Thank you so much!! We know about the esta (learned that the hard way last year - ha!). We did not have the link so thank you for that!
She said: "I've checked Mexico and I just need to complete an immigration tourist card on arrival".
^^ I think that is if you are arriving by airplane and not cruise???

We are Americans, but will be traveling with a British Citizen this summer. It looks like she has to get "visas and/or tourist cards" from each country we visit? Does anyone have any experience with this and can send me some advice? I think we might be making this harder than it needs to be!!
Our travel agent sent her the following message:
"Please be advisedthat you or any traveling companions who are not U.S. or Canadian passportholders must verify proof of citizenship and visa requirements with theembassy, consulate or immigration office of the countries listed on your cruiseitinerary.
It is very important that all travelers present proper documentation for everycountry on the cruise itinerary whether or not they have plans to disembark theship in every port of call. Arriving to the pier without a passport, visa orany other required identification will result in denied boarding.
While I cannot advise you on these requirements, I can connect you with theembassy or consulate for the ports of call on your cruise itinerary. Pleaseclick here and choose your country ofcitizenship from the list. Then select each country on your itinerary forembassy contact information."Ports:
Royal Caribbean - Liberty of the Seas
Galveston
Cozumel
Grand Cayman
Jamaica
It looks like everything has to be done BEFORE arrival (since it's by sea and not by air) .... "Arriving to the pier without a passport, visa or any other required identification will result in denied boarding."
Thank you!!!

We will be staying in Lyon following our cruise next month. We are staying at Hotel des Artistes, a recommendation from Rick Steves. We'll probably take a cab from the ship to the hotel.
Thank you all for your recommendations. We booked Hotel des Artistes. Valley Girl - would love your opinion on it after you stay next month.

Hello,
We are looking for a comfortable and safe hotel to stay in for 1 night very near to the port where Monarch Countess will be (which I can not find an address - just know it's near the University of Lyon ... and on the River - Ha!). Would anyone have a recommendation? We are arriving 1 day early, we do not speak French, and a little nervous about getting to the port on our own.
Any tips on getting to the port? Nearby restaurants?
Our River Cruise will be in October.
Thank you,
Cindy

Yes! It's a great option especially when traveling with a family of 5 and is usually less expensive (everything costs twice as much - hotels, car rental, etc). It worked for us, but it wouldn't make sense for the owner to book it for 1 or 2 nights and still offer their (usually) better rates. We have 2 self catering cottages in Seabrook, Texas and the minimum stay is 3 nights.

Wow, this thread is awesome! I'm taking screen shots of all the suggestions (New Forest, etc). We probably will only have 1 night, but trying to decide if we want to stay in London in a Princess hotel (get them to shuttle us and our luggage to the terminal, but it is very expensive). It would be fun to explore New Forest even if it is for an afternoon before jet lag gets us! After the cruise, we are renting a car in Southampton and traveling North for 5 days --- staying at the Broadgate Farm Cottages in Beverly -- then to London for a night then home (probably stay at the very comfy Sofitel @ Heathrow).
Tip: When searching for guest houses in the UK use the key words: "Self Catering". Maybe it's just me, but I was more successful than searching under "bed and breakfast" or "guest houses". Obviously, self catering means you'll make your own breakfast ;)
