  1. Here is the exact paragraph from the Homeland Cruise itinerary letter.

We appreciate your understanding of these necessary changes. As a token of our appreciation, we will be adding a $250 shipboard credit to your account for this voyage for each guest. This credit can be applied toward optional shore excursions, onboard services or used to purchase a Silver Spirits Beverage Package. Additionally, upon your return you will receive a 10% Future Cruise Voucher based on your paid cruise fare. The voucher can be used toward any future voyage with Viking—river, ocean, or expedition—and will be emailed to you after the cruise.

The  10 % discount can not be used until you return from your cruise.  To me that means you could get a discount for a cruise in 2024.  If your cruise will be completed in the summer or fall of 2022

you would have already paid for a 2023 cruise.  Sorry I am not convinced that Viking is the Cruise line for me.

  2. Yes, The Homeland tour has been modified.  They took out St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Tallinn Estonia.  They added Oslo, Bornholm and Mariehamn.  Since I was scheduled to do Oslo on a pre cruise trip I will get to see a lot of Oslo.  That is if  we don’t cancel.   They took out St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Tallinn and added more Oslo for me and two stops I never heard of.   The video they sent said you could relax at those stops.  I think that is code for nothing to do.  They made all of those changes( took out 3 major ports) to a 15 day cruise that with air is costing just under $34,000 and they offered $250  per person cruise credit.  Wow what an offer.  I know that the St. Petersburg change is not Vikings fault.  But then again it is not my fault either.

We are really debating cancellation.  If we were not going with neighbors we would have already cancelled.  This cruise has been paid for a year. This was to be my first Viking Ocean cruise but having to pay for a cruise a year and a half early is strange to me.  Let me know what you think.

  3. We had Walter on the Reflection and were quite spoiled.  I was in charge of an excursion in Santorini.  We needed to be ferried to the port and then up the lift.  There were other ships that were ferrying and the lifts don’t take that many.  Walter had my group meet at the library and he took us to the first ferry to Santorini.  We were so early to meet our tour we went to a coffee shop.

Walter is the best I have ever seen.  He was there when we needed him and not there when we didn’t, that is an art.
