  1. So does this mean that the Haven area is cancelled? I was hoping that it would be complete by Thanksgiving. Has anyone else heard any updates?

No it’s not cancelled. Just a very slow version of the walking dead. You’ve heard of the swimming pigs? It will get done; it just might take until the pigs fly!!!

  2. I can't believe that issue is still going on several years later. I honestly don't think you will have an issue. A spa employee will most likely be in the Haven lounge on the day you board. Simply buy your pass from them. We did end up having to pay the additional $20 per person but it was worth it to us.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I'll have an issue either. It's just a pain and I want to be worrying about what drink to order next, not buying a spa pass!

  3. For what it is worth, I thought I would add some recent information to this older discussion. I too am having issues purchasing a thermal spa pass online. I am on the Epic for a December 2018 sailing (77 days out) and recently upgraded from an H9 to an H4. I originally booked last year (Sept 2017) and the spa passes were never showing as being available. And I get that; the system should default to not allowing you to inadvertently purchase a spa pass if you already have one! With the upgrade, though, the system still shows as not available. I know for a fact they are available for purchase because another passenger on the same sailing just purchased a couple of them online.

After several calls to NCL and eventually speaking to a supervisor (after being placed on a very long hold) , I am told the issue is the system still recognizes the original H9 booking. The passes are in fact available for purchase now - just not to me and there is no by-pass around the system and the only option is to purchase once on board. Apparently this is a known issue with the NCL booking system.

I don't mind so much having to pay the extra $20 once on board. My issue is I don't want them to sell out. I know once on board, spa staff are in the Epic Club as part of the welcoming committee so I won't even have to go to the spa to purchase so I doubt I should worry. I just am a Type A personality and want everything taken care of BEFORE getting on the ship. One less thing to worry about, ya know!

The concierge desk did say they are going to e-mail the ship to see if they will honor the pre-boarding price savings since it is the NCL system not allowing me to purchase a pass. We'll see.

  4. Simply put, as far as the ship goes, they are as far apart as you can get. The Haven is at the front of the ship and a couple of decks up. The Haven Spa suites are on deck 14 and near the back of the ship, literally adjacent to the Madera Spa. That said, it's really not a bad walk unless you have mobility issues. It's a trade off of having access to the SPA included with your room. You can always try to purchase a SPA pass if you want to stay in the haven proper, but they are limited, sell out quick, and run about $250 per person, depending on the length of your cruise.

  5. yeah, IF it ever gets done. The last press release from NCL touts completion in the Summer of 2017. Really??? They are over a year behind schedule and have provided no updates to the schedule? And when you call to inquire they act like they don't even know any construction is going on. Literally, I called today and was told by the public relations team, "we have built everything that we're going to build...there's no more construction going on".

  6. No, there is not. I'm booked on the Epic in a Haven spa suite and am curious how the "White tablecloth in-suite dining" is handled. NCL not very helpful in answering that question. I'm guessing it's a tray set on your counter with the tablecloth thrown on the bed! :):):):)

  7. oh, and I should add that you can use any shore excursion credit you may have toward the rental price. And, ff you are a Latitudes member, you get a discount that can be applied. For me, I got 10% off for being a Silver Latitudes member and also have a $100 per port shore credit so my rental price ended up being $417.

And don't forget you also get a $50 food credit, although I'm not sure what value that actually is when the food is free and you also have the UDP?!?

  8. The prices are set in stone for your cruise and will not change. The rental price for a cabana depends on the ship and date you are cruising. NCL sets a higher price for the larger ships. We sail to GSC in December on the Epic and our rental price is also $575 for the small cabana. That has been the price from day 1 when I booked my cruise back in October 2017! $575 is too steep but, frankly, I'd rather spend that and enjoy my day with my spouse in peace and serenity rather than fight for space with 4000 other cruisers! That's just me, though.....

  9. Hi All:

I was wondering if anyone knows what the status is of the construction upgrades to Great Stirrup Cay? They are building a new Haven retreat and construction was supposed to be completed some time ago. It has gotten behind schedule due to the hurricanes. I am traveling in December of this year and staying in the Haven and am wondering if the upgrades will be completed or if I should book a cabana instead. I suppose a cabana would be a waste if these upgrades are completed.

Anyone traveled there lately and have an update? Any idea on the ETA for completion? I contacted NCL and they were pretty useless in providing any new information and there is nothing on their website either.

    Thanks for the help!

  10. Sounds a pain in the butt gift that half the cruisers dont like or want! What with emptying the mini bar now an extra bottle of Bucks Fizz type stuff, they really should ask past or frequent cruisers to fill out a suggestion questionnaire. I realise most cabins have to have the same stuff provided but.....

It's like the towel animals, lovely the first time, slightly irritating the second by the end of the cruise, you feel like stringing the whole towel supply together and swinging off the balcony into the sea! [emoji35]

On a polite note, Latitudes Rewards start at which level? It's our second NCL cruise so unsure as we all collect Latitudes don't we?

Apologies if anyone is upset by my looking a gift horse in the mouth. We did actually go and watch them doing a demo of these towel buddies. I hope you enjoy looking at what they made [emoji51]🤦🏼*♀️

Lattudes Rewards start at Bronze and you are automatically enrolled at that level upon your first cruise. You earn points in the following manner:

    • Earn 1 point for every cruise night.
    • Earn 1 additional point per night for booking in a Suite* or in The Haven.
    • Earn 1 additional point per night when booking a Latitudes Rewards Insider Offer.

Here's a link to the benefit levels: https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program

  11. It's usually there before you are.

Is it chilled? I've had this before and couldn't use it for a day or so later because it wasn't cold. Would be nice to have it cold when we got to the room so we could drink it right away with the strawberries during the sail away!!

  12. Ive booked room 14141 Epic spa balcony as on the spec the balcony looks bigger as its triangular however Im concerned that this may be one of the few wheelchair accessable rooms. If this is so, and if there is a need for the room for a wheelchair passanger, will we be forced to change cabins and would we possably get a free upgrade?

How did you like this cabin? Im booked in the same room for my 30th anniversary cruise.
