Looking forward to following along. We’ll board on January 14. Please let us know if luggage valet is available on your cruise-it wasn’t on several recent ones on the Silhouette. Have a great meal at Tuscan
I might be late on posting this, as I just now came across this thread. There was no luggage valet on this cruise, we tried. Our concierge said there was not enough interest. They never advertised it. I found out about it prior to our depart, from my brother.

The form that was filled out by customs, made absolutely no sense, but we payed the amount and went on our way.

Well thank you to all on the explanation. We have cruised several times, just never ran in to this prior. We did buy more this time, so now we know.

When does duty free or tax free mean nothing? Just off the Celebrity Silhouette, bought some jewelry onboard. We get stopped by customs coming off of the ship. We were "randomly selected," so we were told at first, then later told that we were flagged. But we had to then, pay taxes on our purchases.

Yes, some dress formally on Evening Chic nights. There were many in formalwear last week on Eclipse.
Is there a particular night, namely Tuesday, Wednesday, etc?
-
Is there still a particular night or two, where it is still a formal night, by choice of course?

I hope you are correct. We want to check out Old San Juan again, but would rather do it within walking distance, as to taking a bus/taxi.

I have been searching all over the internet, as to which port the Silhouette will come in to for a day visit on 12-17. No luck. We want to visit Old San Juan again, so hopefully not the Pan American Pier.

No, you cannot use OBC to pre-book excursions - you must wait until you're onboard to do the booking. If there's a tour that you especially want, that you would be very disappointed if you missed, then book & pay for it in advance. Anything else, wait until onboard if you have plenty of OBC.
Thanks Kartgv, that's exactly what I thought, and that's exactly what I did. A 2 hour on board tour, galley, laundry, engine room, even the bridge. I've read that these go quickly, and never included a trip in to the bridge.

Can OBC be used to purchase excursions on Celebrity`s website or do you have to wait until onboard?

We have sailed Celebrity several times, but never used their Choice Air program. What are the advantages or disadvantages?

Thank You Heather for the great review, awesome pictures. My lovely wife and I were to do this cruise in April 2014, but health issues caused us to postpone, and Celebrity was more then willing to accommodate. Too bad that U.S. Air doesn't share the same customer relations department. We did in fact though, switch to the other Southern, on-board the Summit, December 2014. We too, spent and extra day in San Juan. Your pictures of Old San Juan and St. Thomas (the only port that was shared by the 2 different cruises), brought back a lot of fun memories. And 1 last note, we also had cabin 9001 and loved the extra room. It did seem to be a bit "rockier", being so far forward I guess, but never posed a problem. Now, my brother and sister in law, had 9000, and she begged to differ.
Going back on the Silhouette December 2016, Western Caribbean again. Can't wait.

We took the Pride of America cruise maybe 4 years ago. It was a convenient way to see the Hawaiian Islands. We did spend extra time in Hawaii pre and post cruise so we spent 16 days in total. At the time we were relative newbees to cruising but our actual cruise experience with Pride of America wasnt all that great. There dining plan was interesting but typically long waits unless you went really early or late. The crew was not very friendly and the cleanliness of it left something to be desired. The excursions were just fine. As I said we were new to cruising and didnt have to much to compare to other than a couple RCCL cruises in the Caribbean. I doubt we would take it again, but it is a convenient way to see several of the Islands. After all this cruise (like Alaska) is all about the beauty and splendor of the islands and not about the ship experience. In these cases it is a floating hotel.
Everything that you mentioned about the POA, is exactly what I have read. Not a top of the line ship, service, food, etc. I'm afraid I would be constantly comparing it to Celebrity. Although, I know that we are going to Hawaii to see the islands, not the ship, but it "IS" your hotel for 7 nights. Decisions, decisions.

FYI,
Oahu based NCL Pride of America cruises a good amount of the islands.
Means flight to Honolulu vice Vancouver, but a shorter cruise and more ports with less sea days....
Just saying....
I was just looking at the NCL website, and the Pride of America, thanks. That may be an option.

If you have 15 days you could try Princes from Los Angeles or San Francisco.
Just looking at a 10-11 day trip. Couldn't afford anymore. LOL

The Celebrity Hawaii cruises either originate in Vancouver and go to Hawaii or originate in Honolulu and go to Vancouver.
The itenararies include Honolulu, Maui (Lahaina), Hilo and Kona.
Thanks Cruzzzinma, I've just started looking, didn't even realize that. I guess I will just have to look at air fares, combined with the cruise prices, and compare both ways.

Looking to surprise my lovely wife, with a Hawaiian Cruise, for our 35th wedding anniversary, on nothing else BUT, Celebrity. Any suggestions? Islands, which cruise, etc.? Don't know whether to fly to Hawaii and cruise back to the states, or visa-versa. I'm open for ideas.

Ours too. $175 on mine and my wife's also. Nothing in my "shopping cart" or "order history".

I'm asking what beer brands?
-
What beers are included in Princess`s $10 or under package?
Also, I've read that this is a waste of money on other cruise lines. On our last cruise, we saved $400+ by purchasing the pkg, on Celebrity. One night, that's it, we had a really great time. It's just very convenient.

I too, want to say thank you HeatherC430. Awesome review and thanks for the pictures. Really enjoyed the pics and review of cabin 9001, as that is the cabin that we will be staying in next December.

Great Review Ron! We are headed on summit February 2015. I noticed someone mentioned the drink package but I couldn't seem to located your post on the upgrade you did. Can you explain this? I have never been on Celebrity.
I also heard the "formal nights" are not so formal on Celebrity. Is this true?
TIA!
First, we sailed Celebrity last April, did the drink package thing, saved about $200. More convenient to pay ahead, then pay later. You can find out more by visiting Celebrity`s website.
Second, to each their own on formal nights. Some men wear tuxedos, some wear suit/ties. Some ladies wear formals, some wear nice dresses.
And some don`t even dress up, it`s basically for those eating I believe.

I'll be in room 9001 in a couple of weeks (Feb 1st sailing). I'll be posting a review with lots of photos & details upon my return!
We will be staying in 9001 for our Dec. 2014 sailing. Looking forward to your pictures and reviews.

All depends if it gets advertised and enough interest. We just came off of the Silhoutte a few weeks back, in which it was not advertised, not enough interest, so it was not offered, all per our concierge.
