  1. Look at East Wall Road south of Alexandra Road on a Google or other map of Dublin, and you'll see the general area of the Dublin cruise port. You could walk to town, but there are no sidewalks and you would be dodging truck traffic - not very pleasant.

Most cruise lines run shuttle busses which usually drop off at the top of Kildare street, a short walk to the Trinity College entrance nearest the Book of Kells exhibit (highly recommended).

    Thanks!

  2. We tend to use Premier Inn hotels. Our last stay in July was at one at the Dublin Airport. They are not luxury hotels but are clean and well managed. They do not provide ice nor wash cloths. However I have stayed at several "high-end" hotels in Britain that also didn't have ice nor wash cloths. The beds are very comfortable. You need to be careful to reserve an accessible room.

    Thanks for the info!

Whether you go for a wheelchair or a scooter make sure that it is a bariatric wheelchair/scooter to easily handle your weight. My husband uses a bariatric Everest & Jennings Traveler wheelchair and a Pride Victory 10 bariatric scooter. Both provide him with good mobility and freedom to explore. Best of luck!

Also depending on the reason for your disability there are organizations that can lend you a scooter. For example, someone with muscular dystrophy may contact the MDA and get a scooter on loan. Just a thought.

Another thought is to go to a medical supply store and personally check out different models for comfort, etc. before you buy new or used from somewhere else.

  4. Canyon Ranch is a very big improvement.

Wait for port specials for a better price.

Have not experienced upsell..not happy if that is starting up.

I do like the Elemis products..available on line but the therapists at CR seem better and mor uniformly trained

Thanks! I also enjoyed the Elemis products.

  5. Thanks for info I'm bringing a scooter for the first time I had the Same question.

Can anybody give me advice about getting food at a buffet. Do people get in line with their scoters.

Also I am going to take the advice to contact cruise line regarding table location for MDR

Who do I contact at the cruiseline to make a table change request. I will be on RCCL Harmony of the sea.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    We travel on Celebrity.

My husband gets in line with his scooter and is able to manage nicely. Staff and fellow passengers have always been helpful. Usually one of the staff will insist on carrying his tray back to our table.

    Enjoy!

  6. I always make advance contact to ask for a table near the door.

Your hubby will be okay to drive the scooter to the table but then they'll want to take it away and park it. You say he can't sit in a normal dining chair, so you might have to consider taking a wheelchair and him and sitting in that to dine.

All of the speciality dining options on Infinity are scooter or wheelchair accessible but as before, they're going to want to park a scooter outside the door.

    .

Thanks! Great suggestion about manual wheelchair.

  7. We were on the Infinity for Halloween 2014 and a good number of people dressed up. Friends of ours improvised and made togas out of bedsheets, so if you want to dress up without taking up luggage space, keep that idea in mind :D Have fun!

Thanks! That was one idea we had; another was getting dressed up as Fred and Wilma Flintstone.

  8. We're on the October 27 sailing, going to Key West and we've just read on the Key West Port Schedule that we're set to be docking at the Outer Mole and will need to take a shuttle to the main area of the island.

Has anyone got any experience with this? Can you ride them in a wheelchair/scooter??

Any info anyone has would be appreciated!

  9. It's a few blocks away from the port entrance!

    Shops you can walk to:

    Ross

    TJMaxx

    Dollar Tree

    Total Wine

    Prissy Hen Consignment

    a few boutiques

    CVS

    Walgreens

    Publix

    Winn-Dixie

Thanks! Do you know if Total Wine has a good selection? I've never heard of them.

  10. I have not stayed at the hotel, but have visited friends who were staying there. The hotel is very nice, and the rooms are actually suites. I would stay here if my favorite Hyatt Place is not available. There is a TJ Maxx just behind the hotel, and a Ross store across the street. There is a Publix supermarket and a Total Wine store near TJ Maxx, also many restaurants in that area. It is convenient to the port. Probably 20.00 taxi to the port, maybe even less.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for.
