  1. I think the majority if cruisers want the added service charge included in the fare and not added on whilst cruising. I can only assume that this decision has been taken due to many people taking the gratuities off. I certainly hope that this is not a negative move for the hard working staff.

  2. We have been on Oceana, Ventura, Aurora and this year Azura. My preference would be Aurora, I preferred her size. Entertainment on Ventura and Azura is geared up to the younger cruiser, whereas we felt Aurora was aimed at the 50+ age range.

  3. I wait until I have paid the balance to get insurance as once when I had insurance early I had minor surgery so told the insurance company who charged me extra to add the condition and to change the policy.

  4. We used CPS last week and queued for 45 minutes in the holding lanes. This is the first time we had to queue in 9 years, we did arrive earlier than our allocated time, but when we got into the terminal we were ushered straight through to check in.

  5. We were in Azura last week, we watched the football there. Picture quality was fine but by the end of the match there were quite a few pixel blobs showing. It is a shame that they only show certain films in the playhouse as we watched The Showman there and it must have been 3 quarters full. We also watched The Post in Malabar, but some films were only on the sea screen.

  6. We have just returned from a wonderful cruise to Norway on Azura, we did the first itinerary with Flam, which was spectacular. We booked the train with P&O but if we get to go there again, we will go to the ticket office which is a 2 minute walk from the ship when we dock. I sat on the balcony watching lots if people doing this at 8.00 am and then return to have breakfast.

  7. Just off Azura today and yes, football not being shown in cabins. Watched the first game on the sea screen whilst travelling upto Norway. Other areas it was shown was in Brodies bar and the room near the Playhouse theatre.

  8. I did not think, apart from strictly cruises that P&O went in for this type of cruise, I know that Royal Carribean does. I like the Osmonds but don't suppose Donny will make an appearance, looking into it, it is just Merryl and Jay onboard so do not think it will make much of a difference. If Donny was onboard, now your talking.

  9. Unfortunately the online booking for the flam website is misleading, it says fully booked from 7.30 till 4.30 on the day we go, but will look when we go next week to see if this is actually the case as looking on other peoples reviews there is always availability. Never mind it is something we have been told is a must to do so we are doing it at a cost of £84 each opposed to £51 each!! Hey Ho.

  10. We are hoping to book on-line ourselves for later in the year, but I was wondering what sort of time to book - I can't find out what time we will be arriving in Flam.

We are the only ship in Flam that day, but even though I have checked several sites I cannot find an arrival time.

If anyone has got any idea, it would be appreciated.

    Michele

We are going next Saturday and our ship is apparently due to dock in Flam at 8.00 a.m. We looked to book ourselves online but the only availability showed as 7.30 a.m. and returning 4.30 p.m. so we booked with P&O. There are 6 of us so didn't want to take the risk of not getting on.

  11. Since the demise of the sailaway band and the muster taking longer and later, the sailaway is now nearer to dinner time.

Also a lot of people used to try to get onboard around 12 noon, where as now some people are till waiting to get onboard after 4.00.

If the weather is good there will be people there.

I must admit we have not been to a Southampton sailaway since 2012 and tend to watch from our balcony.

  12. I was told by a cabin steward that if the tips are removed they are still paid the same as long as the feedback is excellent. So seems to confirm the original post.

I agree on our last couple of cruises, the cabin steward was so determined to get us to give an "excellent" rating on the end of cruise questionnaire, in the 7 days he must have mentioned it at least 3 times.

  13. Out of all P&O ships, Azura is the one that seems to get the best reviews, going on her 3 weeks today, our first on Azura on C deck but nearer the front, so hoping we get a good steward. In 7 cruises, we have had all excellent stewards apart from one, who was a bit miserable as he was going home after our cruise so understandable.

  14. We love both and are intending to eat in Sindhu for my birthday in a few weeks on Aurora. Now what if that clashes with Indian night in the buffet?!

Zoe, I would book this before you go, Sindhu is not very big on Aurora and was full when we cruised last June for the last 4 nights in a 7 day cruise. Indian nights in the buffet do seem to be on a formal night so maybe that is why it is not always well attended.

  15. My reason for the original question is because my favourite chardonny comes in a 2.25 litre box and not bottles.

I wondered if P & O would regard this as a gross infringement of their policy or might be a bit flexible.

If there are 2 of you, you could try your luck, otherwise drink half before you leave/embark. As others have said it seems to be an honesty situation so its up to you to decide if you want to risk it.

  16. We are booked on Azura on C deck in cabin C329. We have been in this cabin on Ventura so are hoping that it will be as good. We have been in C401 and C405 and although these are nice and central and near the lifts, there is a considerable saving getting a cabin nearer the front.
