  1. RC is going to announce big changes to Gold Status. There will be a new lapel pin just for gold status passengers. It has tracking through wifi and allows a gentle shock if to close to the Diamond lounge. We are also going to be given a tin bowl and plastic utensils when we board. We will now only be allowed to eat and drink from them during the cruise. Except formal night. There will also be a new GTD. Gold Time Dining. This is where Pinnacles will choose our dining times for us. Make Gold Great Again!

OMG that would be special. We could have a welcome back Gold members ceremony for the pinning of the gold status lapel pin. What would the dress code be? I would wear my best ripped t-shirt with old shorts and flip flops. Same outfit I wore at formal night in the MDR two days ago. That would bring a tear to my eye. :'):')

  2. Hah! In order to show all you holier than thou Diamond and above snobs, I just took out an equity loan on the house and booked a Star Class Suite on the Harmony.

I’ll be having my Genie usher me to the front of the line on every venue on and off the ship - right in front of you!

I’ve insisted that my gold seapass card be made twice the size for increased noticeability and the Genie must wear a twelve inch plaquard across his/her chest to let everyone know that I’m special because I have my own personal Genie.

Plus, I’ll get double points which will put me only 18 away from Emerald.

Oh yeah, I also took out a title loan on the car to prepay the gratuities.

Great way to finance the trip. Stupid me used my credit card. Only going to take me 25 years to payoff. You showed those prickacles.

  3. Here here. Even if your kid is diamond, this is not the place for them. They should be denying the emerald level children access to the good toys, and demanding the youth program staff produce a proper cup of coco at 102 degrees.

I can't believe so many kids are even on cruises. Shouldn't they be in school. Who would believe with all the water slides. rock climbing wall, flow riders and slides going out the azz of the ship kids would even want to cruise.

  4. I have spoken to lots of staff including bar staff and also my daughter worked for carnival for 2 years ..... THEY DO NOT RECEIVE YOUR GRATUITY .... it's just the same in the Resteraunt business. If you leave it on the bill and pay by card the company gets it. If you give cash you know they get it.

Last cruise I was on a couple of weeks ago I was chatting to one of the bar tenders and he was very unhappy as he never gets any of the bar gratuities. He told me he would be sacked by the company if he made it widely known.

Your statement is false!! I have worked as a waiter and received all of my tips that was left on a credit card.

  5. The "hole" experience?! Unless you meant to say the "whole" experience, I'm guessing your doctor is a proctologist; in which case one of your upper level C&A perks is the 3 free vouchers for extra K-Y jelly.

    CB

Take it like a Gold member. No extra K-Y jelly needed. Royal never uses extra K-Y jelly for Gold members.

    Gold Pride

  6. Just be careful flaunting your status.

I started a new job and told that I would be a gold employee. I could park in the gold parking deck and have all the rewards that gold employee get. WOW I was the golden boy. So on my first day I tell the receptionist that I'm the new gold employee. I get to my desk and head to the water cooler and I see my new friend the receptionist. She starts yelling at me to get out that the water cooler is for Double D and Double D+ and to go get my water out of the water faucet. I was shocked I walked back to my desk with my tail between my legs.

Well I'm not one to complain. But I'm going to take this up with my boss. I also need to talk to her about my parking area, the elevators, the dress code, the smoking area, the food in the main lunch room and all the kids at work.

But I'm not one to complain.

  7. There are all kinds of reasons you might see school age kids at a time you did not expect and I find the judgemental tone of some posters here pretty off base (assuming that all the kids they are seeing are being pulled out of school AND assuming that is bad and insisting it is some new fangled idea---ALL strike me as odd):

--some people do pull kids from school. I have grown kids of my own now and my parents pulled me every year growing up---my mom did not have enough seniority to get a vacation week when school was out until she finally snagged one when I was a junior in highschool. Our only chance to travel as a family was to take me out of school.

--there is huge regional variation in when schools have vacation breaks and many places are moving to year round schedules with more shorter breaks throughout the year and no long summer vacation; add in other countries' schedules and there are always going to be kids out

--lots of people homeschool, which allows them the flexibility to travel in low season and study in high season

--More and more online schools allow for the same type of flexibility as homeschooling

Well said. Many different reasons why you can see school age kids. My kids started school mid August and had a week break last week. Unfortounately no cruise. :(

  8. Hello Harry,

Thank you for posting your review. Like you my wife and I are both accountants. So as you are telling us about your dinner conversation I laugh because that is like my wife and I. Like you I am a proud cheapo dad. I am also a proud Gold member. On are last cruise we went to the welcome back party (for the free drinks) and a couple was being recognized for reaching pinnacle level. All I could think about was how much it cost them to become a pinnacle member.

We are considering a Freedom cruise. Have been on Oasis in 2013 and 2015. We only eat in the MDR (like you to cheap to pay for Chops) I noticed a decline in the MDR in food quality from my two cruise. But was still happy for the MDR on both cruises. I realize food is subjective. How would you compare the MDR food with you Allure cruise to your Freedom cruise? Thank you again and keep the money saving tips coming.:p

  9. QUOTE=Enforcer;51079142]Hi All,

Absolutely correct, anyone can make up a professional looking card. The only way that security will be satisfied is if they detect the metal with a "wand" if they aren't satisfied with that they will question you further, usually they will take you to a private room and ask to see under your clothing ( that is what they are interested in ), you can then show the scar which will satisfy them.

It won't be the first time that security will have come across internal metal work and it won't be the last.

    Pete

Agreed, when I had my hip replaced my Dr gave me a card but told me it will not mean much to security. Traveled on the Oasis last summer and didn't have any issues at the airport or cruise terminal. Nothing to worry about. Have a great cruise.
