  1. What on a ship and/or cruise is important to you?

Honestly, I just love to cruise. So nothing important. Just nice crew, relaxation and maybe some nightly entertainment. I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice who had been on both ships. :)

Neither, try a dream class ship.

I've been on the Dream and the Magic, I'm not a fan of the huge ships. I liked when I sailed the Valor/Victory/Destiny (before she was sunshine) lol

  2. I was fortunately offered one of the free cabins from Carnival, though I am just starting a new job I can't let this offer go to waste. Two friends of mine and myself are looking into a short 4-5 day getaway from Port Canaveral since we live in Orlando. I wanted to see what the pros/cons of the Sunshine and the Sensation would be? I know about the Sunshine just being dry docked and the Sensation being older but I wanted to check on some opinions. Please let me know, I trust y'all more than I do reviews. :) Thanks!

  3. Yup I would definitely call back and speak to a different PVP. On my cruise in Sept the prices kept dropping and dropping and I called three different times and each time I called throughout the months I was given an upgraded cabin, by the end I had gone from an interior cabin to a balcony cabin. I don't know why they told you no, someone just didn't know what they were doing. Good luck and enjoy your cruise !! :)

  4. Both ships are great! Elation was my first ship back in 2005 and I sailed the Dream at the end of April this year, that's a tough choice. If you're looking for more intimate, I'd take the smaller ship. The Dream is pretty massive and I agree with what everyone has said about knowing the staff and what not, also I did not find all the staff on the Dream to be that great.. but I never had anything bad to say about the Elation. Yes it's older and needs some updating, but it's still a great ship. :)

If the kids just want the slides, Dream definitely wins that though. Their water works is so fun.

  5. I went on the Dream in April and the Magic two weeks ago.. I truthfully preferred the Magic. The staff on the Dream just didn't do it for me, not sure why but I never got a good vibe and I was judged and steroetyped several times to my face for being "Young". I thought the Magic had more to offer and I was just more pleased with the way they did everything. Cruise Directors also matter to me, I had Jamie on the Dream (She was great) and James on the Magic (He seemed a little snooty and not approachable). But I'd choose to sail the Magic again before I went back on the Dream. :) Truthfully I'd choose one of the smaller older ships like the Conquest or the Victory before sailing any of the big ships again. ;) haha

  6. So if you were a Texan how would they know Wether or not you left the State within 48 hours:confused:

Seem like all you have do is say you are heading to Louisiana to finish your vacation :)

They have you show proper travel arrangements to prove you are leaving the state and not staying. At least that's what it said.

  7. Hi what is the process the passenger go through when they disembark in Galveston Texas, In finding out if you purchase liquor and tobacco product or is it just cigerrattes and how much the new tax on liquor? Is it on the honor system or do they search your luggage?

Is there now two sections you need to get through first custom then texas tax station?

Hi! I just got off the Magic today in Galveston. They stated it is just for Texas residents, if you are leaving the state within 48 hrs you don't have to claim it. I didn't save the paper telling us all the prices for the taxes but I remember 750 ml alcohol was $3.75 and a carton of cigarettes was $15.00. They do not search your luggage, it is an honor system. It is a station AFTER you go through customs literally right before you walk out the door and they had someone there asking if you had cigarettes or liquor, no search or anything or even asking everyone that came out, only certain folks. That's about all I know lol.

  8. Go to Galveston dot com....in search area, type in web cam....scroll to one of several cruise ship cams...you will see the ships tied up. If not, you will see FOG. Both Carnival and Royal will arrive around 5a to 6am on Sunday morning.

If you are on Triumph, check their departure days.

    Thanks, I will! :)

  9. We were on the Triumph last week and were delayed about 5-6 hours because of heavy fog. We were driving so flights were not an issue. Just getting home late. We were on the same cruise last year and no problem. The crew was really good about putting together activities and keeping everyone entertained and Jen was great about keeping us informed.

Thanks, Spenc! Every bit of information helps to ease my over worrying mind.I'm glad to know this is a hit or miss situation. I hope you enjoyed your recent cruise (Minus the small delay haha)

  10. I have stayed in Miami twice before for cruises and both times I have stayed at the La Quinta at the airport. This is the link. ( http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?propId=4040 ) They actually do provide a shuttle service to the port for a small price (I've always driven so I'm not entirely sure but you could always call and find out!) And lots of cruisers choose to stay here because they can leave their cars there for free and take the shuttle! Hope this helped, enjoy your upcoming cruise! I've always wanted to go on the Breeze haha. :D

  11. Thanks everyone for the tips! I probably should have mentioned that while I live in Orlando I lived in Houston for 23 years and that's where my parents still live and I'll be home for the holidays.. so no flight for me near that time thankfully! I'm just such a control freak that when I heard of this fog I got nervous! :)

    Thanks though! :D

  12. Hello everyone!

So, I am heading out on a Carnival cruise from Galveston at the end of December. I've sailed from Galveston before but never during the winter season. I've been reading some things as well as searching forums but I thought I'd try to address the situation head on, so here's my thread! :)

Has anyone sailed from Galveston during the winter months before, and how bad was your fog delay and should I just expect it going into it? Just want to know what to expect so I can warn the other girls in my trip and keep them calm as they are newish cruisers. :) Thanks for your time !

  13. I went on the Dream in April and yes the lido deck is non-smoking, but all they had to do was take the outside stairs up to deck 10. The ones right there by the bar! Lots of tables and chairs set there to smoke, I went up with my friends haha That's why I remember.

So, it must have started before I went! lol

  14. Personally I think you should fly in closer even though it is $100 cheaper to fly into MCO. I am an Orlando resident who has driven to Miami many many times for cruises and it takes a minimum of 4 hours to get to the port. With small children traveling I think it would just be easier. You wouldn't have to rent a car or fill it with gas, etc.

If you stopped in Boca and stayed, Boca is probably 3 ish hours from MCO. Traffic wise it depends which way you take. You can take the turnpike (Toll road) or I-95 (They LITERALLY are side by side at one point where you can visibly see one another haha), and I feel like the turn pike is quicker because more people take 95 not wanting to pay the tolls.

I hoped this helped a little with your decision! Enjoy your vacation!
