  1. DW and I really enjoy walking the beach looking for shells. We would also like to find some sea glass. Can somebody give me some ideas of what else to do with golf cart, or if we would even need one? Would there be somewhere we could go for some snorkeling? I am thinking maybe Jacks for lunch?

  2.

Both will be very crowded as ships use both places for excursions. The two days this week that there were 4 ships in port you couldn't walk on the public portion of Sapphire one day and the second day when we went to Coki it was just as bad.

This is what is concerning me! Maybe we should do something besides beach day here, we are only ship in port at St. Martin. Is the snorkeling good there?

  3. After reading my favorite excursion reviewer on the site (Mitsugirily)I believe I want to visit one of the 2. We love to snorkel and by the pics I have seen Coki is awesome! I am wondering which of the 2 is going to have better facilities so far as food and drink, rest rooms etc. which would give the better experience?

  4. LOL, I gotta quit researching! I went to Friendly Norwegian Cruisers on facebook and see these most recent comments on the spirit!

3:06pm Jan 1 Sailed on the Spirit 3 weeks ago, kinda disappointed in service as well as food. Very odd for our 7th NCL cruise.

3:12pm Jan 1 We also had issues beginning of December, we had heard it was a whole new crew. Still had a great time, looked past the issues & book another. We've never had a bad cruise.

3:31pm Jan 1 I finally met our cabin steward 3 days in. Within 24 hours of leaving Florida, we were given an extra 3 boxes of tissues because the ship was out of toilet paper. Great to rely on Mexico for TP. The food all had the consistency of bread. The ice cream was awful, mostly liquid, which doesn't work on a cone. We love the line. This was so off for them. I felt bad for first time cruisers.

6:46pm Jan 1 Oh man your scaring me! I am ready to book the Spirit kind of last min for 2/27 with a couple new cruisers

7:06pm Jan 1 We were with another couple, it was their 1st NCL cruise, we just looked past the issues, still had a wonderful time. First night waves real bad, a lot of folks were seasick. Most were troopers & pushed through. We luv NCL line & crew

Now I am back to square 1 not knowing what to do!

  5. After a little more researching I have found that so far as reviews go, even with the Breeze being so much newer, the reviews on it are really no better then they are for the spirit.

I am leaning more to the spirit the more I look into things. Food quality which is important to them is not ranked very good for either ship, however I read the same thing about the dawn before going on her and I had zero complaints on the food. Another thing is that my cousin says her DH does not handle waiting in lines real well. that tells me that the smaller more intimate spirit would be a better choice then the Breeze?

The thing that really wants me to stay with NCL is freestyle dinning. I can't imagine being tied into a set dinning time, I dont think we ate at the same time anytime through both cruises! I also am not a fan of wearing a suit jacket to go to dinner....just me.

  6. My DW and I are not all that experienced with only 2 cruises. We are however hooked. We have been on the Dawn and the Epic. We liked the dawn much better and feel we do much better on a smaller ship. My cousin and DH have never been on a cruise and are thinking of going with us this year. I am considering the Spirit for a eastern Caribbean on 2/27.

She has been reading reviews on the spirit and has raised concerns. I realize you have to take reviews with a grain of salt, but in all honesty, with the amount of negative reviews I am having a hard time defending the idea of going on the spirit.

Will new cruisers be disappointed in the older ship? I have never been Carnival, but for close to the same money we could do the Breeze and I am seriously considering it.

    Comments?

  7. Well......at the risk of getting beat up, we are going to try flying in the day of. The first 2 we flew in a day early and did not like the waiting around for the next day for the cruise. I know its a gamble of sorts, but we would be arriving at 9:45 am, and have 3 more flights that arrive before 1PM out of Pittsburgh should something go wrong. It makes it so much easier so far as work schedule to do it this way also. Am I crazy?

  8. I am thinking of going on my 3rd cruise. This forum has educated me through my first 2 and now I am looking for more guidance. We have cruised out of Tampa (like it) and Miami (hated it). This time the cruise I am interested in goes out of Port Canaveral. In researching flights with southwest it is telling me Orlando, Fl. MCO???? Is that the airport I want? How far away is it? Are there reliable shuttle services from airport to port? Please tell me anything I would need to know about sailing out of here. I thank all in advance for any help they can offer.:) Is Orlando MCO Orlando International???

  9. I have never heard of Papitos? Hmmm, something I'll have to check in to.

Bixll, you know I have been to all of the others...you're welcome to look over my review on them and the pictures. It might help you decide. I personally think Chankanaab sounds like what you are looking for. There's so much there to do and it's so beautiful. It's a great snorkeling spot of course and also has a pool. :)

I was hoping to hear from you. I have read all your reviews but could not tell which you though was better.
  10. Have been reading through posts and reviews for days and still can't make up my mind. Our group will consist of 4 adults in their 50s, no kids. A few of us like to snorkel, the others like the beach and pool as well as drinks and food. Help me decide, what would you recommend?

    Papitos Secluded Beach

    Chankanaab

    Mr. Sanchos

    Nachi Cocom

  11. My wife is having a total knee replacement done 11/21. We will be in Ocho Rios 1/21 on the NCL Epic.

We really do not know what to expect so far as how far along she will be after the surgery. Anybody that has gone through this offer advice as to what to do while in port? Would she be able to do Dunns River Falls, or should we look for something else.

Input and suggestions would really be appreciated.
