  1. Does anyone know what the sailaway special event is on the terrazzo carnival? We booked a suite for the cruise next week and received an email from Carnival inviting us to attend the special sailaway as well as a special seaday brunch held there. I would like to know if it is worthwhile to attend the sailaway and also what does the curated seaday brunch consist of - thank you!

  2. I think following along has gotten addictive - and enjoying it very much! I also was wondering what the sea day brunch at the Terrazza area was going to be and if it was very crowded. Not sure if we should try having brunch there on our sea day.

Does la Strada Grill have a menu or is it posted on a board, I definitely think that would be good to try when we cruise in late August.

Thank you and keep the posts coming!

  3. Just wanted to thank you for posting, we are booked on the ship in an ocean suite for late August and have enjoyed seeing the videos, especially the carnivale terrazza area where breakfast is served, one question- are there appetizers and cocktails served later in the afternoon? I had read somewhere that they were to have it.

Also, on Deck 5, are there a lot of other shops or just the luxury handbag shop? Am looking for a souvenir as well as an upscale jewelry shop?

Keep the post coming and thank you!

  4. Thank you for the responses - I thought Cuba might be the same as going  to Europe with your passport but after reading the tips on protecting your passport and using copies I thought I'd better check.

  5. We will be arriving in Havana on carnival cruise in a few weeks and I was reading that it is wise to take copies of your passport and leave them in the cabin safe. Is there any problems getting back and forth thru customs with just a photocopy of the passport along with the visa when we arrive at the terminal? Thank you

  6. Thank you for your reply. We do have a specific convertible in mind for our tour - I had not thought to request a particular tour guide because I wasn't sure if those requests are actually honored but I think I will after reading your response.

  7. I was wondering how long in advance to book a tour with Old Cars Havana to be able to get the vintage car we want. We will be on a cruise in March 2019 and I noticed on the Carnival website that their tour in a vintage car was already sold out. Started thinking maybe we just book in the near future. Thank you

  8. Thank you for the info in Carnival - I also am finding that the responses are from other cruise co. cruisers. The port of call forum is giving me a lot of good information on my particular cruise on the Paradise. It seems the easiest and best way is to check both p2p and sftp boxes and do what you want. I will keep checking because I have until next April until we sail and I do like to be prepared.

  9. Have you read anything on the Cuba board link I gave you???

Please go there and read about all the private tours that people are taking right now , today! Once you are off the ship NO one knows which tour company you are using. You can walk around yourself without a tour . You can book a tour yourself too but if you don't read the info from people who have been there/done that you'll still be asking here and not getting good answers.

Yes I went onto the link that you gave me and started reading the tours other people have recently been going on. They certainly show that other cruisers are finding their own tours. I think from now on I'll stick to reading that board instead of getting confusing answers to my questions - thank you

  10. Thanks for all the helpful info - I am thinking of going with OldCarTours but one question I have is how do you know, if as Frangran mentioned, you need an approved other company. Which private companies would that apply to?

  11. Thank you for your response- my husband and I are older senior citizens and we are trying to feel our way through the confusion but do not want to spend 8 hrs on a ship exclusion when the shorter private ones seem so much more appealing. We are only going to stop in Havana from 7am until 5pm and would also like to do shopping at the pier area so the city tour for 2 or 3 hours would be ideal for us. Definitely looking forward to seeing the country.

  12. I also have the same question - we are traveling to Cuba on Carnival next April and would like to do our own private tour (2hrs City Tour in a Vintage Car). I am very confused in reading the regulations and wonder if anyone has recently visited Cuba and done their own tours. Thank You!

  13. Thanks again for all the helpful suggestions. I think that after discussing our plans with my husband we will be taking a cab to Horseshoe Bay Beach, either shared or not, and return to Dockyards to get our shopping done for 1st day. The suggestion of a 5 hr mini-bus tour is exactly what we were looking for and since our ship departs at 2:30 we are going to do the ship excursion so they will be responsible for getting us back on time. If anyone has done the island tour by mini-bus I'd love to get your thoughts on it.

  14. Thank you for your response - I was thinking about taking a cab to Horseshoe Bay Beach and also there is an excursion available on RCL for $33 per person that shuttles you directly to the beach and then taking a cab back but it seems silly to spend that much more for two people. Do you know approximately how much a cab would be, without sharing, back and forth between the Ship and the beach and if they take you right to the beach instead of having to walk down the hill.

  15. Has anyone been to Bermuda and taken a tour which included a stop at Horseshoe Bay Beach. My husband and I are going on RC in early May and would like to do a tour of the island but with limited time available, we get in early afternoon, and want to see everything at the Dockyards the 2nd day I would like to include seeing that beach and particularly pink sand while on a tour. We are seniors and taking bus transportation to just see the beach would not be an option for us. Thank you
