  1. Thank you for tour reply, Yes they are on cruise personaliser already, they came on yesterday, the sos came on Thursday and the trips came up about a week ago. I have booked a couple of dates. I was also wondering if they don’t open on those evenings.

Hi, we’ve done several new year cruises and I remember the last one we did the new year select restaurant bookings didn’t come on until quite late and were more expensive than usual. I suggest trying back each day. They are very popular so will go quickly and worth doing. Good luck and enjoy [emoji3]

  2. We came back on Sunday and we were asked if we were happy with everything, with regards to our steward, yes we were - best Steward yet in 15 cruises [emoji4]. We were honest with both the questionnaires, happy with everything except the overall entertainment. Not trying to open up tipping thread, and am not going into detail on what we did, but having reduced our automatic gratuities rather than removing them we seem to have avoided the letter.

  3. Just off Ventura today and they showed Astonishing on the formal night (think it was the third formal out of four but not 100% sure). We’d been on the two nighter directly before too and it was shown on the first night. Well worth seeing if you get the chance.

  4. Can anyone advise what our best plan for breakfast would be on the changeover day

Hi...I would have breakfast in the MDR....considerably more leisurely than in the buffet. Also I would insist on sharing a table that seats 8/10!!....then you can sit back smugly and " commiserate" with the folks that have to leave the ship.:D

Thankyou that’s a great idea I’ve never had breakfast in the MDR, sounds like the perfect opportunity.

  5. We’re on our first back to back in June on Ventura and I can’t wait to go up and down in the lift, or maybe spend the evening circulating in the buffet so I can answer the inevitable question as articulated by Dai[emoji4]. I simply can’t wait I’m so excited! Can anyone advise what our best plan for breakfast would be on the changeover day? We’ve never had breakfast on the last day before. This might seem like a minor detail but trust me it all adds to the excitement [emoji3][emoji3]

  6. Hi Selbourne enjoy your first back to back! We've got our first one planned for next July and would love to hear how the process works. Everything from what's open during the day on board in Southampton, do you have to do two musters and how you get your new cruise cards. If you get time please could you post. We're really looking forward to wandering around when there's virtually no-one on board. Have a good cruise and hope you have more success getting into ports [emoji4]

  7. Hi, we were on the same cruise. At Palma we took the shuttle and had a leisurely walk back to the ship. We did see the shuttle in Souda bay but the information at the port was very confusing so we ended up on the public transport €1-2 return from memory, also saw a P&o shuttle on the way back. We were a little frustrated by this as it wasn't clear at the port that a shuttle was available. In Katakolon it is a very short walk to the town from where the ship docked, taking only a few minutes walk at a slow pace. Mykonos - I definitely wouldn't recommend walking the roadside looked perilous, we took the shuttle in and caught the water bus back - definitely recommend the water bus €2 return to take you straight into the harbour, a much pleasanter experience than than the shuttle. Can't comment on Gibraltar as we walked (yes it is a long walk) and Piraeus we took a ship's tour. Rhodes is a very short walk.

I would like to say it was a fantastic cruise and hope anyone else going gets as much enjoyment from it as we did [emoji4].

  8. Almost loathe to add to the debate as I agree with the let's just enjoy our longed for holiday point of view. But thought I should add the following facts into the mix.

We have recently received our Holiday Information pack and p43 Dressing for Dinner says "blue or worn denim............are not permitted in ship's public areas during the evening". Then under Evening Casual "Smart dark denim is also fine".

Also my husband has been turned away from the Metropolis Bar (Ventura) after dinner when he had removed his jacket on formal night despite still wearing formal trousers, shirt, bow tie etc. I guess this is very much a matter of luck in which member of staff is policing entrance to the area. Needless to say we felt a bit miffed.

Sorry none of the above provides clarity. [emoji52]

  9. A few years ago we did a 17 nighter to the Adriatic, Venice etc. My best memory is spending time at the deck bar at the back of the ship, lounging in the lovely cushioned rattan chairs whilst watching beautiful sunsets. It's also a very good venue for the Hawaiian party night. We usually cruise on the larger family friendly ships so did find Arcadia different but it has its own special appeal and our cruise on her remains one of my favourites. Sure you'll have an amazing time. Enjoy!
