  1. Dubai cruise on VOTS, scheduled to cruise 27th March 2017, flying in from UK.

Has anyone bought alcohol (wine) on arrival at Dubai International airport and do you require a license if you are a UK passport holder/residence/

Planning on taking 2 bottles of wine on the cruise but not sure where to buy them within Dubai.

Appreciate any help from the community.

  2. Few questions about Dubai and the cruise on VOTS, scheduled to cruise 27th March 2017.

    1. Can you buy alcohol (wine) on arrival at Dubai International airport and do you require a license if you are a UK passport holder/residence

    2. Can we still take 2 bottles of wine on board per stateroom

    3. On a transatlantic cruise on the OOTS from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale we purchased a wine package for lunch/dinner, cannot find anything like that for VOTS Dubai cruise. Have RCCL stopped doing this package?

Appreciate any help from the community.

  3. The one great perk, that is no longer a secret!!!

Much more than 20% off of booking price, if done through Casino, obviously only applies to VIP members.

Have done this for last few years and saved a bunch.. More gambling money:D

As for drinks being deducted from your rebates, minimal IMO and we have a drink in hand every minute we are in the casino.

The rebate rate was explained to me and it is not that straight forward, win or lose you will be comped.

It is calculated more on rack rate and time played.

If you are betting $50 per hand at Blacjack, $25 a spin at roulette and $3 minimum per spin on Slots, then your % on rebate will be higher.

Would agree in the range of 10%-20%

If you are playing poker all night, casino is making minimal money, so you would not be rated or invited to be VIP.

They get buy in and Antes and that's it!

    Be Lucky!

And let's hope the perks get even better and do not expire each year:cool:

We like to play slots so how do the drinks work out, do we pay for all our drinks in the casino or are they free or can we get drinks vouchers from the casino manager!

  4. Hi, I am going in a cruise on Adventure in 4 weeks with a friend from the UK.

His passport has expired. Does anyone in the UK currently know how long renewals are taking please?

    Thanks :)

Renewed mine 2 weeks ago using the Post Office check system, received text to say they have received my application and on the 9th day received further text to say Passport is being printed, received old passport 10th day and new passport on the 11th day! :)

  5. "I highly recommend Total Wine if you plan to take the permitted two bottles when boarding. It is a large wine and spirits supermarket with a vast selection. I was also able to buy Schweppes Slimline Tonic and I did notice they also stock Fever Tree mixers"

Great thread, absolutely brilliant and informative.

I note that you took on aboard some non alcoholic drinks with your 2 bottles of wine, I assume that if I took sparkling or still water in my carry-ons than they are not likely to be confiscated by security!

  6. Drinks included with your basic cruise fare are coffee, hot tea, iced tea, tap water, some flavored waters, white milk, chocolate milk, lemonade, fruit punch, juice (not fresh squeezed orange juice - charge for that).

There is a charge for soda/pop, such as Coke, all alcoholic drinks, bottled water. There is an individual charge slip to sign and an automatic 15% tip.

You can check out one of the drink packages and see if you think it would be to your advantage - really depends on what you like to drink and how much.

Thanks, Although we like our drink I think we will buy as we go along as I dont think we are likely to drink $80 of drinks everyday between the 2 of us.:)

  7. Just booked our 2nd ever cruise, Southampton to Fort Lauderdale on the Oasis of the Seas. The first one was the Med cruise with Costa Serena.

Few questions for which I would gratefully appreciate your answers.

    1) Some of the beverages including drinking water are included in the package so is there a need to buy the water package!

    2) The Oasis docks at Fort Lauderdale at 0400 hours on Monday 27th October 2014, so do we disembark at this time or later.

We have opted to spend a couple of nights at the Hyatt Regency pier 66 and explore Fort Lauderdale before flying back to UK.

    3) Are there any shuttle services between the port and hotel
