  1. Hi, We went to Skjolden a couple of years ago with Royal Caribbean and went on their version of the glacier tour. The area where you view the Nigardsbreen glacier from is just across the lake and you get fantastic views even though it's a couple of miles away. The visitor centre nearby is really interesting and also with great views of the glacier. We had Norwegian waffles, raspberry jam and cream in the centre which was delicious. The journey to the glacier is scenic and our tour stopped at Guapne church, again worth seeing. Skjolden is in a stunning location however there is very little to do there as it is predominantly a residential village. When we arrived back from the tour we spent a couple of hours wandering around, however our ship didn't leave until late evening so we had plenty of time. Enjoy Norway, we loved it :).

  2. We used a city sightseeing tour which was waiting by the cruise ships to visit the Three Swords Monument. We stopped at the swords then hopped off at Stavanger Cathedral only to realise that the ship was a short walk away! We didn't hop on the bus again as everything was so close to walk to, so the tour was a complete waste of money. The Three Swords were ok but not exactly a highlight of the city. The old town, cathedral and lake area, harbour shops and cafes and the Petroleum Museum are all worth seeing and can easily fill a day in port. We loved Stavanger. You will love Norway, enjoy your trip :)
