Yes!! The grilled pineapple is the beat thing on the cruise!

We rented a car before and after our cruise, and it was much cheaper than taking cabs. The shuttle driver at our hotel told us that one cab ride from our hotel to downtown would have been as much as our car rental.

We were on the Star last year and the embarkation was a nightmare for us too. We went on the Getaway this year and embarkation was 120% better. Don't let the Star scare you away from NCL. From my experience it's better on other ships.

One night I started reading your diary on a whim and got sucked in. I read everything that first night and waited in suspense for new updates. Thank you for the great story and congrats to you and Kel!

My parents, my sister, and I all shared a mini suite on the Norwegian Star last December and we were fine. The bathroom was a little bit of an issue, but other than that we weren't in the room long enough to feel too crowded. My sister and I shared the pull out sofa bed and had plenty of room. We're larger girls and I'm 30 and she's 25. I don't know how other cruise lines work or if your kids are different sexes, but I would think you'll be ok.

We sailed on the Star last December and loved her! We really enjoyed the bar tenders in Gatsby's and we did the martini tasting there. You definitely get your money's worth. We did the deluxe boat tour in Cabo and it was awesome. We saw many whales and the guys on board were amazing. It was all you can drink and our drink was never less than half full without another one showing up. The Red Lion has free popcorn everyday and they usually have live music or karaoke at night. We paid for Moderno and loved the salad bar there. As far as main dinning rooms go we liked Versalles best. There are usually cookies and snacks in the buffet later in the evening between 9-10. We enjoyed the magic show, acrobats, and comedian, but weren't too impressed with the juggler.
I hope you have a great time! We're sailing on the Getaway this December.

I just returned from my first cruise and I tried to pack light. The only things I wish I would have packed are binoculars, a clothes pin or two to hang wet clothes on the balcony to dry, a power strip, and a few large zip lock bags for last minute wet swimming suits. We did just fine without these things, but if you have the room in your luggage you might include them. Also, we spent an additional week in California and ended up needing to do laundry before getting on the ship. Those sample size packages of laundry detergent would have been way cheaper than what we bought from the hotel. Happy cruising everyone! I can't wait to do it again.
