  1. Hello!

Just a quick question, does anyone know if its possible to book solo (200%) and then add an additional guest later on and just paying the extra tax? Or alternatively booking 2 and 1 person canceling, will that tax be refunded?

What would be the best way to proceed with someone who isn't sure about coming?

    Thankyou!

  2. I am excited to hear your review and see pictures! I had hoped to book the itinerary that you are on for 2018 but the dates will not work for us. Right now we are booked on a b2b, 3 nighter followed by a 7 nighter with stops in Penang, Phu My and and overnight in Laem Chabang (Bangkok sort of;)).

Anyway, excited to hear about your trip and seeing your pictures! There is so little information to be found on the Singapore sailings. We are not lucky enough for a suite this trip though we did manage connecting balconies for our family of 5.

You'll love it! The connecting balconies will be very nice. If you need suggestions for Phu My let me know, I've been living in HCMC for 2 years.

Thank you for all the replies! My next post will be about everything onboard the ship in a few days since I won't have my laptop while working.

  3. Welcome Onboard...

This cruise had to be one of the best I've been on and this is why... Prior to this trip I have been on Oasis, Allure, Voyager and Radiance however for the first time we decided to treat ourselves and book the Grand Suite.... I'm sure you can all remember the excitement of walking to your cabin and opening the door for the first time, well this time was no different and I was very impressed with the room and services offered.

We booked cabins 1268 and 1568 after countless hours of trying to find which cabin might be the least likely to be affected by the "deck chair alarm" I'm happy to report that not once for the entire cruise did we hear the deck chairs being moved in the early hours of the morning. Cabins 1268 and 1568 are located under the aft part of the solarium just before the doors into the main swimming pool area so I made a guess that its possibly one of the more quieter locations.

The room itself was very comfortable and ample room for 2 people, plenty of storage, a huge balcony with 2 sun beds and table/chairs. I believe its been around 5 years since the last dry dock but the room was in good condition and after reading about all these bed horror stories, I slept like a baby. Perhaps the beds have not been changed on Mariner as yet since they felt the same as all my previous trips.

The Grand Suite does come with come extra benefits, our favourite was the Concierge Lounge for evening drinks before dinner and having breakfast in Chops.

If you have any specific questions about the rooms, let me know!

Some photos but please excuse the "lived in look" and our formal night "selfie"

  4. S P I C E O F S O U T H E A S T A S I A - 3rd of March 2017, Mariner of the Seas

Some Background... I'm from Australia and currently living and working in Vietnam, joining me on this trip is my girlfriend and parents. It's been 3 years since our last cruise (far too long!) so last minute we decided to book this trip and honestly it was one of the best cruises we've been on. Let me tell you why later, but booking a suite for the first time has something to do with it.

After booking I was full of questions, searching here I found some answers but its nothing like booking a US sailing. So hopefully this thread will help future cruisers out of Singapore.

The Cruise... 7 nights discovering Asia on the "Mariner of the Seas" stopping in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and overnight in Phuket.

I will break up my post into a few parts, so please stay tuned while I find the time to write everything.

I know we all like photos, and don't worry I have plenty. Meanwhile here is a taste ;)

  5. Hello Everyone,

I have an upcoming cruise on Mariner and was curious if you could share your opinions of what would be the best GS to pick on this ship.

Currently we have booked 1268 and 1568, I chose these cabins because they are below the back of the Solarium just before the doors to the main pool and I'm guess that would have the least noise from moving deck chairs etc...

Anyone have some experience in either of these cabins or have some sugestions?

Thank you for your help and wishing you all a Happy New Year :)

  6. I think so also, middle is probably your best choice.

Yep thats correct, so as you leave your cabin at the end of hallway you'll turn left for a few meters then exit to your right into the centrum. The only entrance to MDR for deck 4 is from the opposite side of the ship so everyone heads that way. (That big rectangle in the middle of the floor plan is part of the general staircase)

Actually on 70's night when they had the party in the Centrum, I had to go back to my room to drop off something, I didn't hear the party once inside.

Have a great trip once it comes around.

  7. Arh the middle studio? I saw the furthest end one but it did look very nice (sorry no pics). If the price is right go for it.

The hallway cuts down the noise quite a lot as you need to turn left walk then turn right into the hallway from the Centrum, not directly connected. But once I was in my room and closed the door absolutely zero noise. I would not hesitate to book here again and actually since there are less people in the hallway its even better :)

In the beginning when I booked I was also thinking the same... Noise... But proved me wrong and we were all very happy, its also great if you forget something to run back quickly ;)

Here is a photo of my room (4584) for reference.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions.

  8. I had one of those ocean view cabins (4584) in the same hallway as the Studio Single rooms on Radiance. Noise was no issue what so ever but the location was amazing! 10 seconds to the centrum.

I did see inside the studio interior room and the bathroom was bigger then my cabin, so thats a plus ;)

    Hope that helped

  9. I'm in room 4584 on Radiance this Monday, I only read good reviews about these cabins and said no noise... Extra large windows compared to the other ocean view cabins too. I didn't hesitate to book one.

    You'll love it I'm sure

  10. I'm also in Australia, Bonine worked the best for me but the downside for us is that we cant buy it here.

Anyway if you have time its easy to order online from America and ship it to your house before your next cruise.

If you need more help let me know

    Aaron
