  1. My Wife and I actually purchased the Resort for a day pass for this resort last year on our cruise on the Dream. We felt we got great value out of it. There was plenty to do, drink and eat. Drinks aren't the "best" but they serve the purpose. Pools are spacious and clean, beaches were decent with nice water. The food that we ate was really fresh, and tasty. Our experience with the Cheeseburgers/Hot Dogs/Fries were exceptional. We would absolutely do this again if in Jamaica. Good luck!

  2. We had a Cove Balcony on the Repositioning cruise in April and it was AMAZING. Extremely private, spacious, and relaxing. My personal opinion is that being that close to the water is very cool. You can feel, smell, hear the water. By no means am I suggesting other Balcony cabins are not great cabins, but we will definitely be cooking a Cove Balcony every time we sail in the Dream class ships.

  3. I can't believe i wasted 4 minutes of my day watching that. She gave virtually no insight as to why she disliked Carnival. For me, ill be happy that the next time i get on a Carnival cruise i wont have to worry about someone that narrow minded will be on the ship!

  4. We just got off the Dream on Nola on Monday. Had a 12:18pm Flight. We were zone 26, and if we stayed on the boat until they cleared zone 26, we would have never made it. We went to Guest Services and asked to get off the boat at 9am to ensure we made it to airport safely. Getting off the boat was fine, but getting our baggage was a NIGHTMARE. We did make it to the airport in time for our flight, about 40 minutes to spare, but it was extremely stressful. If you have a flight before 1pm, i recommend getting priority tags from your Cabin steward or do Self assist debarkation.

  5. You are going to Love having the camera! He has a few different mounts...the extended one he uses the most. It is called a QuikPod and I bought it online. There are other similar monopods out there that you can get on Amazon that are a little cheaper. He does use it in the ocean, but I would suggest making sure to rinse the sea water off of it.

If you are planning on using it in the water...I would suggest the floatly back door. This will ensure that if you drop it, it does not sink.

There is more cruise videos on his Vimeo page that you can check out for other ideas. He gets a lot of his shot ideas by just looking at others online. The more vacations we go on the more he comes up with.

    Have a great time!

You are the best! Thanks for the great information. Ill be sure to share my "un-professional" 1st video when we get back!

  6. Awesome video! We just purchased the Silver edition to take on our upcoming cruise. Looking to document our vacation in a video similar to yours! Thanks for all the ideas.

I do have one question. What kind of mount did he use for all those shots of you guys walking, together, etc? It looks like an extended handle, but not sure how long it is? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  7. That priceless express Is what I'm looking for!...thanks everyone!---I think I am going to just take my chances and not say anything..she won't remember cabin #'. Or deck plans anyway. Or anything (as I filled the online documents in myself without here there).

Seems like I should be able to get away with it!...If I don't crack!!!--so hard not to say anything!

She's so excited to go! ... heeheehee

I am in the same boat, pun intended! I upgraded us from an Interior to a Balcony as well. Somehow i need to get the GoPro in the cabin to catch the priceless moments on video!

  8. We were on the Valor back in August and after fighting the crowds in the buffet area the 1st morning, we ate breakfast in the dining room the rest of the time. It did take a bit more time than the Lido Buffets, but you are definitely more relaxed and are able to have conversation with your table mates with out yelling. IMO, the food was always fresher as well.

  9. I have given my "opinion" of the Valor and I am glad others have had a different, more pleasant experience. I also hope anyone else choosing the Valor has a wonderful experience.

Having also recently (August 2013) cruised on the Valor, I too had a wonderful time and would consider this an excellent itinerary and trip. The OP simply gave their opinion on their "view" of the experience. Their negative experiences clearly did not disrupt their "fun" level. We, too, has negative experiences while on board. For instance we had a Lido Interior room and the AC was functioning marginally at best. 76 degrees was their acceptable temperature. After having two maintenance visits and one "warm" night of sleep, we got a fan from our steward and helped the situation. Did it take away from sipping a cold drink on the beach at Magens Bay? NO WAY....but I venture to guess that if we dream of having a "Perfect" vacation we are not accepting reality.

Thanks to the OP for their views and opinions, that is the reason we all come to sites like these. In spite of some similar issues we experienced, i still would highly recommend this ship/itinerary to anyone.

  10. Just did this cruise 2 weeks ago, and I had originally planned to do the same thing and stay on board in St. Kitts because the island just didn’t sound that appealing to us, and I was afraid with soo many ports that we would be exhausted by the end of the trip.

In the end we decided to go to Frigate Bay and spend a day at the beach, (we bought the $35 day passes at the Marriott which is right on the beach which allowed us to use the pools, and their lounge chairs, facilities, etc. But buying the day pass is not necessary if you just want to enjoy the beach.)

I am SOOO glad we decided not to stay on the ship because St. Kitts was amazingly beautiful. This actually turned into one of our favorite ports of the trip! I really think St. Kitts in an underappreciated island, and I would not miss it if I were you.

I would say my least favorite port of this trip was St. Thomas, but of course it is the first port, and also there is a sea day the next day, so its prolly not a good option for staying on the ship either. Honestly each of these ports is so unique, that if you have never been to them I would get off the ship in all of them and enjoy the islands.

This is exactly what we were thinking in planning for this cruise. However, we too got off the boat, we went to Cockleshell beach/Reggae Beach and had an absolutely AWESOME time. We are sooo glad we got off the ship that day. It is breathtakingly beautiful and different than all of the other islands that you will visit.
