  1. We will be sailing on Carnival Panorama next June and we will be in port from 9 am to 9 pm. Does anyone know of any volunteer opportunities in Puerto Vallarta, or is there an organization you can direct me to?  We will have a group of  20. Thanks bunches.

I can’t speak to the Barcelo, but at the Riu where we had a day pass they sure did.  We got there at 9 and every beach chair had a folded towel on it. Since there were so many, we thought it was an amenity they provided.  Well at 11am a couple arrived at our chairs and demanded that we move because they put their towel out at 6:30am to reserve the chairs.  We refused to love and they called security. Security was able to find them other chairs. It certainly did not make for an enjoyable day.  Those chair hogs make cruise chair hogs look like amateurs.

I have a day pass for RIU, did you just take a cab from the port? How much was it?  Thanks

  3. Happy Cruising!! I am sailing on Norwegian Sky to the Bahamas, and I found an excursion with a tour company that is really nice. $51 to Baha Bar in Freeport, with drinks, beach chairs, water sports and an open bar included. But they only pick up from local hotels. I tried to contact them directly and I was put on hold for about 45 minutes with no response. Has anyone been to Baha Bar?  How did you get there, and what was the cost?

    Thanks.

We just did the wine-tasting for the first time last month and really enjoyed it! Two wineries, lots of food to snack on with your wine (cheese, bread, olives, crackers, jellies, etc. but quite filling), plus we each received a bottle of wine to bring back.

I am thinking of taking the wine tour. Which tour operator did you use?  Or did you do the ship's excursion?

    thanks.

  5. hello,

Doing a southern carribean cruise that starts and leaves from Puerto Rico.

    1) is there a customs type process when disembarking?

    2) is there generally lots of taxis at the port. Planning a taxi from port to airport.

    3) does uber operate in San Juan?

    Many thanks!!

I was in one of the boards for either San Juan or Carnival Fascination and I saw taxi prices posted and someone mentioned the cost of an uber from the airport. So I think you answers are yes, but to be sure search those boards.

  6. Has anyone used Ted's Tours in Barbados? Pros/cons? Tour recommendations.

Did you find anything out about the tour company? We will be in Barbados in November and have a nice size group and we want to find some inexpensive things to do.

    Thanks

  7. Hey All. My daughters and I went to La Bufadora a couple years back. We took the tour bus from the port and booked our excursion in town where they dropped us off. We had a great tour guide named Chino, and at the flea market at La Bufadora there were a couple of Tigers and a Panther that we could pet and take photos with. Are they still there? My husband is dying to see them this trip. But I don't remember them being there last year. Anyone know for sure? Does anyone have a list of the excursions that are offered by the tour that take you to in town?

    Thanks.

  8. Hi, we're doing a 4 Dayer on the Imagination this Saturday. Can anyone tell me approximately what time the cabins are opened? Trying to decide whether to check luggage or carry it on. Thanks!

See you Saturday!! Before the staggered check in, I've been on board before noon and the rooms have been ready. They should be ready by the time you board. I rarely see people with luggage around the ship. But it could be because I'm so excited I'm not paying attention. Enjoy your cruise!!

  9. Thanks for the info Phoenixx.

I am trying to figure out a place to go kick back on the beach. Anyone have any suggestions for safe beach areas?

I wish I could remember the name of the beach we went horseback riding on. But it was only 10 minutes from the port. It looked pretty clean, and when we were there the kiddos were getting out of school and kinda cheering us on along the way. I'll see if I can find any photos that may have the name of the beach and let you know. But you may be able to ask one of the tour operators at the port (busses lined up outside) where the beach is and they should be able to instruct you. If I remember correctly, there weren't any chairs or anything, just a public beach.

  10. Hey, a little over two weeks until we go. I was looking for the name of the buses that are parked at the port that take you into town. They have good deals on excursions. Two years ago, we went to the Blowhole and horseback riding for$25/pp and a $3 ride in town. I couldn't find it but I did find a company called Ensenada Tour Guide and they have pretty good packages. We are going to do the zip line, ATV, and Blowhole. They have several packages. I would check them out just to see what kinds of things you can do while there.
