  1. I'm still at it. Sorta slow going, but check back as I have more info on the nursery up today.

Great info on the nursery! It looks so bright and clean and like your son really enjoyed it. I also like the activities they had planned throughout the course of the cruise. The hours are really accommodating if you want some adult time during the day or evening.

  2. Tagong- Thanks for posting your review! It sounds like you had a great time on the Magic. I was especially curious about the nursery so I'm glad you had a section about that!

Did you have any issues with the strollers around the ship? We have never sailed with kids and I never paid too much attention to those kind of details.

  3. If you want a "family" vacation, you'll take your child. If you want a couple's vacation...don't bring him!

True, at 2 years, he won't remember much...but YOU will! That's what it's all about! Having your child with you on vacation isn't different from having to care for your child at home, or anywhere else....

Thank you! He is our first child and we have yet to be on vacation with him. He is only 7 months old right now so this summer will be our first vacation with him. I think he would love it but some family members thing he is too young. I know it's all about personal preference!

  4. I thought I read something about this on here but cannot find it. Do you recommend seeing Rock of Ages while we are in port or at sea? I thought someone had commented to not see it on a sea day but I could be wrong.

Is it necessary to make reservations? This is our first Norwegian cruise.

    Thanks!

  5. Carnival Pride is a fun, quirky ship that just went thru an overhaul last year and received several upgrades. Some folks take exception to the "décor", but it's never bothered us. As a couple trying to recharge and reconnect, I think they'll have a great time. The Serenity adults-only area has already been mentioned and it is definitely a place the wife and I enjoy hanging out. We also like the sun deck above the pool deck...you'll always find a couple of chairs without any problems (chair hogs are a HUGE issue around the pool). There's a putt-putt golf course as well, which kills a bit of time. We always like to participate in bingo and the quiz and trivia contests (the ship-on-a-stick prize is quite coveted). The comedy shows are usually funny but the production shows are hit and miss. David's steakhouse is worth doing at least one night. Hope they have a great time!

Thanks swodog! I'll be sure to pass this info along to them. They are really excited for their first cruise and to take time to just be with each other and enjoy the week. Serenity sounds like a great area for relaxation!

  6. I've made many, many land vacations to Bermuda, and DH and me have sailed to Bermuda many times. It's my favorite island. I was just looking at the Carnival Pride Bermuda itineraries for next year. First off, we love leaving from Baltimore because we are 1 1/2 hours away. We just came off the Carnival Pride for the third time last Sunday. The Pride is a smaller ship in comparison to the mega ships of today. Very easy to get around.

If your friends prefer smaller ships; no climbing walls, bumping cars, or ice skating rinks, etc. then they may like the Pride. If they have children, it might not be the ship for them. The larger mega ships have more for families. The Serenity Deck is nice (adults only) if you can find a chair.

David's Steakhouse on the Pride is a great restaurant to try; I think it wa $30-$35 pp. The dining room was fine also. There is also a sushi restaurant just outside of the casino that we tried one day for lunch. It was very good and reasonable. If your friends like burgers, tell them to definitely try Guy's Burger's...yum!!

We've been cruising since the early 90's, so cruising has changed somewhat. We've cruised with most of the cruise lines though, and the Pride, for the money is a nice, fun ship. I hope your friends have a nice time. I hope they like Bermuda.

    We really like the Pride.

Thanks for the tidbits! Is Guys Burgers and the sushi restaurant complimentary? They are going just themselves and it's their first cruise ever. I'm just trying to give them some ideas to make it more enjoyable!

  7. Thanks all! I am not going on this cruise. My friends are first time cruisers and have gone through a very difficult year with one of their sick children. They are just looking to get away and recharge after all they have been through recently.

I have been to Bermuda with Royal Caribbean and am going again next year with NCL. I'm really just looking for tips about the ship since I've never been on the Pride.

I know their stay will be short in Bermuda but they are just happy to be getting away!

  8. My friend and her husband are going to be on the Carnival Pride sailing on Oct 26 to Bermuda. I haven't been on this ship before and it's their first cruise. Any tips you can provide that I can share with them? I haven't been on carnival in over 10 years so figured I'd ask here for any tips, fun things to check out, dining, etc. thanks!

  9. We have been to Bermuda 3 times in early May. If you are from the Northeast and are used to swimming the in the Atlantic ocean then you should be fine. However if you are south of the boarder the water will probably feel cold. We are on the May 8th Bermuda sailing next year.

We are from Maryland so we are used to the chilly Atlantic. We just booked the May 8 sailing as well. Pretty excited for our first Norwegian cruise!

  10. We are thinking cruising to Bermuda out of NYC on 5/1/16. Has anyone been in early May? Is it warm enough for the beach and to get into the water? We have been before but in August and I'm worried it won't be warm enough in early May for the beach.

  11. We've done 21 of our 27 cruises on Celebrity and RCL so I am not what you would call an NCL cheerleader. Having said that, we didn't cruise NCL for a long while because we read these types of reviews and listened to others opinion of NCL. That was a big mistake! Try it yourself. If you don't like it, then you know for sure. We have taken three NCL cruises and really enjoyed them. Now we have another option for cruising!

I know everyone has their own opinions and preferences when it comes to cruising and we are so used to RCs service that reading reviews of the Breakaway kind of scare us! We really want to try NCL for their freestyle cruising and The Waterfront looks neat. I agree that the only way to know for sure is to try for ourselves and see!

  12. I was on Breakaway and while she's a beautiful ship, it was one of my least favorite cruises. The food was pretty bad, even in specialty dining. The Italian restaurant was awful. Also I hated their use of the atrium area. Loud events and movies all day made a visit to guest services or OSheeans pub uncomfortable. And they held popular events there like the Live and Marriage show which meant very little seating. I really have no desire to go back on that ship which is disappointing. Although I love Royal it would have been nice to have another new ship option sailing from the Northeast.

We love Royal as well but living in the mid-Atlantic it's nice to have some other ship options that are less expensive than the new Quantum class ships. We went on Grandeur last year and enjoyed it but we can only do the Bahamas itinerary so much and when we can only go for a week that doesn't leave many options!
