  1. The price varies I think depending on number of nights. There was three of us and it was approx. £300 for a couple and approx £200 for one person. You get a very comfy sun bed which is yours for the day ( no-one removing your towels and belongings if you leave it) If it gets too hot there are plenty of other beds or chairs in the shade. They provide nice healthy lunches up there just let the steward know what time you wish to eat and he'll let you know when it's ready.

we've been doing it for a few years and at first the thermal suite was included in the price, but not any more. Also the Oasis pool was solely for the use of retreat guests but any adult can use it. After saying that we still find it very relaxing and are willing to pay the extra for it.

  2. Came back from cruise on Azura a week ago.On the first day we booked 3 places in the retreat for the whole cruise and that cost just under £500. After a couple of days they dropped the price to less than half that.:mad:After a number of us complained they refunded the original cost and charged us the lower price. The Retreat manager said the ad in the horizon was wrongly worded and that the lower price was for the rest of the cruise ( I still think that dropping the price by half after 2or 3 days was a bit naughty) There was no quibble about refunding money but I did hear that some people were offered a "gift" instead. I'd advise you to wait a couple of days for a special offer, that's what we'll do in future. After saying all that I still think it's worth paying extra for, its much more relaxing in there.:)

  3. It is not always the passengers fault. It is just as easy for the staff to bring it on board, or carry it over from a previously infected cruise.

I agree it is prevalent elsewhere. I understand it is the second most common infection in the UK, after the common cold.

Funnily enough ( or not :() the assistant waiter was absent a night or so before and head waiter said he was ill. What was wrong with him I don't know.

A few years ago my husband and I went down with the virus at Christmas. We'd booked Christmas Day lunch out but could not go, so do know it can happen anywhere.

  4. We were on the last azura cruise before the transatlantic when the outbreak of NV started. My wife was laid up for a couple of days so we missed cadiz[emoji20]. Anyway out of the blue we got a pleasant surprise this morning from p&o giving my wife £93 future cruise credit or £70 cash as my wife was ill and she had adhered to the cleanliness and safety procedures and informed the ship doctor of her illness while on board.

You were lucky then! Last year on our 24 nighters to the Black Sea I succumbed to norovirus on about 20th day and was confined to our cabin for a couple of days. I reported it to medical centre and our cabin was deep cleaned. My poor hubby came down with it on the last day. We were kept on ship and were last off. Poor husband then had 2 1/2 hr drive home. No future cruise credit for us :(

I do fume when I see people not washing hands after using loos and not using hand gel in buffet. I think that it should be enforced before entering restaurants.

  5. I'll let you know what happens (or doesn't happen) to us lol....

I am so excited as we have never been in a mini suite before!

Lucky you!! Mini suites on Oceana are really spacious. After having one on Oceana we booked one on Arcadia , we were disappointed as it was nowhere near as good.

    Have a great cruise.:)

  6. P&O has now confirmed in a statement by CE the new arrangements for boarding to be implemented with immediate effect.

Everyone will be allocated a boarding time. When Caribbean+ turn up at their time, they will be allowed to skip the queue and go straight to check-in then through security which apparently has been improved. Once onboard, canapés will be available from 1:30 - 3:30 in a welcome lounge.

I reached Caribbean level a few cruises ago and have yet to avail myself of drinks and canapés, despite arriving at " welcome" ?? lounge before 2 o'clock I've been told " you're too late we're closed". I did say I would give p & 0 a miss for a little while as I've not been happy with the way loyalty is rewarded but had such an excellent cruise last month that I booked another while on board. I have however booked my main cruise for next year with Cunard. It will be interesting to compare companies.

  7. I remember watching one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films in the theatre on Oceana in fairly choppy seas once and it really made you feel you were on one of the old

    Michele

My mum worried the whole 21 days we were on our Caribbean cruise that the Pirates would get us. :)

  8. If the Select price has changed that much, it's worth asking about. I complained that the Select Price for our cruise had dropped by £500 pp. we were upgraded :-)

I have been watching our cruise with a great deal of interest. At the moment, the Select prices are back to around what we paid, but the saver fare changes on a daily basis. Yesterday, Balconies were sold out, today they are on sale again. It goes in two weeks!! It's a 21 day cruise and I think they are having great difficulty filling it.

When I contacted P&o to complain about our cruises earlier this year ( they'd dropped by hundreds too) we were told to like it or lump it, in a convulated way. No upgrade for us.:(

Going again in a couple of weeks and that cruise has risen by £700 for a lower grade cabin ! Still feel lucky to have such lovely holidays :)

  9. The answer is very clear and one which I have thought about for some time. Stop the auto tip, tell people tipping is not needed now. And put the cost of the cruise up. Then all this nonsense stops and the crew are treated fairly and the people who won't tip are stuffed.

Hear Hear! Fed up with hearing the moaning about tipping. Include it in cost of cruise and be done with it.

  10. We have emailed customer services Florry...in a polite and friendly manner! To see if perhaps any obc would be forthcoming or perhaps an upgrade....the reply was basically that you know when you book that prices may go down....definitely no obc but MAY have a higher grade cabin when allocated.....no sympathy at all.

We are caribbean tier so are regular p and o cruisers but loyalty does not seem to count these days.

That's been my experience too! Only ever cruised with P&o. I'm also caribbean tier. That's why next year I'll be looking elsewhere.....in fact already started. :)

  11. We were upgraded from deluxe balcony to suite last year. (Not a free upgrade)

It was noisy. Scraping chairs and footsteps til early hours. But if you're a night owl it shouldn't be a problem. Didn't feel comfortable with a butler although he was very nice. The breakfast in Seventeen as it was then was superb, probably the only thing worth upgrading for.

Been in suite , deluxe balcony and C deck ordinary balcony staterooms and prefer the C deck balcony. The cabin is not enormous but balcony is big. Booked one again for September cruise. :)

  12. LottieA why would P&o offer to refund hotel bill, did you book through them?

We are booked in there Saturday and I'm beginning to worry. Have phoned hotel and asked for rooms at the back. Usually stay at Novotel but when we stayed there in April and tried to book for June they wanted nearly double the amount for same rooms. Thank goodness it's only for the one night

  13. Yep! The lessons are very complete beginners and in my opinion they are a reasonable taster but learning a particular dance isn't easy in one lesson. The last cruise we were on had the lessons in the Atrium. I don't understand why the spectators don't join in. Surely that would be even better fun. It's a chance to learn to dance where nobody knows you.

There's no room to join in! The lessons are very popular and it's such a small dance floor. Be much better if lessons were held elsewhere.

  14. Hi all booked our first p and o cruise yesterday on Oceana 2nd sept ,we had a good price for a mini suite c2grade saver fare at our local ta.How long will it be before we know our flights ,dining arrangements and cabin number etc, we have cruised 5 times before with thomson and decided to have a change.any advice tips etc gratefully received thanks in advance

Lucky you !! I think mini suites on Oceana are as good as suites on other P&o ships. Have a lovely cruise :)

  15. On our cruise on Aurora last September the Art classes were held both am and pm and lasted 2 hrs . The pm one was a repeat of am. Some people went to both. I think it was about £20/25 for the pad and paints. I enjoyed them but my friend wasn't very impressed and only attended the first two.
