  1. I have never used the product but all of my friends who cycle use BUTT BUTTER. It is for "those many" parts to not chafe/ rub raw when riding for many many miles. They say that you put it on and it slowly dissappears. Not sure if it would work for you but seems like an options. I think some are also called Chamoise cream.

  2. I just ran across this and thoroughly enjoyed your review and incredible pics. I have been to Alaska and have been on the Jewel's sister ship (Pearl). All was a stroll down memory lane. I have a trip booked on the Pearl in 2015 and am now thinking I need to go back to Alaska. I do concur that even if you dont like the cold---- cruise to Alaska. I am a So. Floridian and loved it. Just bring layers of clothes.

  3. It would be really helpful if there was a more formatted way to list when you start a roll call. Some put the numbers ( 03/14/2014) some spell it out (March 14, 2014) and other misc ways to list the cruise date. I did a search for 2014 figured that would narrow down my searches but I still had so many 2013 to sort through. I'd dont want to start a duplicate but not sure if there is one for my cruise date and I'm just not seeing it or what.:(

  4. I have not sailed on the ship in question so I am only commenting on your post. I am all for keeping things local and wish more peopel did (for whatever coutntry they are from). However, the cruise staff are not sentenced to work the cruise ship. If they feel they are paid far too little and work way to hard then possibly they should seek other options. This is the US. People pay good money to be on vacation and should get good customer service. I am appauled that we tolerate such attitude from workers anywhere. The more we allow poor service and bad attitudes the worse they will end up.

  5. I plan way ahead too. Mainly so I can purchase new items when I find them on sale. I live in So. FL so the clothes I buy for warm weather cruises are really just part of my summer wardrobe. About 3 weeks before I start hanging my cruise stuff all together so I can see my outfits. I also dont want to pack way more than needed. Done that. I usually have bottoms and tops for each night and then maybe an extra top or two for mixing it up. Dresses not included. I do pack several pairs of shoes but i am better than I used to be. I actually only bring one large suitcase. My first crusie ( Alaska) I had two. Granted jackets and socks take up room but way too much stuff. I usually cruise with my mom so I have someone to talk about cruises and clothes with. My husband just shakes his head.

  6. My first cruise about 25 yrs ago I had packed and then realized I needed a slightly larger suit case so I re-packed. However, I forgot to take my bathing suits out of a zip compartment. Back then they didnt have nice little surf type shops on board. Enjoyed the cruise but felt really dumb. Dont ever assume you have something packed. I pack the OTC items ( meds, lotions, etc) but dont stress over them. yes they are expensive but you can get them.
