  1. Ms. Ernie - (Someone can correct me if i am wrong) I think its just a night where you can wear your Caribbean Style shirt/outfit to the MDR/Windjammer (they may have Caribbean style music playing).

In the Cruise Compass it says "Tonights Dinner Dress Suggestion: Caribbean Night"

Thank you. I think I'll skip buying the hubby a Hawaiian shirt then. He would never wear it any other time!!

  2. The only themed dining room night we were aware of was Caribbean night, although there was a 70's dance party one evening on the Royal Promenade. We never saw any singing or special announcements in the dining room, was a little disappointed on that, usually have a good time watching our waiters singing and having a good time

What is involved in "Caribbean Night"? Want to plan ahead for whatever it is.

  3. I know I've seen other posts about this but how necessary are passports? We are going to Cozumel and Progreso but only getting off the boat in Cozumel. Please tell me we're not crazy for not having passports [emoji4]

I can't imagine in today's political climate traveling anywhere outside the US without a passport. If I'm on a cruise to St. Thomas and get seriously ill I would be taken off the ship while in port for medical treatment. Then I'm officially off the ship with no passport. I don't even want to think of the problems I might have getting back into the US. I wouldn't dream of traveling outside the US without a passport. But that's just my two bytes worth.

  4. And to provide info to the OPs question. On our last cruise on Liberty, we ate at Portofinos and Chops. We gave $15 tip at Portofinos and $0 at Chops.

EDIT: hummmm the quoting feature is not working for me today

Why the difference in tip amounts from Portofinos and Chops? Was the service/food that bad at Chops?

  5. Just completed back to back (1/29-2/12) on Freedom OTS and couldn't have been happier. Crew members were so helpful it made us think these were among 2 of our best RCL cruises!

Glad to report "old menus" have now been returned and prime rib and duck are once again available. On the whole food in the MDR was very good to almost excellent. Even the Windjammer food has improved greatly since our prior sailings on Freedom in 11/16.

Always nice to run into staff members and other passengers that you've met on prior RCL cruises.

So glad to read this about the food. RCL has gotten a bad reputation recently for the decline in food quality so maybe they realized that people were unhappy.

  6. Right, I was looking for specific recommendations. I'm sure there are plenty of others...

This tour company has some excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and they seem to do smaller groups. I haven't used them so can't personally vouch for them but I'm planning to reserve them for my upcoming April cruise on Freedom of the Seas.

Oops! Just realized your cruise was already over with! Maybe you could let me know how your tour experience!
