My DH and I just upgraded to a balcony GTY from an inside. This is our first balcony and we are really excited. I was just wondering is there any perk beside the actual balcony- which I am still so happy about? Thanks for any help in advance.

Some equate a good time to unlimited piles of marginal food, a.k.a. the "trough" or otherwise known as the buffet. Others want more what passes for "food" for real food and for those people, there are the specialty restaurants. I don't include the "all you can eat" meat specialty restaurants in the real food category as gluttony does not equate with dining. Sitting next to "people" passing for starving snarling dogs is not my idea of a good time.

 

 

 

Will I pay extra to not have to listen whining children or sit next to idiots wth backwards baseball caps and mustard stains on their "wfe beaters", yes, in a heartbeat.

Posts like this make me laugh. I'm sure those "idiots" or "snarling dogs" paid the same amount for their cruise and deserve to enjoy it as they see fit. Vacation is about over indulgence and it's sad your vacation is based around what other people are doing to enjoy themselves.

I feel like I never get to enjoy dessert because I'm so full off of the meal. We usually do ice cream at some point during the day but I think the bread pudding was good as well.

You can bring your wine anywhere. We had some at dinner and then took it back to our cabin because we didn't finish it. We also drank some on the deck by the pool one night- we just asked the bar for 2 glasses and handed them back when we were done.

We've done it and plan to do it on our upcoming cruise. It also depends which port. You can go to the ports of call section and locate the ones you'll be going to and look through threads for local tours/excursions.

Just read somewhere that you have to reserve a spot for shows? Does anyone have info or a link for that info? We cruised 2 years ago and that was not the case. Just wondering how that works. Thanks in advance.

I love NCL and I think the only thing I'd love is bigger pools. I saw a couple people mention you have to make reservations for entertainment? Does that mean I have to go on the website and reserve seats for all shows on our cruise on the Gem in March?

I think we both got it wrong.:D looks like its the OP's friends girlfriend who is 19. She will yes be able to join the rest in the adult venues but not be able to purchase alcohol. She legally will not be able to consume alcohol on the ship but if the legal drinking age is 19 or younger, like it is in most countries she will be legal on land.;)

Yes - any time you see age restrictions, it's 18 and older, so she'll be fine. Her card will indicate she can't drink.
