Club Veranda. I didn't apply for anything - it's an upgrade within the same class but a much better location. Turned up with the luggage labels dutifully affixed and they said they'd have to change them.

I did get sent the upgrade bidding options before the cruise but the price differences didn't make any of them that attractive. Quite happy with the Veranda cabin.

That is awesome! We have sunset veranda on 7 so it is between residential floors. I would do an upgrade to a suite, but not if it on 8 under the pool or buffet.

Your trip looks AmaZing! Out itinerary is in Italy and I hope we can share the same freedoms with caution that you have! Please keep posting. Your posts are like reading a really good blog! Thanks for taking the time to do this

  2. Thanks so much for doing this. Loving vicariously through your posts, which are also making us more comfortable about our fall one. Happy belated birthday and please keep up the posts. I hope someone from Azamara sees these and comps you some internet.

One question, are you Club Veranda or Club Veranda Plus? Did you apply for the upgrade, or did they automatically do it?

  3. I am a bit concerned about the logistics of coming off the ship in Citavecchia with several pieces of luggage and roll boards. Hard to maneuver on multiple trains from port to Termini and then to Sorrento. Would love to find a short cruise (they do not seem to list in Italy-comparable to our Caribbean hops from Ft Lauderdale) r guided excursion that would include transportation and handle the luggage. Found a few, but they severely limit luggage. Any ideas that do not have us on trains with connections and do not cost an arm and a leg?

  4. My DH and I are traveling to Alaska in celebration of our Medicare birthdays this August…Celebrity Solstice. In researching excursions, we keep finding tours that are reasonable and interesting offered by ToursinAaska.com. They have tours in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway that are appealing, but we cannot find reviews of this company anywhere. Has anyone travelled with them? Do they guarantee that you get back to the ship in time? Would anyone like to form a group with us?

  5. We are flying delta from home to venice and barcelona to home in june 2014. We also booked economy comfort, but wondering about those power outlets you mention. Are they usb ports or do you use chargers like the ones we use in the car outlets? We are on similar itinerary to yours, so pulled good info from your review. Thanks for taking the time to share your trip with us all.

I think they were usb and regular outlets. They were hard to find, but worked well.

Enjoy the trip. It is amazing.

  6. We have booked med cruise for june 2014 and planning our excursions, so went on cruise critic for info and came across your reviews. Great pics and good info. Think your mom is in or close to our age bracket, so wondering how all that walking was for her and how feet held up. Pretty close to same itinerary. Interested in what anyone has to say about excursion to capri and the funicular trip up. Thanks again for great blog of your trip, as we countdown to our own

Her mom here! The walking was very manageable despite an injury that had my knee in a brace on one leg and a broken toe on the other. The folks we toured with were very helpful and patient when I had to go slowly, The hardest part were all of the stone steps, but if you go at a comfortable pace, you can do it all. Of course my feet hurt, but so did the 30 somethings feet. My son and his girlfriend are taking a similar cruise in June...maybe you will meet up! See it alland you will be happy you did! Enjoy

Lol...I did not see that Dana had already answered you in basically the same way.

  7. We're you or your mother exhausted after the cruise? We are planning a Europe trip. We are thinking 1 week sightseeing before the cruise. Then the 12 day cruise. Then another week sightseeing. 4 weeks total. Me, my wife and 4 boys. Ages 14 to 18. Is that too much? I am worried we ill be exhausted.

Her mom here! Yes, exhausted, but exhilarated. Try to plan some down days, laundry days, etc. Cruise is very port intensive, so you will be tired. You will be away for so long, that you can plan some very leisurely days in between. ALso, bring lots of over the counter meds. Everyone on the ship had colds, etc, and we knew and had cold pills, advil etc. Much harder to find in European stores. BUt if you have the time for a trip like that...go for it! The memories overtake the exhaustion!!

  8. Thanks Kathy! I actually just spotted you in the background of one of my photos in Athens ;) It was great meeting and touring with you and Joel!

Kathy, we wanted to email or FB you and Joel, but we do not know your last name or email address. Can you email me the info? I want to tell you what a great time we had with you, and I have several pics of the 2 of you that I could tag. email me

Thanks Dave! I might not have as much energy as I would like, considering the 10 hours of sleep I got each night this week still wasn't enough to recover from my cold, but writing the review is a fun distraction from the real world :)

Loving memories of the tours we took together Dave. And LOVING having a new gaming buddy in your beautiful blonde!!
