Just thought I would check back again as others have been after going to LFK and using this thread for research.
-The walk out of Mahogany Bay to the taxis is kind of tricky, but since I had done my research, I knew to walk past the MB taxis and over the knoll to the "outsiders". My group was like, "Man, where the heck are you taking us?!?" "You'll thank me later!"
- LFK was the best beach place we went to during our cruise, hands down. (We went to Chankanaab in Cozumel, Alamaplena in Costa Maya, no beach day in Belize) Was not crowded as others had mentioned, and there was 2 carnival ships in port that day as well (Glory and Magic). Saw no construction, as had been mentioned. LFK is an absolutely, breath-takingly gorgeous place. We didn't have to wait for food, drinks, paddle-boards, or kayaks. We used all of this and never had a line. The jumping platform was fun also. The animals were fun to watch and interact with for a bit.
Cons:
-Snorkeling is not so good unless you get out of the shallow part, which we weren't allowed to go to bc you aren't allowed to walk on it and that is the only way out that I knew of, bc I didn't get the snorkeling package. Snorkeling in the immediate area around LFK is not so good. Saw a few fish, nothing amazing. Didn't really care to snorkel much anyway as my group of 6 spent most of our time hanging out with each other, and there is only one other person in my group that is very interested in snorkeling.
- The food was decent, but not great. Beef was like chewing beef jerky. The chicken and rice and beans were good and I don't really care for seafood so I cant tell you much about the shrimp and lob. Oh yea and the chip and pico were just okay. My 2 free drinks, I just got a couple brews, which were fine.

Last year on the Valor, they played NBA playoff games in the large screen in the pool area. It was kind of nice to sit out there at night and watch the game.

Does any have a map or photo of what/who I am looking for when walking towards the drivers ouside Mahogany Bay? The confirmation e-mail from LFK says to walk outside of the port area and meet them. Seems I remember someone posting a photo but I can't be sure.

Thanks for the help. We paid final payment back in March and have the new card on file with carnival when I did online check-in so looks like we're all good.
Thanks again!

I booked our cruise back in December. In late January, we had a security issue and ended up with new credit cards. Without thinking, my wife and I both cut up our old credit cards and threw them in the trash and proceeded with our lives with the new cards (but same account). Help me out; do I need my credit card that I booked with to check-in?

Tomorrow I'll be doing the "single digits until the REAL single digits dance!" A.K.A. 20 days!

I also just bought the Nikon P520. I don't know much at all about cameras; I just want a camera that can take good pictures for me! Seems this camera will do it.

We are looking for an underwater camera for snorkeling for our trip in late May. We would like to stay under $100 and we're not pro photographers so it doesn't have to be perfect, by I do want clear pictures. I'm open to an eBay deal on a used one, but am skeptical. We wont be scuba diving, so we don't need one rated for very deep, may 10-20 ft or so.
Thanks for your all's help!

Anymore updates from people who've been to LFK recently?

My understanding is that food is included in the chankanaab dolphin swims so that is an expense that you can knock off.

Hi we are planning on going to Caye Caulker on may 6th and had the goal of spending the most time away from belize city. Our ship arrives at 8am and leaves at 5pm. We are departing from miami so i believe ship time stays on EST?. Does that mean we will be docking at 6am or 7am belize time (i heard they may not be observing DST)? it seems that the earliest water taxi out there is at 8am? and then the last water taxi we could take out is 1:30 (but is that cutting it too close depending on local vs ship time)?
I haven't been, but am researching the same trip. Ship does stay on EST, and Belize will be 2 hours BEHIND. Like yours, our trip arrives in Belize at 8:00am EST (6:00am Belize). The Caye Caulker Water Taxi will be leavin Belize City at 8:00am Belize time. Leave Caye Caulker at 1:30pm Belize time, arrive in Belize City at 2:00 should work, I would think.
What I still want to know is how far is the Water Taxi place from the tendering place? If it's near, it should be easy.
CORRECTION: The Cay Caulker Water Taxi website says it is a 45 minute ride from Caye Caulker to Belize City, and a 5 minute walk to the cruise terminal. The website says you arrive back in Belize City at 2:30. Ship leaves at 3:00, so I'd say the last tender is much earlier than that. That doesnt add up, but people do it all the time so I dont know. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in and help us

It was Monday & Friday night on the 3/30 Western sailing.
I wouldn't think ours will be Friday night because we disembark the next morning and as a previous poster mentioned, we should already have our luggage packed. Seems that most think that Sunday evening (sea day) and Thursday evening (Costa Maya) would be likely. Doesn't seem though like the first sea day would be it because that is our first day on the cruise, but I don't know. It really doesn't matter, but I was just curious.

You get to use the park and some dolphin packages include food also. Pictures are expensive, but price varies based on number people buying and number of photos. Somewhere around $90/pp for lots of pics, I think.

I am sailing on the Carnival Elation in 2 weeks and I booked the doolphin experience through their site. I tried in February but it wouldnt let me howevever a couple weeks ago when I tried it again using Carnival it let me check out just fine. So I would check I don't know if their agreement with Carnival has ended or there was just a mess up on the site but like I said I was able to do it just fine a couple weeks ago.
Exact same thing for us. We thought maybe the contract was up, or the site was messed up. Either way, we booked online with no live chat help or anything, and put that I was on carnival. I think we booked during the last week of Feb. for our May cruise. (Note to self: leave the carnival towel on the boat!)

Do you worry about making the ship on time with that tour bc we would be interested in that also? We're booked for a cave tubing trip but after thinking about it more, would probably rather do ruins, but want some water time too, if that's even possible.
A private tour like victor
Bodden's (Roatan) would be nice.

You guys have to think like a business owner and not with your hearts. massive company comes calling and wants to send lots of paying customers your way? As a small business owner, he (LFK owner) cannot say no to that. I myself am not a business owner but look at it from their point of view. A few may give less than stellar reviews, but if I had to guess, the large majority of cruisers search carnival.com for excursions and not CC, tripadvisor, etc. like we all do and will never see the bad reviews on here, only the ones on carnival.com's shore excursion page.
All this doesn't mean I disagree with your concern, just playing devil's advocate.

Yea I canceled my booking once I realized that they are now listed as a Carnival excursion. The secret getaway doesn't seem so secret anymore. No thanks. For the same price, I'm doing a private guided tour of Roatan and I can pick my own less crowded Beach
More room for me!

Search mitsugirly and check her "signature" under any of her posts. She has a great review with plenty of pics. She's sort of the "go-to" around here! Her review of almaplena sold me on it (and probably many others!)

Do they limit the number of guests at LFK? They will be 3 ships in roatan when I'm there!

I thought about that but the water was rough. How do you keep up with the kayak while you're off of it?
