  1. Hello fellow cruisers,

I just booked this suite for my wife and I on the 06FEB2024-21FEB2024 Panama Canal cruise. I have a very specific question for someone who has stayed in one of Emerald's owner's suites - can we be seen while out on the balcony by anyone above us? It appears it might be visible by someone standing at the very aft end of the Terrace Pool, but I cannot tell for sure.

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

  2. Hi, and thanks for entertaining questions! We’re on Regal leaving Warnemunde on July 29th. We are in a CC mini-suite. If you also had CC, can you comment on the dining room experience? Was it really better than the regular dining room? Also, do you know roughly how many new passengers embarked at Warnemunde vs Copenhagen? I wonder if we are at any disadvantages by boarding a couple days later than most.

  3. I’ve never had a stateroom on Lido deck, but while on Ruby a few weeks ago, we passed thru this area numerous times and it always seemed quiet. Actually, I think this is a great location for your stateroom. I would stay put if it were me. In fact, I might book one of these and try it myself...

  4. I’m glad I stumbled upon this thread.

My wife and I booked EZ Air business class for our July 29 Baltic cruise out of Wernemunde. We’re flying into Berlin a week early to do some sight seeing.

I first booked them months ago and then kept watching and changing to cheaper tickets. I now have exactly what I want for flights and price.

After reading this thread, I called my TA this week and paid the air tickets in full to lock them in.

I don’t care that I’m now locked in. I have what I want and don’t have to worry about Delta pulling a switcharoo on me.

    Thanks CC posters!

  5. We used EZ Air to book business class seats to Berlin for our Baltic cruise this July. I also had a snag with Delta. I called and the guy wouldn’t/couldn’t do anything. I waited a day and called back. A different person was able to give me what I wanted after working on it for a while. Sometimes it just depends on who you get. Different agents know different tricks, and some care more than others. Not saying this always works, but I’ve learned to work the system, and as others have said, be polite but persistent. Good luck.

  6. As Crab Shack is only offered once or twice per cruise, and the dates can vary week to week, they cannot add it for advance reservations in the Cruise Personalizer.

Just call the dine line after you board and ask what days it will be offered. Or that info may even be in the first day's Patter.

For future reference, Princess has a document with dining venues and hours across the fleet:

    https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/food-and-dining/dining-options.pdf

The ship-specifc page for Ruby on the website also lists which specialty restaurants are there, including Crab Shack:

    https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/ru-ruby-princess/

    Thank you, fishywood! Much appreciated.

  7. Hi,

We're cruising on the Ruby starting February 3rd. I was just looking at the ship information on princess.com and they have Crab Shack as a specialty dining experience. That option is not available for a reservation when I'm logged in looking at my cruise.

Can someone who has recently been aboard her tell me if Crab Shack is an option and if so, how I go about making a reservation?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  8. It’s been a few years, but if my memory is correct, the Platinum Studio is the small, exclusive one with professional photographers that actually know how to take outstanding photos. We bit the bullet and paid a hefty sum for this service and were very pleased with the quality of the package. A chimpanzee could do better than the standard fare in the public areas. The Platinum photographer really knew her stuff and took the time to educate us on the best attire, etc. She spent a lot of time with us and the results showed it. Expensive, but worth it.

  9. Okay, I accept your admonishment. I purposely used "gazillion" as a non-specific exaggeration. Not long ago, in the final months of 2017, it seemed like a clothing thread and ensuing discussion got going every other day. The problem is the Admins ended up deleting most of them as they descended into a lot of insults back and forth in some posts and I guess rather than exorcise some posts, they just killed it all. So, there ends up to be a lack of recent ones, but I have found CC Search works fairly well.

Anyway, it would be nice if some of the more common topics got "stickies" and not just the now ancient smoking thread. I think it would give folks a lot of quick answers and reduce the number of multiple discussions.

I did, however, go on to provide information and a reference point for the OP. I think it is always good to provide people more than a simple answer and give them reference points they may not be aware of or can help themselves in the future. At least the wine lovers think I am helpful.

Steelers36, it takes a big man (or woman) to do as you have done just now. All is well.

  10. Not having read the entire forum, I don't know if I can confirm that this was been answered a gazillion times. In fact, if it had been answered a gazillion times, I see no reason to answer it again, as a gazillion is not an actual number.

But let's be a little more realistic, and assume it has been answered 50 times (maybe 100). I thought the purpose of an internet discussion board was to ask questions. Some may want to take the time to read through and verify if their question was asked before, some may want to simply ask it and come back in an hour and read the answers. If your fingers are numb from responding to the same question "a gazillion times" I suggest you simply don't answer it.

If you've read everything there is to read on these boards over and over, I question why you still stick around.

If you can't make other guests feel welcome, or offer informative replies, why troll around insulting and harshly and rudely putting people down.

Thanks twokids0204. I was going to reply myself, but didn’t want to take the time.

Yes, I could do the research, but I actually work for a living and don’t want to read a ‘gazillion’ posts or go surfing around a lot.

I figure if someone wants to be helpful and answer my question, they can do so, and not answer if they don’t want to.

I appreciate all the helpful cruisers on this forum. I learn something new every time I stop by!

  11. I't been years since we last went to a Specialty restaurant on a formal night but I wore jeans & a Polo shirt without any question.

It seems a shame to eat at a Specialty restaurant on a formal night when the regular DR serves some of their better meals anyway. You might be able to change nights to a time when the menu in the DR is less appealing.

Agreed, except we don’t want to pack formal attire for the trip. Keeping it low key this time around.

  12. Hello fellow cruisers,

My wife and I are on Ruby Princess for the Mexican Riviera starting February 3. I booked reservations at Crown Grill for February 4 and 8, not realizing these are probably formal nights. We are not taking formal attire and thus need to avoid any venue requiring formal wear.

I called Princess and was told we do not need to wear formal attire in the specialty restaurants on formal night.

    Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!
