  1. Hi Hank...the hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Primavera.

It’s not a fancy hotel..room was basically furnished with the necessities... but it was clean, the staff very friendly, a nice breakfast..but the biggest plus is the amazing location.  For a 2 or 3 night stay it’s the perfect place to stay.

    Enjoy your stay!

  2. Agree with what was written above, you need to determine what really interests you.

You mentioned ancient Rome, so definitely see the Colosseum and Roman Forum.  When we were there last year, we booked a Breakfast at the Vatican tour...highly recommend this since it gets you into the Vatican before it opens to the public.

When we were done there, we walked to the Colosseum.  On our way to the Colosseum, we walked by the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Campo de Fiori (we stayed at the Hotel Primavera 1 block from Campo de Fiori and really liked the hotel and location).  With a couple of lunch and snack breaks, we made it to the Colosseum with plenty of time for a tour ...about 2 hours before it closed.

1 thing I would HIGHLY recommend, is a walk about in the Trastevere area of Rome...it’s, to me, real Italian with lovely winding streets and cafes.  Also if you can , while in Trastevere go the Giancolo Aka: Janiculum Hill for an amazing view of Rome.

Most important....have fun and don’t stress about what you need to see...there is so much in Rome that even just walking around with absolutely no agenda will be amazing 🍷

  3. Hi...there are plenty of buses and taxis so you really shouldn’t have an issue getting to Piazza Navona by 5pm.  Having said that, stuff happens (crowded buses, traffic jams) so I would personally recommend you walk.  We were in Rome in October and we walked everywhere.

If you walk at a normal “getting to a place on time” pace without stopping to look at things, it should take you about 30 to 40 minutes tops to get there....it real is a simple straight forward walk.

    Have a great time!

  4. Hi...we used them in October from the port to our hotel in Rome and they were fantastic.  They were there waiting for us with sign in hand and got us to our hotel with no issues, I would definitely recommend them.

    have a great vacation 😎

  5. I tried researching the best way to move around this port and ended up going with a car rental. Cost of the rental is $75 (Canadian) from Avis. I’ve been told this area of Greece is very easy driving.

Since this is our first time here we definitely want to go to Olympia but I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices for the cruise excursion and I know that hubby and I will probably not spend more than 2 to 3 hours there.

By having the car, we can drive around and check out a winery or two and hit the beach before dropping off the car.

Consider the rental, it gives you the freedom to do what you want, when you want. Also, you won’t have to wait in line for the train will tons of other people...if there is a train.

    Have a great cruise!

  6. Hi,

We will be stopping here on our cruise in October. We have rented a car and plan on taking a scenic drive around the area (have been told that driving in this part of Greece is very easy).

If we make a stop at Olympia, which we probably will, is it easy enough to purchase tickets once we get there? I’m hoping there won’t be long lines.

Since we’re going in October, we probably won’t be doing any sunning or swimming, any other recommendations of where we can go since we will have a car.

Thanks so much for your suggestions :)
