  1. ... I made 2 bids, one for mini, one for balcony. one says 'modify' or 'cancel'. the second offer still has the green button that says 'pending' and nothing else...

Have you tried to click the upgrade type?

Short version: don't click the pending button, instead click the bold blue letters.

    Long version:

Suppose the one with pending button is 'balcony'. Then click the 'balcony'. Because you have more than 1 bid, they only show you one at the time with 'modify' or 'cancel'. Once you click the balcony one, the other one (mini) will appear with green button pending.

    see the example.

by clicking 'Owner's Suite with Large Balcony (SB)', you will get the offer details of this upgrade at the top of the page and modify or cancel buttons will appear. The one at the top before the clicking, will move down and have same information as below with green pending button on it.

note: offer amount just an 'example' clear.png?emoji-grin-1677 unfortunately the lowest offer is not that low.

  2. Need help. We have to bring along a scooter for my husband. The city scape busses that we booked said there is a free shuttle from the ship to where we pick up buses. Does anyone know how we can find out if they can accomodate an electric breakdown scooter

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Hi picesfl,

I don't have experience using any of the buses, so I only can advise you to contact the cruise line.

What I understand: different cruise line have contract with different bus company for the shuttle.

Most of the time the buses I have seen were like these: Barton buses. The pictures were from 2014 but I saw one today (Oriana - P&O was at the dock). You can see that the double deckers have disabled sign on if they allowed one to enter.

and the coach bus have lower storage compartment to store the electric breakdown scooter.

but I am not sure if they are the ones you will use, better contact the cruise line. :)

One of the choices is you can use taxi to go from the port to city center. It's about €10-15 one way.

I found this guide for your information; dated 2013 but it's still valid.

  3. Do US residents and Canadian residents require a visa prior to arrival in Indonesia?

    Hi Welland,

I haven't visited Indonesia by a cruiseship. Maybe someday.

but I know for sure US & Canadian citizens/nationalities need visa, which is Visa on Arrival. Cost USD 25 pp for single entry up to 30 days stay.

refer to: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Indonesia

I wonder about what you meant by 'residents' here. Are you also the citizen of the country? = US/Canadian passport holders/nationalities?

The reason I am asking, because there are 12 countries (12 Nationalities) who don't need VOA to visit Indonesia - up to 30 days - single entry. see the list of these countries on the link above.

If someone is the citizen of one of these 12 countries but US/Canadian residents, then he or she doesn't need VOA. free visa.

maybe that's the 'yes and no' things. :D

    who knows.

During our sailing on HAL they supplied our visa for Indonesia. The cost of US$ 50,- p.p. was charged on our board account.

    Wow. 2 times the price.

    I wonder why. hmm...

  4. Looking for something about 3-4 hours long and is relaxing. We are considering renting a car but not sure we want to go that route.

    Hi JoJoVirgo,

I can't give you more information of what to do other than what it is around the port. Really, just around the port. :p

But, who knows, maybe it can give you some ideas.

Kona is a tendered port. you can count it on your 3-4 hours timing.

This pic, I took when we were there last September.

We sat on one of the restaurants. I don't remember the name... o boy. We got discount as cruise passengers.

    1. The (Carnival) Miracle :D

    2. Tender

    3. Area where the excursions buses and shuttles park. ehm, the building next to #3 is a restroom :o

    4. you can find taxis here

    5. This is where we did our excursion. in front of King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel.

    - I think the beach is open for public. With the excursion we get chair, umbrella & snorkel gear for the duration of 9am-3pm plus the Historical Hawaii Outrigger Tour for 1 hour. Kona boys take care this excursion.

Just to add, maybe someone else need it: if you just want to rent something (chair, umbrella, snorkel gear, etc) at this location, you can check out this website.

    - ABC store is located around the corner #5, part of the hotel.

    6. Kona Square

and Kona Inn is at the direction of where the white truck came from. click here.

Happy Annyversary & enjoy your visit. ;)

  5. Elsa, Ellen and Everyone who contributed to this thread,

Thank you for all the great information!!!:)

    you're welcome, Kathy.

a little note, found here dd 09/17/12, I copy paste last part:

"...This bus also stops at the Warf, where the Aquarium is located. I'm glad we did this; we had a nice leisure day in Lahaina! Once we got back to the mall however, the line was ridiculous for the shuttle, so we opted to walk back to the pier, which was a nice 4-5 block walk."

    fyi :)

Does anyone know how early the free shuttle to the shopping center to catch the bus runs?

    Hi,

I don't know how early it is.

But with the info above: that the walking only 4-5 blocks away, maybe can be one of your options to catch the early bus.

(the route from Port to Queen Ka'ahumanu Center).

    Enjoy your visit.

  6. I am wondering if it would be possible/ recommended to take bus from port in Kahului to a luau over on other side of Maui and back? As we are docked overnight in Maui, I'm not worried about how late we return, just want to get back to the ship.

    Hi,

You can take bus from port in Kahului to Lahaina.

To go back... I am not sure.

I don't know which luau you will go to. It depends on what time the luau will be finished and how far the location from wharf cinema center, plus you have to know what time is the latest shuttle from Queen Ka'ahumanu to the port.

Last month we docked in Kahului 7am - 11pm. And we went to Old Lahaina Luau (OLL). We took bus to go to Lahaina and we shared taxi to go back to the port.

OLL finished around 8.45 pm. We could get out before it finished, but we didn't want to.

The last bus #20 from Lahaina is 8.30 pm. To take this bus, we need to take shuttle from OLL to Wharf Cinema Center plus later in Kahului, we still need transport from Queen Ka'ahumanu to the port. Means it's already too late to take the bus anyway.

So, we shared a taxi with 4 others from roll call to go back to port. The taxi cost was $75 for 6 people one way. We arrived at the port around 10 pm.

  7. Hi Kathy & Co, :)

Just so I'm clear, the free shuttle to Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is in walking distance? Or do you pick up the free shuttle at the port?

It's free shuttle at the port.

Also, does the bus run pretty frequently back to the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center to catch shuttle back to ship?

Looking at the schedule, read vertically: the bus run every hour.

Do you or anyone else know if the free shuttle is sponsored by the ship or the island and if it stops running after a certain time? Not worried about missing the ship as I would be going the first of the two days in port.

I guess it is from the island.

Sorry, I didn't ask the driver what time the latest shuttle from Queen Ka'ahumanu Center would be. We went back from Lahaina after OLL with taxi (shared with 4 others from roll call).

Just say... example.. (maybe or maybe not the correct one!).. I am guessing it will be 4 pm as the latest shuttle from Queen Ka'ahumanu Center to Port; then you have to catch 2.30 pm bus from Wharf Cinema Center. This one will arrive at 3.30 pm at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center.

  8. I just need to know where to find the bus once I get off the ship? Is it in walking distance? I found an old thread from 2008 that said you could get the free shuttle to Hilo Hatties and then take the bus ($2 each way) from there. Can anyone verify this? Any help is appreciated... Thanks.

Note: I have been to Hawaii before, so I just want to go to Lahaina again and look in quaint shops, buy Hawaiian Cookie Company souvenirs and just take my time.

    Hi,

We took a bus from Kahului to Lahaina for OLL last month.

At the port we took free shuttle to Queen Ka'ahumanu Center. 7-10 minutes drive. It is a walking distance. I checked google and it shows this route. 20-25 mins. I put 'Hobron Ave' as the point of departure. It's a guessing. :D I didn't check the name of the street when we were there. CMIIW please. thanks.

I don't know about free shuttle to Hilo Hatties or if this is the same one I took. Maybe someone can help on this.

From Queen Ka'ahumanu Center we took Lahaina Islander bus #20 - $2 pp each way - to Wharf Cinema Center in Lahaina.

When you arrive at Queen Ka'ahumana Center, just walk to the back. The waiting area for busses is at your right side. It's not a big shopping center, you'll find it quick. :)

bus schedule - pdf file: http://www.mauicounty.gov/DocumentView.asp?DID=4353

and when you arrive at Wharf Cinema Center in Lahaina, walk to the back and you'll find Front Street with all the shops.

    enjoy your visit. :)

  9. Flying aer lingus to London in 10 days! Do we want to upgrade the dinner or is it satisfactory ?

    Hi,

Never fly longhaul to LON with aer lingus before. and don't know what kind of food you like to eat. but hope this can give you an idea.:)

I don't have experience with upgrade dinner.

But on our way back last week from ORD (Chicago O'hare) to DUB (Dublin), a couple in front of us ordered this.

What I noticed with upgrade dinner:

    - you'll get your food first before others (at economy class of course).

    - if you like wine, it is included http://www.aerlingus.com/inflight-experience/inflight-dining/longhaul-economy/sky-dine/

    - and you don't hv to worry if the choice you want will be finished before your turn of getting your dinner.

(example: without upgrade, menu choices are chicken or pasta. usually chicken finish quick enough. and you like chicken. bummer.. on your turn get your dinner, they only hv pasta.)

    - other than those 3 above, i think the portion just a... little bit more. well, the tray is bigger because they're using plates, bowl, spoon etc i/o plastics..

This is our first time using aer lingus to and from USA.

We admit, the portion of the meal is less than what we used to get when we fly with other airline.

Back to your question: is it satisfactory?

    For us: Nope. :D

Lucky, we ate at the airport before boarding.

  10. I'll have to look for their FB page. Do they have anyone saying good things about them?

From their fb, 2 people mentioned it. At least, they sound happy. :)

Can't find any other reviews online.

They try to open an account on Tripadvisor though (read their tweet to tripadvisor). Maybe then we can read more reviews.

This website mentioned them as an alternative:

    http://www.amsterdamtips.com/getting-to-amsterdam-from-schiphol-airport.php

  11. Yeah.. too bad they didn't respond to my email!

Perhaps someone else wants to try getting a quote and see if you get the same results, or maybe call if you're in the Netherlands? Here's their website again.

    https://tinker.travel/

    Thanks..

    Hi,

I tried getting a quote. But since I don't have a flight number, it doesn't really help. What I learned from their facebook page, you'll get as cheap as you can if you book long before the actual date. Maybe that's the reason you get so cheap € 22.20. WOW!!

Thank you for sharing the link by the way. It's a great deal. :)

We ever lived just 10 km from Schiphol Airport (12 minutes drive). When we needed taxi, we paid between €25-30 one way.

Compare the distance from Piet Heinkade Amsterdam to Schiphol which is around 30 km, even without Tinker travel service, such as mentioned above: from schiphol site or €50-80 as Ine mentioned, all price still a good deal.

    haha.. it's a dummy way of assuming by calculating 3 (times 10 km) x € 25-30 = € 75-90 :D

Hope you can get in touch with Tinker and have a great deal.

  12. I did not realize that the HOHO stopped at the port. Was it the red or green HOHO? Is there more than one port that cruise ships dock at? We will be on Princess -- not sure where they dock.

Maybe what Cupkayke meant was Dublin Bus. Not a HOHO. :p

The Port is one -> Dublin Port but the terminal is more than one, as Thoie explained above.

As you'll be on Princess, (is it for June 14th?), I see from Dublin Port website she'll be docked at Burke Shipphing Group terminal. Last time I tried to walk (yeah right ) from Burke Shipping Group, it took 10 minutes from the gate of the terminal to Luas (tram) red line at The Point stop. With Luas, to go to city centre area, you can get off either at Abbey Street stop or Jervis stop.

    * Burke Shipping Group: is one of the terminals which cruise dock.

    * The gate of the terminal: where there is a checkpoint for Burke Shipping Group company. It's a restricted area, and only passengers can pass the gate in and out. well, also the ones who work there of course.

I went there with Dublin Bus no 53 from city centre. It was easy to get off coz there is a stop sign in front of the area (across the street of Burke Shipping) but I don't see a stop sign to wait for the bus which will bring you to city centre.

  13. Previous posts seem to recommend sharing a taxi. But we don't want to be wasting the precious little time we have in Dublin queuing for a taxi. We are fit and used to walking, is that practical? How far is it to walk before you get to interesting places to view? I saw somewhere that there is a bus stop 'just around the corner'. Can anyone give me any more details about this (eg number of bus route)? Any advice that you can give will be appreciated. Thanks

I never been in Dublin Port by walking. But yes, it's just an industrial area if I see via Google Map (satelite mode). Which if you don't mind to see it, then it's not much. I don't know if you can (allow to) walk from the port to the gate. I assume, you can. But need others to advice this.

If you can and manage to walk from dublin port gate (outside Dublin Port) to O'Connell Bridge (city centre), there are some better view to see.

    Let me explain.

#1. Is a map of route bus no 53. The one that you mention with 'just around the corner.' Click this link, and zoom in to Dublin Port area: Route Bus 53 from Dublin Ferry Port to Talbot Street.

    compare to

#2. click this link and you'll see how long does it take: Google Map walking distance from Dublin Port to O'Connell Bridge

I think the shuttle and taxi will use the same route, only they will turn left on the Talbot Memorial Bridge.

if you take #1, you won't see what on the North Wall Quay and Custom House Quay along the River Liffey such as:

    1. Simon Beckett Bridge

    2. Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship

    3. The Famine Memorial

    4. Custom House

    5. and then arrive at O'Connell Bridge. you can go further to Trinity College, Dublin Castle, or Temple Bar.

If you take shuttle and taxi or later with one of the HoHo bus, you will see them too.

If you used to walk, I suggest you to walk.

And if you used to walk in the rain, then it won't be a problem either.

(haha.. raining loves Dublin so much).

  14. Hi Dermot,

I hope you don't mind, I jump into the discussion here. :)

I do get a lot of information from your posts. Thank you for giving your time sharing with us.

I am living in Dublin too, but we are new comers from europe mainland. :p

    so..

    Below,

I just try to give an idea where is what. Eeven the map scale isn't the real one, at least you can estimate of how far from each other locations.

I can't find better map other than this one. Please click below image to get more details on the map. To follow the information of stops, please click this link: Love Ireland

    521918f2a7.jpg

The Dublin Port itself is close to Upper Sherif Street or National Convention Centre. (the right side on the map).

cruisingforsix: yesterday we took a Full Day Tour to Glendalough, Kilkenny & Wicklow Gap with Collins, it started 9.00 am got pick up outside Trinity College and ended around 17.00 pm, stepped out the bus not far from Trinity College too. The tour guide was great, Glendalough and Wicklow are amazing. It costs 30 eur pp and you can book online.

cknic: From the map, Trinity College is stop 2 and Kilmainham Gaol is stop 16.

    Hope this help somehow.

    :)

    Elsa
