  1. We are sailing on the Royal from 11/14-11/24/14. Does anyone know of any way to find out the names of the shows that we will be seeing or the names of any of the other entertainers like comediens, piano guy, etc?

We have been on several Princess cruises & are anxious to find out if we will be seeing any new shows?

    Thanks for any info!

    call Princess entertainment dept...... 661-753-2403

  2. A quick question. Consider and aft area cabin on deck 14 of CARIBBEAN PRINCESS. Does anyone know for sure if there are doors that lead out from the aft cabin area to the aft pool. Looks like there is. If so, does anyone have any experiences back there? Thinking an inside cabin back there won't be bad if I can get right out to the deck. Hope that all makes sense. Any help appreciated.

we book an inside in that area any time we can............have 737 for our upcoming trip, is a bit noisy at times with the door closing but doesn't bother us..............love the easy access to the pool and the café and horizon court...........

  3. We take a 9:30 flight each time we are in Ft Lauderdale.

Do the self disembarkation carrying off your luggage in the first group.

Midway through the cruise you can sign up for it at the passenger services desk.

    Get a cab!

First group is off by 700 to 7:30, at the airport by 7:45 or earlier.

    Have a backup plan.

    We do the same~

  4. He exists!

Tell him the folks on Viking Odyssey in July on Nautica will give him a BIG welcome!

Bob Drewes is new to the CD position but not to cruise ships..............we met him some years ago on the SS Norway, he was then head of Sports Afloat............super personality and very talented young man.......I think all that get to experience his beginnings as CD are very lucky....and he is being trained by an old friend from the Norway........Dottie Kalwaski.......I am a bit envious

  5. Hi everyone. My wife and I have only been on 4 cruises and have our 5th already booked. When she asked me to go on our first cruise I sure didn't think I would love it as much as I do! We love to dance, especially cha-cha's. Have any of you heard the wonderful band Tempo Quattro? We love them and would like to get in touch with them to find where they are and on which ship. Does anyone have contact info for them, ie, an email address?? Thanks

they are on facebook.......Tempo Quattro Band.......I keep in touch with Monica there, they are on vacation now, not sure where next

  6. Day 4—Curacao

We weren’t scheduled to dock in Curacao until 2pm, so I got up early and wanted to go lay by the pool for a bit. I went down to the International Café grabbed a coffee and croissant and headed to the Aft Pool (Terrace Pool). This pool area is for adults only and doesn’t have entertainment, so it is a nice quiet area to enjoy reading a book or just staring out to sea. I got down there about 8am, so there was plenty of chairs to choose from, but they were pretty full by 1030am.

After a nice morning looking at the wake and reading I met up with my husband, grabbed some pizza from the poolside pizza place and headed to the room to get cleaned up for Curacao. The shipped got docked early so we were off to explore by about 145. We didn’t make any plans for Curacao we were just going to walk around, enjoy the colorful buildings, shops, and floating bridge. We ended up grabbing some late lunch at a waterside café (Iguana Café). The service was extremely slow, but the food was worth it…very yummy. We did access the WIFI that was available around town and checked in with family and friends via email and social media. On our walk back I decided we needed to find Starbucks (which is in the mall just after you exit the port area). Grabbed my souvenir mug which I must get whenever I can to add to my collection. Also got a “real” coffee for me, and some frozen drinks for my boys. We were back on the ship relatively early due to not being interested in the nightlife, and our son wanting to hang with his friends (guess we aren’t as cool as we thought). I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Curacao, and the fact that the shop keepers were not pushy and prices were very reasonable. We definitely will keep this island on our list to come back to.

Once back on the ship I took some pictures while everything wasn’t too busy, checked out a movie (can’t remember the name), and then decided we didn’t want dinner in the dining room so we just ate on our own. I found the buffet that night pretty good (It was Italian night). After dinner we did our trip to the casino, where we actually won our money back, and then quit while we were ahead. Since we had time we went to see the variety show in the theater (a singer) who was very good then off to Explorers lounge to see the magician/comedian James Michael. We saw mixed reviews about the magician, we LOVED him…he is a bit on the raunchy side, but we found his humor hysterical. I will say we did see some people leave because they were offended. After a long night of entertainment off to bed to get ready for Christmas Day & Aruba.

  7. Does anyone know what ship the Phoenix Rising band is currently on? Just wondering since we were on the Golden back in July and they were playing on that ship. Nice music to dance to.

    Gypsy lady

We sailed with them on the Star to Hawaii on the 15 day out of LA Nov5-20..............they left the ship at the end of last cruise and will be home for a couple of months and then be on the panama cruise .........can't remember if it is the Island or Coral but will find out and post..........

  8. Hi All

A story about Tony for you, one formal night while in the atrium which was packed, waiting on the Captains speach, Tony spotted to me and came over and started chatting, he is not a big bloke and was wearing a white diner jacket, now he was being pushed about a bit as folks tried to get a better view, the lady next to be was quite large and while not rude was not polite to him as he tried to get over to chat, he then went to go and do his speach, as soon as he started the lady next to me spotted that he was the person she had been pushing and complaing about, to say she went a bit red would be an understand.

Tony is to polite and very much the gentleman to say anything to a passenger.

He is a true gentleman and a super nice guy....

  9. Hi - I've just booked a cruise on MSC Divina but now I'm a bit worried about what the entertainment will be like. I'm used to cruises with popular music that we all know and love and can sing along to, something a bit up-beat. I'm worried that this is all going to be a bit too classical/jazz/easy listening and that I'll get bored. Can't find much information on the style of music on the internet. Just looking for a bit of reassurance. Many thanks.

We have sailed on the Poesia with a duo that is on the Divina........don't know when u are sailing or if they will still be there but they are fantastic and play/sing everything from Johnny Cash and the Beatles to Avita and all are wonderful.............they are "Ameritalian," Sonia and Greg...............guarantee if they are on board u will love them..............if so, tell them Barbara and Kelvin sent u ;*)

  10. Hi There

Captain Marco Fortezze last I saw he was on Caribbean Princess but that was over a year ago,

need some up to date info please,

he is still shown as a Princess captain.

    yours Shogun

we sailed with him a couple of times in 2010, i know once was on the Emerald, maybe both were......super nice guy

  11. Well after reading several reviews posted in this format, a couple of them used large print as it's easy for some of us more mature cruisers to read :o:p:D. I decided to post my review here instead of the member reviews because I can stop and go as I please, and in the other format you have to do it in one shot and you can't post or answer questions others may have. The larger font really is easier to read, perhaps 4 is a compromise?

however u choose is fine........readers can change the font size on their computers......

  12. Hi;

I understand that David Cole is the cruise director, and a very good one at that, especially for the Hawiian Cruise, but who is Elua?

All post threads about Hawaii and the Golden Princess always refer to David and Elua. Who is Elua and what role does this/these person(s) play?

We are getting excited about our March Cruise and we know that David Cole will be on board for that cruise so we are happy. Now if I could just figure out the rest.

    Looking forward to you input.

    As always, thanks in advance.

Elua is a wonderful duo...........one of our very favorite couples, we have enjoyed many hours with them when they played in the Wheelhouse on other Princess ships............they now do the hawaii run (which we don't) and as well as playing on deck do the hawaii cultural things, lei making, uke lessons etc.............they are full of Aloha

  13. It becomes unavailable 5 days prior to your cruise, but there is still a link to print out boarding pass, luggage tags, etc. Whether those are kept updated or not with last-minute info (like your cabin #), I don't know.

Yes they are updated.....our last cruise we received an upgrade after the 5 day cut off.....i printed new luggage tags and boarding pass at that time and they had the correct room on them.

  14. Is there a way to get this info? I would love to see the band Phoenix Rising again. The lead singer had mentioned when I was on the Crown I might be able to get info from Princess. Anyone know if that is true?

Phoenix Rising is now on 6 week vacation starting Jan. 30 and then will join the Diamond for the asia run..........and then alaska, not sure which ship in alaska but i think the Diamond.

  15. There are many posts that include the entertainment issue. I think it is a crapshoot right now. On our first cruise - the Grand, the band in Wheelhouse was Phoenix Rising and we thought they were great. Have not run into them since and hoping they will be on the Ruby in April:)

We also had a sailaway group on the Grand a couple of years later, forget their name, and they were fantastic. I believe the lead singer was a woman. I mentioned this to the CD when I ran into him and said they sould be in one of the lounges. He did not take my advice very well. Actually made me feel like I knew nothing about entertainment.:( People were wondering what happened to them after Sailaway. Oh well.

    So a crapshoot it is.

Phoenix Rising leave the Crown Jan. 30 and after their time off are suppose to join the Diamond
