  1. Not sure if this will help or not, here is my take on the redemption values for the Barclaycard Holland America Card.

    5000 thru 49999 points        = $50 thru $499.99 statement credit (points x 0.01)

    40000 thru 119999 points    = $500 thru $1499.99 statement credit (points x 0.0125)

    100000 thru 133399 points  = $1500 thru $2000.99 statement credit (points x 0.015)

    100050 thru 200049 points  = $2001 thru $4000.99 statement credit (points x 0.02)

    160040 and up.                      = $4001 and up (points x 0.025)

So, pretty much, you want to save up your points so they are worth more in dollar value. Best case, wait till you have over 160,040 points then you get $4001 statement credit. If you used 40,000 points on 4 trips to get $500 in credit each time instead of waiting till you have 160,040 points to get $4001 you’re missing out on that potential extra $2,000. Having said that, if it takes years to save up 40,000 points, maybe $500 off your cruise is a good deal.

  2. I am on the cruise and relying on the elevators as I am currently using a walker having broken my leg earlier this year. All 4 are working today, but 1 of the forward elevators was down for 5 out of 7 days so far. This makes getting on and off the ship much more difficult as most times the gangway is deck 4 forward and lots of people waiting in line to use it.

Other than the elevator issue, I haven’t noticed too much to be concerned about, our cabin is very nice, no plumbing issues. Staff have been very friendly and helpful.

  3. Hi, Am I the only one who cannot open your report? The page shows: "404 Error File Not Found

The page you are looking for might have been removed,

had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

I checked this morning and it does seem to be working, there are 2 different sets of pages, 1 very long page and 3 by week pages.

  4. Thank you so much for providing the link to your wonderful trip report. Your pictures and videos were fabulous! I've always wanted to do that cruise, now it's pretty well at the top of my 'next' cruise list! I very much appreciate it.

We felt it was important to document as we went along as there's so much happening in three weeks, you may forget stuff if you wait a few days. We had been looking at doing this cruise for a few years, managed to make it work alongside my 50th Birthday which was cool.

  5. OUTSTANDING!!!

Thank you SO much for posting the link. Our favorite cruise, by far, so it is especially memorable to read about your trip and see the photos which are marvelously varied.

Hope Bay did not disappoint with the breaching penguins! That was a highlight for us and they stayed around for 4 hours on Christmas Day.

This is the clearest weather down the west coast and through the Antarctic that we've seen and you were fortunate to see so much wild life! Really a perfect trip!

    Many thanks!

I suspect we just got really lucky with the weather, Antarctica was clear everyday we were there.

  6. Ship seemed in reasonable condition, there were certainly a few areas where things were worn and in need of repair. Our cabin was fine, toilet got clogged twice, but that seems about average based on previous experience. The shops and casino seemed quiet, wife wanted to play poker, but not enough interest. I did however win the slot tournament, starting from last place. Room cards seemed to be a big issue, saw many people getting new ones printed and commenting this was the 3rd or 4th time.

  7. Food was excellent, we ate in the MDR every night at 8pm except for one trip each to pinnacle and Canaletto which were also excellent. Because we had the late dinner we didn't go to the entertainment, so can't comment on that. I think there was only one night I had trouble choosing a main course and opted for a veggie option, but that's more to do with being picky than lack of options.
