  1. Thank you for the response.

I went back to the web site and found no option for MSC Voyager Account. I found an MSC Voyager Club menu option but It just goes to a page asking me to become a member - which I already am.

The reason I am asking is because my wife and I have had our status changed through the loyalty match program. The only confirmation we have now is an email message announcing the change. I can not confirm it through the MSC web site.

Is there something else I need to setup?

  2. Can someone explain to me how to order salmon with a bagel on the door hanger? Do I check the box for smoked salmon and also for bagel or does checking the smoked salmon box automatically include a bagel? Also, does the smoked salmon come with anything (capers, onion, cream cheese)? If not, can I request those as well?

Every time I had the room service smoked salmon, it came with capers and a few rings of red onion. Order the bagel separately, also the cream cheese (I have found that you need two orders of cream cheese to properly cover both halves of the bagel.) My bagels always arrive lightly toasted, without having to specify it on the card.

  3. If you can get a copy of "Dr Stillman's 14 Day Shape Up Program" (it's available on Amazon.com), it has a very comprehensive list of all types of foods, beverages, condiments, etc., with calorie/protein/fat/carbohydrate values. I use this book as my "bible" for figuring out carbs, especially in the vegetable and fruit categories. The only problem is that this diet was popular in the late '60's, so some of the foods that have become popular in the last decades (such as tofu), aren't on the list. He also has 14 days worth of menus which can give you an idea of portions/combinations to eat.

  4. We just got off the Liberty yesterday, and used the card on the door every day. Our orders were always on time. We put in a 15 minute window on the serving time (630a-645a for example). The orders were correct 95% of the time.

We write in "2 large pots" for the quantity of the coffee. The card asks the number of people the order is for, and we write in "2". Always got 2 coffee cups and 2 sets of utensils. 2 large pots of coffee worked out to about 5-6 full cups per person.

Salmon, bagels and cream cheese are on the menu, and they are good. One morning I wrote on the card a "BLT on white toast w/mayo", and it came correctly, and made a good breakfast as well.

Don't know how the hot water tastes in the pots, but the hot water coming out of the bathroom sink is HOT. It may even be hotter than what comes already poured into the pots.

  5. We were on the Sunshine in May, and just got off the Liberty yesterday. I really didn't care for the Sunshine. Lido buffet just was not very good, they never had a carving station all week, and the rest of the food was similar to a cafeteria steam table. Other food options were merely adequate. I thought the Liberty's food was very good.

Also, I really liked our cabin (balcony, 6th deck)on the Liberty, the style was quite Art Deco, and the lighting was well placed. There seemed to be a lot more storage in the cabin, with plenty of shelves, and we had a large bathroom. The Sunshine cabin (also a balcony)seemed cramped and ill laid out.

Actually, I even prefer the old Ecstasy over the Sunshine.

Of course, we had a great time on the Sunshine, as we always do.

  6. Can any of you Prinsendam fans tell me if the pools are easily accessible on the ship? I've been on the Westerdam and Zuiderdam and had no trouble, but was just on Carnival's Sunshine, and the ladders into the pool were too steep for me with my bad knee.

  7. We were on the Norwegian Sun a couple of years ago during Halloween. Nothing much was going on, but a few people were in costume. I'd gone to the Dollar Tree before sailing and made up costumes for my husband and me out of the things they sell, like plastic skeleton garlands, shrouds, battery operated light strings to wear as necklaces, etc. I think I spent about $15.00. Some of the crew admired them, so after the dinner hour, I tracked them down and gave them our stuff. They were absolutely thrilled! It turns out the crew was having a big party after hours, and it is really hard for crew to find Halloween items during their limited shore time.

So, if you think about it and want to participate, you might want to donate your costume later, or pick up a few extra vampire teeth or bat ears, whatever, to pass along to your favorite crew.

  8. We will be happy to continue to sail on HAC and always book a balcony cabin. I enjoy smoking on the balcony; actually, I spend far more time out on my balcony than anywhere else on the ship.

Most days, I am on the balcony from an hour before sunrise 'till the coffee's gone around 1030am. After lunch, most afternoons are spent on the balcony until just after sunset. Take a little time for dinner, maybe a little time in the casino, then back to the balcony for some star gazing before bed. We spend very little time in any of the public areas of the ship. We are on the cruise to enjoy watching the sea, and find the balcony the best place for that. It will make me very unhappy if I cannot smoke out there.

Since I spend so much time on the balcony, I have noticed that my neighbors do not get out there nearly as often as I do. I don't think this is because of my smoking, because a lot of the time I am just out there NOT smoking. Usually, my neighbors to either side may spend about 1/2 hour to an hour a day at the most outside. They will come out for 10 minutes or so, then go back in. This was the case last year on our 30 day South Pacific cruise and our 11 day Panama Canal cruise.

Personally, if they ban smoking on the balconies, it will detract greatly from my cruise experience.

  9. Are the pool ladder steps staggered or straight up and down on the Prinsendam? On the Westerdam, they were staggered at a slight angle, which made it fairly easy to climb up and down. We were just on a Carnival ship, the Sunshine, and their stair ladders were straight, and steep, which I found almost impossible to use.

We are thinking of a 30 day cruise on the Prinsendam, but the pool accessibility is important to me. Can anyone comment, or perhaps post a picture of the pool ladders?

    Thanks,

Mrs. Walkinman (should probably call me Gimpy Girl!)
