  1. Just returned from a 7 day Mexican Rivera Princess cruise. Food was just not good. Whenever we had a good entree I was ecstatic! The Crown Grill waiter made it a point to say, " and for those who don't want meat, our lobster ....." The "surf and turf" was not advertised, and tacitly discouraged.not the case two years ago with Oceania. Breakfast in the Horizon was ok, nothing like the joy that was the Oceania buffet. So, hands down, no comparison. If you are excited by food, choose Oceania.

Now, comparing the cabins... I hated The Oceania closet. It was on the bedroom side of our cabin. On the Crown Princess, it was on the bathroom side and made for a better room configuration and decreased noise level.

Our aft view room on Princess was a far better balcony than a concierge level (and price!!!) room on Oceania.

Entertainment? Princess totally won.. So all in all, it was big ship vs. small ship and it depends on what you value.

  2. Just curious and looking at places to move after we retire..

Do those of you with 50 or more cruises live near a port or do you have to use air travel (and maybe a hotel then) to get to the disembarkation port? Also, don't think me rude for asking, just curious..are there many people who have 50 or over cruises TA's? NOT asking for TA recommendations, ( just found out that's a no no here!).

    Thanks!

  3. I pushed my husband to book this cruise because we wanted to experience Princess. We enjoyed the mid size Oceania Riveria and so many CC people that we clicked with loved Princess, that we felt like Princess may be the perfect fit for us. I am 54 and LOVED the Love Boat tv show.

We have only done the one cruise but hope to be able to cruise for many, many years to come. We will enjoy people's stories, and hope to create some new stories and make new friends with those who know Princess inside and out!

Just because we don't have any memories of Princess' first 50 years doesn't mean we can't celebrate with those that do! I don't think Matt and I will be like fish out of water! I feel blessed and lucky to have stumbled across this cruise while reading emails one morning early in June. I called the on-line TA agency who sends out e-mail blasts. The agent I got said , "oh, no need to hurry to book today, it's so far out". I asked him to check the cabin availability anyway, just to humor me. He did, and came back with, "oh my, I was wrong, we only have two guarantee MC mini suites left" . I didn't even bother to check with Matt, I just pulled out our credit card! Never have done a guarantee, but I know all will turn out marvelously!!

  4. Hi Mike and all,

We are booked on this cruise. However, we are booked with a GTY mini-suite and I'd really rather had a cabin assignment. Will you share the name of your TA who has cabins for this cruise?

  5. We have just returned from the March 28th Caribbean Hideaways sailing on Rivera. We were in concierge room 9089. Absolutely everything was amazing! (Our first ever cruise!) We kept seeing this room on the 7th floor with an extended, two open side railing balcony. On the day we disembarked we were able to actually go in and see the room. We decided Tom"go down a level" and ask for this room. We are booked for next March on the Mayan Mystique sailing. Our thinking is that we will enjoy the left side open railing and the extra seating. Thanks for those photos! I'm not sure I understand the lack of privacy downside..no one can see in our stateroom...just the balcony. We are dressed when we decide to go out on the balcony! Thanks again!
