  1. Hi All,

In honor of our almost 1 year anniversary I am posting the GoPro video of our Carnival Freedom cruise.

This year I will be doing a 12 day extravaganza to San Juan and 7 days on the Valor with 2 GoPro's a Hero 3 silver and Hero 4 Black.

I can't wait to create some new memories in March.

  2. Hi ColKlink, That's great!! I hope you have a great time.

Since you mentioned you're renting a car, I thought of a couple other things:

    - There was another stop we would have liked to make but couldn't find it. If you can, you may want to look up "Dieppe Bay" where there is supposed to be a black sand beach, and it's where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. We may have seen it from afar...but couldn't be sure. I'm posting a picture of what we think it might have been below.

    - At the place where we saw the black volcanic rocks, there were signs saying not to climb down and walk around them. Since I've seen pictures of people right on the rocks on other reviews, you may want to see if there are more areas to see them.

    - Grab a map from the rental car agency. It came in handy a couple times to have the local map with the touristy sites on it. :-)

    Maybe this is Dieppe Bay??

    excellent - Thanks again

  3. At 11 am I was very interested in how the whole smuggling booze thing worked on the ship. ****notice**** I used Rum Runners to smuggle booze onto the ship. If you have a problem with that...save your breath. I honestly don't care. To set your mind at ease I still purchased plenty of drinks. And so did everyone else on the ship. Trust me when I tell you that Carnival will not go broke from people smuggling booze. I used to be a manager at a restaurant and I know how much it costs and I know how much it's marked up. They know people smuggle booze and if they were that worried about it they would actually do something about it. Like not have there liquor check in table so far away from the xray scanner. Moving on...

Our plan was to see if our booze made it on and if it didn't we were going to buy some at CVS and try to smuggle it the old fashioned way (after it being tagged we would put it in our back pack and just walk on past the check in table that is literally WAY out of sight of the scanner. And that check in table is tucked away in a little corner right before you step onto the ship. You wouldn't hardly notice it was there if you weren't looking for it). So we were hoping our room was ready and our luggage was there so we could know if our booze made it on or not.

Awesome I love it! I love my Rum Runners they are the best invention. I am bringing more than ever this year when we sail the Valor in March. I am thinking of making green Jell-O shots for St. Patty's Day.

We are doing the Segway tour also - thanks for the pics it looks great.

  4. We rented last March and it was the best decision. We drove to Playa Lagun - very easy to find and drive. We also stopped at the grocery store on the way to get a case of Amstel Light for the beach (drinking on the beach is legal). I rented a van and 10 of us went.

Playa Lagun was awesome- well worth the money. Great snorkeling from the beach.

  6. We will be in Curacao from 8am-5pm. Trying to decide about renting a car and driving around on our own. The few post I have read about renting is they are more expensive to rent at the port and they may not even have a car.

So do they have taxis that will take you around the island or tour companies when you get off the ship that are reasonable in price? I don't find any interesting tours from the ship we would be interested in doing. So looking for other options.

Don't know if anyone has any "current" prices for renting a car or any of the "local" tour prices.

  7. Did this itinerary on the Freedom last March.

    Snorkeled :

Grand Turk - Free off of the beach - nothing spectacular but t was free.

Curacao - Rented a van and drove to Playa Lagun. Snorkel right off the beach it was excellent. $50.00 for a car for the day. Easy driving - 20-30 minutes to get there. Stopped at a grocery store on the way. Bought a case of Amstel light and drank beers on the beach after my snorkel. They also have a dive shop there.

    Enjoy,

  8. random question but I uploaded a video with a song and they pulled it off because I was using copyright video. However I notice on your video there is a link to purchase your song you are using and I'm wondering if I did that would they still smack me down?

how did you add that option to your comment section?

I can only speak from my past experience and research. Basically if you have bought the song from a credible source like Itunes you should be okay. I believe you tube has a way of tracking the info on a song that is uploaded. Any song downloaded by Itunes has all the information filled in on it digitally. Also make sure that you credit the artist and where you downloaded the song from in your notes. If you have done all these things then your video should not be taken down. They are worried about piracy and copyright infringement.

Adding notes into the comment section is easy. Go back to your video on Itunes after you log in and you should be able to click on a comment section where you can add comments to it.

    I hope this helps,

  9. thanks for the review. does Freedom have an adult pool area in the back? also, Can you tell me about the Serenity area? how was the volume on Lido?

    Thanks!

Freedom does have an Adult pool in the back, it is very nice. The pizza place is there also (very convenient).

The Serenity area was very nice. I was thoroughly impressed with the furniture and how comfortable it was on the serenity deck.

The volume on the Lido was no problem. The ship was full and we always were able to get chairs everyday. Carnival has upped their game, there were many activities going on throughout the ship at the same time. This helped control the crowds on the popular places like the Lido deck. I also love having my cabin on the Lido deck, very convenient.

  10. LOL - yes, this thread did just that! (since the other thread was zapped) I thought the drydock was only for 2 weeks. Can't figure out how they will make the Lido pool larger in that time period?? That seems like major construction to me. Great video, btw. I am so amazed at how professional it looks with that gopro. How long does it take to edit something like that?

Thanks for the Kudos on the video.

I took approx 2 hours to edit the video. I have so much footage it was very hard to choose what to place in it.

  11. Just back from the Carnival Freedom on Sunday. It was fantastic!

Let me start by saying that this was my 8th cruise (5th on Carnival) and it was by far the best. Carnival has really stepped up their game and placed thought into many areas.

All my pics are on a you-tube video folks. Here is the link

  13. Wow, great video! I'll have to get one of those cameras, too. It's about time for an upgrade anyway!

Shhhh. You've just spilled Carnival's most deeply held secret! Never mind Coca-Cola's secret formula, the Freedom upgrades are Top Secret! :)

Did they mention the Blue Iguana Cantina, or just the Pub?

I still do not know why they are keeping things such a secret. It was announced to everyone that can hear it on the ship. Strange, why keep it a secret at this late date.

They only mentioned the pubs being changed, I do not know about the cantina. They currently have bars on either side of the Lido deck near the pool. I figure they will be changing those into the pubs.

  14. Thanks. It's just so nice to hear you say it is a great ship, even without the upgrades.

Don't know when they will let people in know what the upgrade will be

Either way your gonna have a great time. I think you will have the upgrades by the time you get on board. The staff is great so no matter, upgrades or not you should have a great time.

  15. THANKS for sharing your great experience and AWESOME VIDEO! We were on Freedom 6 day last summer and liked it so much we are going on an 8 day this June 1, w' different stops than yours. ....but seeing your video and reading the comments has really got me excited.

I want to ask you about the Piano Bar and entertainer. My wife and I loved the piano bar last year, but it was a different entertainer (Marty Gast). Could you tell me about the piano bar entertainer on your cruise and did you enjoy?

Also, did you visit the bar just outside the Piano Bar Lounge and have any of Nuur's fantastic martini's?:):)

Thanks for the kudos on the video.

The Piano Bar entertainer was very good. He was in one of the pictures at the end of the video. Larry Moynahan (I probably spelled it wrong) took our requests and was very good. We had a couple of really good parties in their during the first two nights, but it gets old quick because it is the same thing night after night. I recommend you only go once or twice to keep it special. We went a third night and it just was not the same.

I did visit the bar outside the Piano Lounge, no Martina's though. I was on a Mojito kick that night. I am jealous you are going back on board, it was a great trip.
