  1. We are on a transatlantic this fall. With all the sea days, the Ultimate Dining Package is an AWESOME deal since you get dinner every night and lunch on sea days.

BUT, we have a few questions and hoping some of our CC family can help us out!

    1. 2 adults, 2 kids (7, 12). Will the kids have the $10 cover charge at lunch like at dinner?

    2. reading fine print, this is what we see and we are looking for clarification:

[For Cover Charge Products], Children between the ages of 0-5 are complimentary and ages 6-12 are $10 per child; children must order from the kids menu. Please reserve product for all guests who wish to dine. Adult price will be applied for all guests regardless of age; the difference between the adult price and child price will be refunded in the form of a refundable onboard credit (unless booked with non-refundable credit, in which case OBC will be non-refundable). For Dining Packages, children ages 12 and under are excluded from offer.

    3. further down in fine print, we see this:

For Dining Packages, children ages 12 and under are excluded from offer; children ages 6-12 can be added to reservation for a $10 cover change once onboard

I guess what we really are asking is if you have done this with the kids, did you just do adult reservations ahead of time and add the kids on board? Also, was it a $10 per meal for the kids to be added on? We are looking at up to 20 meals if we eat all lunches and dinners in specialty dining. If we are paying $10 per meal per kid, that is not worth it...

Thanks for anyone that can shed some light on this!!!!

  2. It was free on the TA cruise, but apparently has a charge now. We did it on the TA for free, but it WAS a lot of fun - we would do it for the $9 a person. Our only problem is that they don't do different puzzles, just the same one, so if you solve it, you know the answer, and if you don't solve it, I hear they tell you the rest so you know how to solve it, so it's a "do it once" kind of thing.

  3. Of course! DH is not a soda drinker, so I take a tupperware bottle for him. He gives the room steward an extra tip the first day and asks for ice. This tends to have ice waiting for us at least once if not twice a day. He fills it up with ice and sometimes tap water, other times he lets the ice melt for cold water. I also have some thrity-one bottle thermals to help keep his water cold. This way he can walk all over the ship with cold water and even when we are in ports.

We also take some of his fave drink packets just in case and I take some of my fave as well. I DO get a soda package, but sometimes I would rather have water, although I many times to flavored water from the machine.

  4. The BOGO NOW states it must be done nights 1 and 2, but when we booked in October for our oct/Nov, that was NOT the case. That is how we were "able" to do that.

Now, whether one could still "get around" that, I don't know.

What I DO know is that we have done 2 cruises where we booked specialty and they did NOT do our first reservation for us - so we plan to do specialty later this month and will book our nights once we get on board. We just haven't decided how many nights to purchase as we have the kids with us this time around...

  5. I used a HUGE one to pack my body pillow for our TA - with us flying to Barcelona, we needed to pack things tightly. I used a vacuum bag and vacuumed the air out at home, flew to barcelona, and took my pillow out once we got on the ship. I didn't worry about vacuuming all the air out when getting off as we got off in fort lauderdale and were just renting a car to drive home.

That being said, we are driving down to fort lauderdale later this month and I am not bothering with the bag. It is just easier for me to put my pillow (which I don't sleep well without) in my big suitcase and pack an extra bag if we are driving.

I do the kids in ziplocs especially so we have a few ziplocs of clothes for port days in case there is an accident when out and about, especially for our 5 year old.

If space saver bags work for you, then go for it! Even the vacuum ones - you can always ask to borrow a vacuum on the ship!

  6. thanks everyone! We were wondering if the aquapark was just not popular enough to warrant pre buying.

DS wants to do it. I would rather lay on the beach and sleep. We don't tend to do much for shore excursions in general, so while I appreciate the wave runner suggestion, it is not something we would consider right now.

If anyone hears anything about the Dreamworks Princess Poppy experience in the next few weeks, let me know, otherwise I guess we may try it and give our thoughts!

  7. 21 days to Freedom and we have some questions:

    1. 11 year old wants to know if Aquapark is still there and a shore excursion option. He did it a little over a year ago and wants to do it again...

    2. I want to know if anyone has done any of the dreamworks Poppy experiences - 5 year old loves Poppy from the Troll movie and since her b'day is right after the cruise, I thought of getting her one of them for her b'day present....

Hoping someone can give us some insight on these!

  8. We will be on Freedom soon and I have a few Labadee questions:

    1. We went just over a year ago and our now 11 year old had a BLAST at the Aquapark. It is not an option in our cruise planner - so is it not available anymore?

    2. I see a NEW experience or 2 for Labadee - with Princess Poppy from Trolls - anyone done either of them? I have a 5 year old who LOVES Poppy.

    Thanks everyone!

  9. We had a promenade room on deck 8 of Freedom several years ago and LOVED it! Being able to pwople watch and parade watch feom above was GREAT! Since then, we have had 1 regular inside room and 2 balconies. We got balconies because we got a great deal on them. We love the ability to hang out on the balcony, so we would love to do more balconies. I have taken a nap on ours and we have watched the stars. If the price isn't right, I would gladly do another promenade room for the "view"!

  10. Do you have a link to where they show tat Solarium Bistro on Oasis is only for Suites and Pinnacle club members. I cannot find any reference to that and all I see is coastal kitchen stating it is for suites and Pinnacles.

If Solarium on Oasis is for higher status, then could it be that it has changed? We are gold and sailed on oasis in may and made 2 reservations in solarium.
