  1. Was this on the Horizon? Curious about the extra bit of ship extending out from the balcony. What did you think? Was it annoying, or did you still get to enjoy the view of the water & wake? We have 2486 booked. I've only ever had a regular balcony, so I've got a whole bunch of nerves and excitement over this pick lol But I'm traveling with my parents & my 4yo, so I thought having access to the FH lounge would be a perk, and I thought this was a better option than a cove under the galley. lol

I didn't mind the extra space extending out from the balcony. You are so close to the water it didn't make that much of a difference. A cove is next on our list of cabins to try! However, I will try to stay away from the galley if at all possible. With the FH aft balcony I like the fact that there is nothing overhead of you. If you like the sun, you will like it too. Keep an eye on your little one! The balcony railings will be easy for them to climb. That would be my one biggest fear with the aft balcony. The FH lounge was a really nice perk. Super easy to grab some breakfast and bring back to the room to enjoy on the balcony. Have fun!!

  2. Did you get noise from being under the dining room? I'm hoping not a lot of kids take off from school for this 2 day cruise on Horizon (sept 20th)... Thanks for the warning though.

No noise from the dining room, but you will have noise from below. Under the aft cabin on deck 2 is where the lines are stowed for docking and anchoring. For us, we were fine because we like ship noises! But if you don't, you may be disappointed.

  3. We loved the Havana Cabana cabins on the Vista! Loved the outdoor pool/hot tub/bar area. We were on the 11 day Vista Repositioning cruise and didn't want to leave! We had a great time and missed seeing a lot of the ship because we stayed in the Havana area so much!! If you're traveling with friends this is a great area to be in!

  4. I just sent off a fax yesterday, not using the form, but requesting the shareholder's credit on 3 bookings, b2b2b. I always include:

    my name

    Booking Number

    Ship Name

    Sailing Date

    Voyage Number

    phone number

    email

Separate page - brokerage statement or other proof of share ownership

All of the above items are requested on the form itself, and as long as you give them that info, they should easily be able to process your request.

The credits were posted in less than half an hour yesterday. The form is not necessary, but complete info is really helpful.

I do the same. I include all info on my fax transmittal and have the proof on second page. 2 page fax. Super easy!!

  5. We are on a 5 day:

    1. Funshops rum 1L

    2. Bring 2 bottles of wine (1 each) with us (think this is still ok)

    3. Get 3 bottle vineyard package

    4. Each of us get 2 Pina colada type drinks per day when not in port (and make it a real drink with our rum[emoji12])

This gives us a bottle of wine for dinner each night and more than enough to drink during the cruise. I estimated around $100 or more savings over cheers.

Perfect! You guys found the formula that works for you! We would need to add at least a bucket of beers....we tend to get thirsty...just not Cheers! thirsty on a daily basis!

  6. Besides getting Cheers, give me your best savings ideas on a 5-day cruise? Bring a bottle of wine/per person, order a bottle for the room, anything else NOT fraudulent?

We've done the Cheers! package many times and found it not to our advantage on cruises longer than 7-8 days or so. My body can't handle 7-8 drinks a day for 8 days and I cringe at the thought of trying to maintain that level of liver torture for our upcoming 14-day cruises!

That being said, we do like to embibe [emoji484][emoji481][emoji485][emoji483]...so we will be buying one or two bottles from the Funshops before we sail. They will be delivered to the room on Day 2 (we sail out of one of the "odd" ports) Then we will also buy as we please while on board. This is what works for us. We did a cost analysis over 2 cruises. One with Cheers and one without. Made really no difference other than stress us out trying to break even!Everyone is different. Some might say the Funshop bottles are pricey at $80 (which includes a six-pack of mixer) but for a 1 liter bottle you can get roughly 22 shots. At $6 a shot on board, that 1 liter of booze would cost you $132.

  7. Folks message him asking for "freebies" all the time. I'm sure he must be sick of it.....

JH specifically asks that pax request items for their cruises. Usually they're requesting freebies for door prizes or raffles for group events on board. Also, he has mentioned many times for people to let him know if you have a special event while cruising. He wants to do this...or he wouldn't suggest it! Probably why you see a lot of requests! 8. Thank you for the pics bakersdozen12! Puts a lot more clarity to the deck 2 aft cabins.

I've switched our booking to 2482 too JaniceB. Not sure what the thing is on the balcony on the diagram/floor plan. My guess it is what we see in between the 2 cabins on the right in the pic. Time will tell.

We'll be on the TA from Barcelona so I don't think the kid issue should be too big of a problem. FH was a bit of a zoo on the Vista Repo, but then that cruise was over the Thanksgiving holiday. I bet not too many families will be flying kids to Barcelona to cruise back to NYC....we may see more European families. Again...we'll wait and see.

Interesting. You can see the difference when you compare the ships. The Vista is on the left, and you can see how the very aft part of deck two isn't being used for anything. Whereas on the Horizon you can see the new balconies. They actually look pretty nice, even if you can't look down and see the water. Definitely enclosed and private. Smart move on Carnival's part to utilize that dead space.

I decided to try one of these cabins. I saw that 2482 was available and changed my cabin to it. I hope I made a good choice. I can't wait to see what it looks like when finished.
  9. Good to know I have 2 rooms booked aft balcony in the corner 2482 and 2480

I'd be interested to hear how you like 2482. I am contemplating this cabin for the Horizon TA. I like the quirky floor plan...and balcony of course.

A little unsure of what is on the balcony from the floor plan design. Also looks like the partition on one side angles in a bit, slightly obstruction the view out the window.

Here is an aft view of the Horizon.

  10. I may be off the mark on this but given the layout of the original Deck 5 Havana Cabanas, which we knew from the beginning were not going to be super private....why be worried about crowds now??

The way I see it, even with the addition of 22 more cabins, the per capita ratio between pool and people is still better in the Havana area than the rest of the ship. If you work the numbers there will not be more than 250 people in the Havana area (and that's a VERY high guestimate) Now think about the rest of the guests on the Vista....what is it? Over 3,500?? And how many other pools are there???

I think we will be just fine. I seriously doubt every body booked in the Havana area will be vying for a lounger at the same time.

Granted it's not what we originally booked...but we also knew we were booking a "work in progress". It is not uncommon for contractors or designers to submit change orders during the process of construction.

Let us not worry until we have reason to worry!

  11. All literature I've read states Havana bar and pool are for the exclusive use of Havana guests. At 5pm Havana bar an pool are available for all guests. Not sure how this is confusing.
