  1. You would think so, but that's not exactly true. My daughter, who is a hairstylist, cut my hair in an aft balcony once. We got some hair on a towel and decided to just shake it off the back of the ship thinking it would just blow away. Instead, it blew back towards the ship and stuck to everyone's glass balcony dividers. So your smoke is likely to do the same. Your neighbours are going to love you about as much as ours loved us.

It was a great cruise and smoking was a non issue on our aft balcony. My neighbor on the left was also a smoker, and the neighbor on my right was never seen. My neighbor and I even had a cigar night out on the balcony. Some people on this site are making way too big a deal with the cigarette complaints. Oh, and we had no complaints.

  2. Hopefully- you are all comfortable and you can enjoy the final days of your vacation. I am on the Breakaway Sunday and my travel agent thinks they may delay our cruise for a day or two. She has no confirmed knowledge of this but she has seen it happen before. Honestly- I hope so- I do fully understand what can happen this time of year on any cruise . That being said I am not good with rocky seas so I have purchased every seasickness remedy known to man :) Anyhow- current Breakaway passengers stay safe and please keep us posted on how your journey progresses.

I don't see the logic behind staying in port for a day or two. The strength of the storm is a day or two to the south. So by staying in port you are just waiting for the weather to get worse? I don't understand that reasoning. The Breakaway just needs to get out of port on time and haul butt, not sit around and wait for it to get worse. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  3. We will be on the BA in October. I have a cabin in the aft and plan on smoking out on my balcony when the ship is in motion. My smoke will go behind the ship, just like the smoke coming out of the ships smokestack. I always put cigarette out in a glass of water, so no chance of fire. Deal with it people !!!

  4. You and your smokeless ashtray have caused "no problems" for you, so you simply ASSume that they've been no problems to anyone else so you can continue to ignore the rules & be an inconsiderate {fill in the blank}.

Glad to see we are finally on the same page. My smokeless ashtray is a considerate item to bring. Yes, their are plenty of rules on board. And a lot of them get twisted, bent and/or broken. But I feel no need to be the ships police. I've seen booze smugglers, dirty diapers in the pool, shorts in the dining room at dinner....I can go on and on. But why should I get bented out of shape if I see rule breakers. I continue on my way and enjoy my vacation without being a whiney yenta. Try it.

  5. If smoking is so danergous on cruise ships, why haven't they banned it ship wide? You can smoke in the casino and various other places around the ship. If customer safety is the primary goal I wonder why they still allow smoking on board? Don't flick your butt over the side. I put mine out in a glass of water.

  6. And how do you know you aren't bothering anyone? Just because they haven't resorted to reporting you?gloob

I am stipulating in my hypothetical that no one is being bothered. So if no one is being bothered, than it should be no concern of yours or anyone elses. My smokeless ashtray and I have done 2 cruises with no problems.

  7. How would you feel if you told me please don't eat peanuts out on my deck because I have a severe allergy to nuts and I continued to eat them and you almost died? I would stop eating my peanuts and apologize because I know you could almost die. The same goes for smoking I would hope you would be kind and follow the rules.

If you're peanut allergy is that severe, then you should not board a cruise ship. What if you get into an elevator and someone is eating a bag of peanuts? Or if you board a tender and someone is munching on a bag of nuts. Sorry, it's nobody responsibility to cater to you're allergy issues other than you.

  8. Not sure about the terminology you are using.

There are Savings Certificates that can be viewed if you are a Crown & Anchor member (have sailed with Royal before) and log into the website. These come out every quarter and apply to selected cruises.

There are Future Cruise Certificates that are usually issued because of some sort of problem on a cruise, and give you money off a future cruise.

Yes, maybe I am using the wrong terminology. I thought you were able to buy some kind of savings certificate from the future cruise consultant to be used at a later date? Have I had too many drinks last night :)

  9. The lawyer at "cruise law news" over on FB is as usual blaming the cruise line. He generally sensationalizes things with a pack of lies. He always says there is no CCTV (among other things) when there is one on Rhapsody.

I was told by a friend on board that he went over on port side, deck 5. No details as to why. But news reports that he went over at 2am and the body was recovered at 9am are correct.

Hopefully something will be revealed after viewing the video. It's really hard, but not impossible to accidentally fall of a cruise ship. But highly unlikely unless you were intoxicated and doing something stupid. So either the person decided to end his/her life, or someone decided to end it for them. Either way, it's a sad ending.
