Does anyone have any information and/or pictures about this cabin? This is our first RCI cruise and I hope we made a good choice of cabins.
Toni
We had this cabin last summer in Alaska. The BEST cabin IMHO for that trip. I have some picts and will try to get them posted.

Thanks for the videos. Were you port or starboard?
We were in 1556 (hump balcony) on the starboard side.

Your links aren't working.
Strange they are working for me in bare Firefox and Chrome browsers
Try adding the https:// before them

We were on the Radiance OTS July 3rd for an incredible visit to the Hubbard Glacier. The weather was perfect and the captain got extremely close. We sat off the glacier for well over 2 hours and got to witness ALOT of calving. We were really lucky.
I stuck my point 'n shoot camera on a tripod on the balcony in video mode (HD though) while I took pictures with my 35mm. I posted two of them to youtube. Unfortunately the calving wasn't on the videos.

I do have rapid shot sequences of some of the calving.

Sorry to hear that it was a disappointment. Hopefully the rest of your trip was great!
If you do a 'search' on this forum using the word Teckk, his bear viewing is definitely a hit or miss excursion.
In his defense though; bears are wild so it's hard to predict where and when they might be around. If salmon are running you can usually go to a fish hatchery or the river that feeds the hatchery and you'll find bear. But in looking at the Teckk web site the guy appears to be a local yocal with a rifle strapped on his back, hoping to come across a bear. There's no mention of peak viewing times, or where to go, or salmon runs. Seems like it's all luck.
Hope it didn't spoil your trip.
Yep, definitely saw hit or miss reviews, but none mentioned the actual tour. Most just rating were based on finding bears or not , which was not the highest priority for us.
We knew the slim odds because of it not being salmon season. The searching throughout the wild part of the island (partially on foot) was the goal. Any bears would have been a bonus.

That's how they do it when the salmon aren't running. Hoonah isn't like the other bear viewing tours in that they don't have a choke point for salmon like Anan Creek or Traitors Cove.
I wish I had known that before the tour, hence the original question post. If we would have known we would have done something different. From everything I found, we were expecting at least some hiking.
Seeing 0 or 100 bears would have made no difference to us in this type of tour. We still would have been disappointed. Especially since they had separately defined "U.S.F.S. Road Tour" which this bear tour basically was.

So we took the bear watching with Teckk and were very disappointed. They loaded 9 people in a van and promptly drove forest service trails for the next three hours. No hiking and only two quick stops to stretch our legs. Completely opposite of what was shown on their web site. The people in the back row of the van couldn't even hear the driver.
For almost $300 dollars I expected a lot more.

Anyone use Teckk Outfitters and Keith this season yet?
How was it?

Does anyone have a picture of a GS on the Serenade?
Here are pictures from GS 1048 which I stayed in last summer:

The land portion works the same as the ports of call during the cruise with one exception. RCI have defined tours/excursions that are part of the cost cruise tour package. These are listed in your itinerary. During the free time that is listed in the itinerary you can choose whatever tour or activity you would like and use the coupons then.
As an example we are doing the RCI 4a cruisetour and in Denali on the first day we are going on the Tundra Wilderness Tour which is paid for as part of the cruisetour. The second day in Danali is "free time" and we will look at some 3rd party tours or activities and not go with an RCI tour. RCI will push you towards their sponsored tours during your free time but you are not obligated to take them. Again this is similar to shore excursions on the ship portion of the trip.
Hope this helps. As my DW likes to remind me, I am horrible at explaining things
