  1. My husband and I were just discussing what we would need to pay for to be able to upload our photos to my online backup. That is the only thing we will do internet-wise while on vacay, as we like to unplug.

We will be on Adventure in 2 weeks in the Caribbean.

We figured out that we will only need to upload photos on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights (we have multiple camera cards). I wish we could just pay for a certain number of hours. Hmmm...

If we decide to pay for Tuesday-Friday, for example, do they prorate the charges? We do have a bunch of onboard credit to use, so this isn't a major concern.

My understanding from reading the prior posts on this thread is that I will need surf and stream (higher-tier option) to upload photos. Is that correct?

  2. I have bought this package previously, (prior to boarding) the champagne has usually been in the stateroom on arrival, however I wouldn't like to say it would be there for definite, as other parts of the package did not arrive until much later in the day and on one occasion not until the following day!

If you have onboard credit, why not consider buying a bottle of champagne from one of the bars and get it 'to go' with 2 glasses?

Alternatively, the bar server will open the bottle, pour your 2 glasses and keep the rest of the bottle refrigerated until you come back from sail away. We have done all of the above before and all have worked out well.

    Hope this helps

I like the way you think! Maybe after we eat, we will buy the champagne directly.

  3. My husband and I want to purchase the basic romance package ($100), which includes champagne at sail away. Do we need to order it ahead of time, or can we do it as soon as we get onboard? Will ordering it asap on embarkation day prevent them from delivering the champagne in time for sail away?

We would like to use some of our on board credit to pay for it, and we were told we could not reserve it ahead of time based on our onboard credit balance, even though our balance shows way more than enough to cover the cost.

  4. We were there 12 years ago and I remember walking around the town, going to Senor Frog's for some kind of drink (I know it was popular, but I don't remember the name), and shopping at the straw market without ever taking a taxi.

But, I think it depends on how old your kids will be on the trip. It may be too much walking for super young kids.

  5. After lunch, we walked thru the shops and took in all the inside opportunities. The winds were still howling and the wind chill had many people inside. The Platinum theatre showed Kung Fu Panda 3 and it was packed.

I liked having music available during the day, and not just at night time.

As Tuesday was the first formal night, we headed back to the room to get dressed. It took me about five minutes to get my tuxedo and boots on, another two minutes to tie the bow tie. The wife took a bit longer...

We skipped the photo barrage and entered the MDR punctually at 5:30 PM. Kevin was at our table, as was another couple. They were also from Oklahoma and were cordial. We would only see them one more evening as they also ate at other locations.

The Monday menu was Saffron. I ordered shrimp cocktail again, as I would every night. Our assistant waiter automatically brought me fresh horseradish, too. That was a nice touch. I don't recall what my better half had, and had no pictures to reference!

For dinner I ordered the Premium Angus beef sliders. They were just fair. The meat was tough and the buns were retired hockey pucks. Dale, the male from the second couple, appeared to like my order and requested them as his second entree. Lunch was definitely better than dinner! Sorrento's, here we come later!

After dinner, we visited the Hoof and Claw pub. We had a couple take a couple of pictures for us. That just saved me $100!

I procured a Heineken and the misses had a strawberry daiquiri.

The Promenade was hopping, with formal pictures everywhere and a live band. It was quite enjoyable.

Tell your wife I think her dress is beautiful! All that sleeping in did her good, too, because she has a wonderful smile on her face. :)

  6. OP as you can see opinions vary:D If you're doing a southern route I'd disregard the opinions that mentioned an "extra sea day". You're flying to Puerto Rico to see the southern Caribbean - see 5 ports:) And they are are good ones!

BTW - are you sure "St Johns" is one of the ports? I think it's probably St Thomas? Of course you can get to St Johns from there.

That is true. This will be my 4th cruise, and I have been waiting to do the Southern Caribbean for about 8 years!

  7. I don't know enough about you to answer. We did option #1 out on Jewel in 2014 and we enjoyed it immensely. Now we are going back on Adventure and doing 3 ports we have never done before.

St Martin we have done, then Aruba, Bonnaire, and Curracao.

It will be along time before I go!

The port heavy option includes three ports we have never done, while the other option includes two ports we have not done. [emoji3]

  8. Both 7 nights or is one longer?

EDITED to add: nevermind, I just looked it up. Personally, I think you'll get both answers on this board because it's personal preference.

So what do YOU want to do???

I am leaning toward fewer stops and better snorkeling. However, I will make a pro/con list and go from there. [emoji3]

  9. We alterante between the two each February. 2016 will be the port extensive and we may visit shore and then enjoy the ship and possibly have dinner in one of the specialty restaurants fairly early, lazy day. Both are great! Also, we think of budget as for each port we budget at least $100.

You make a good point that more ports can be more money. I do love the idea of an empty ship, though.
