when we went last week, the view on the tv in our room which showed where our path was and where we were at at the time, showed a direct diagonal straight line from NYC to bermuda. so if you were to draw a straight line from nyc to bermuda, that's what it showed.

When we went on friday, there was no sign, and nobody took it from us when we got on the ship. who knows! We only took a couple of pieces and there was only one other couple there. it is cool because it is all in the water too!
I just tried uploading photos, but it wouldn't let me :(

I wanted to thank you for all the boat tips! we had a great time! We were able to snorkel the vixen, snorkel around daniels head (didn't see anything), and check out seaglass beach. it was a great time! if we go again, we will do a full day rental!
-
it was somerset. for a four hour rental it is $165. while H20 charged by the hour. I just added it up, I guess it is about the same, H20 being $5 more. oh well! it doesn't really matter, we are going to have a good time no matter what!
-
that map is PERFECT! I just printed it out :) that will be very handy for us next week!
thank you for posting it

I am very thankful to you for pointing it out to me. It would have been AWFUL to have gone to the dockyard and find that they're not there! my dad had it booked in st george! YIKES! we would never have had time to get there and back before sailing off.
we ended up finding another place which isn't far from the dockyard, and it was a little cheaper even! so whew! We didn't use H20. it was too expensive.
-
yep. emailed and you're right. their website is VERY misleading. it says there even on the boat rental that it is dockyard included! that is BAD. he looked up my father's reservation and said it was reserved in st george. I had him cancel it. now to find another rental place.
-
When you leave the dockyard, ask your taxi driver to point out Sea Glass Beach. The landmark is 4 minty-turquoise buildings side by side. You can see these nicely from the water - just aim for the 2 middle ones.
Once you get closer inland, you will notice something that used to be a "dock" (I use the word loosely, more like a rock/coral slab). The glass is on either side of that.
And a reminder: wear water shoes !! Do not get off the boat at Sea Glass without water shoes !
I have about the same info at Mitsugirly in this thread, but has some pics
We all have water shoes, so we are all set there, phew! :) :) :)

I copy and pasted this from k s website.
K.S. WaterSports offers boat rentals across the island and departing from three convenient locations. (Hamilton, St. George's & Dockyard)

sea glass beach was one of the things I wanted to go to, but crossed it off of my list because I didn't feel like walking there. :) so by boat would be fab! what are the landmarks from the ocean to find it?
-
oooooh! that sounds like SO much fun, thank you!

KS watersports out of the dockyard. we were planning on doing the vixen. What else is close by?
-
Should we try and find wrecks to snorkel at ? or is there something better to see by boat? we have four hours :)
-
can you point me to more information about this? how much does it cost, etc?
-
i guess I am thinking more about hurricane season and the possibility of getting some rain from remnants of a storm and it being a wash out while we are there. :)
-
thank you! :) hopefully we will have sun!!!
-
I have a plan for our 3 days if it is sunny, but no idea what we can do if it is rainy. we could do the aquarium, but what else?
-
thank you, I'll have to make sure I put that information in my bermuda stuff just in case they don't have them at the ferry terminal.
-
I'm reading conflicting information about whether or not one can purchase the ticket books at the St George Ferry Terminal. That would be where I would like to get them I think, but some say yes and some say no.
-
excellent, thank you!
now to figure out the most economical way to get them :)
-
how do the tickets work? is it just one ticket per person from one stop to wherever you're headed, or do you need multiple tickets if you are going a longer ways? and does it work much like the 3 day transportation pass where you can use it both on bus and also ferry?

Best snorkeling experience ever! there were so many fish of so many types and it was absolutely amazing. I haven't been to Roatan, but I've been to many islands and snorkeled at various sites, and the snorkeling at chankanaab was the best I've encountered thus far.
-
well, it looks like we've made our decision and we will be splitting off into two groups. you've all been so very helpful! now I know how to get around to get to those turtles without much stress!!

my ship is out of tampa fl, so est
Bermuda, on your own, on the cheap?

The taxi drivers can give you a tour, they were telling us about it :) They said it is about $12 an hour per person to do so (I think for a family of 4 he said). they can take you around the island and tell you everything you see.
Alternatively, you can see the island by boat. rent a boat and stop at various places around the island. it is really cool! snorkel the vixen shipwreck, wow wow wow! sea glass beach. some other beaches around. there are some great snorkeling spots you can hit up if you like those.
Or, take a ferry and then a bus to tom moore's jungle and see the caves and swim at blue hole. there are 2 big caves you can explore, one wet and one dry. swim in the cave, SO fun! would only cost you transportation to get there and back.
