum punch was nice. I was surprised, though, to see that RCI seemed to have some smaller groups than ours (I'm not complaining, though, as we had a really fun group of people.) There were so many different tour groups in the caves at once that it would be hard to hear your guide no matter how small your group happened to be. We were there right in the middle of spring break season, so I don't know if it would be as crowded at other times.

BTW- I don't know who RCI uses, but their tubes actually had Royal Carribean printed on them.

  9. I also contacted LFK to find out what the difference was, and they got back to me within a day.

They were very clear, that Carnival's price does not include lunch /drink/snorkel or Kayak equipment which is all included in their fee.

They only serve Carnival excursion chips, no lunch.

    Hope this helps you.

I was actually fairly unimpressed with the response, so am thinking of Tabyana or Bananarama instead.

That's what I was looking for-thanks! I'm a bit worried by the lack of response but we'll give it a try.

  10. Hi there,

I notice that there's already a recent LFK thread, but I have a specific question so hope it's ok to start this one.

My daughter and I booked directly through LFK (Conquest, March 9-yay!). Not long ago I noticed that Carnival has begun offering excursions there. We're to pay about $20 more than what Carnival charges. Originally, all communication from LFK had been prompt and friendly and I would love to see my $ go directly to them. However, I've emailed them twice with questions over the last couple of weeks and received no reply so I'm getting a little nervous. The only thing my dd has been adamant about on this cruise is LFK ;). I'm wondering if anyone here has visited or had communication with LFK since Carnival took them on.

Does anyone know if private bookings still stand? Is Carnival discouraging private bookings for their passengers?

Does anyone know what the difference in price accounts for?

    Thanks :)

    Melanie
