  1. We're on the Reflection next week and when I checked initially several weeks ago, there was no dining package available. There also were no individual reservations available except very late in the evening. Several days ago, I received an email offering a dining package; when I checked, sure enough, a four night package was showing. Maybe someone canceled. In any event we didn't grab it, as dining times would be too iffy for us.

The reason they are limited is because they actually reserve some tables in the restaurants for people with those packages to dine at popular times. We did something similar on RC last year and I had the same concern. They assured me that they actually block out some reservations for those with the packages to dine. On RC we ate at 7 or 7:30 every night. In general they seemed flexible for those with the packages. Hope it's the same with X.

  2. I booked the 4 Restaurant package a couple months ago for our March 14th cruise. When you book the 5 package you have to go to Tuscan twice from what I have heard. So we booked the 4 package for the 2nd night of the cruise and will do a discounted restaurant trip on the first night or MDR. Just an idea if there are still packages for the 4 specialty restaurants available :D

  3. I have a probably dumb question, but I have never had onboard credit before sailing. If you want to reserve something, like an alcove before your cruise, can you do it using some of your onboard credit or do you have to wait till you are actually sailing to be able to use any of it?

I know on RC you could only use the OBC while on board. I imagine it's the same for X

  4. Your name will be on a placard on the table in one of the alcoves; that's how you'll know which one is yours.

You have use of it all day (technically it is 9am-9pm); you can come and go as you please.

When you first arrive, an attendant should come by shortly and introduce himself. He'll bring you a couple of bottles of water, and also a fruit plate at your request.

You can order lunch (small charge) from the Porch and the attendant will deliver it.

There is a phone to call the attendant any time you need bar drinks. (However, we've found the attendants (who also work in the Lawn Club Grill) to be stretched thin, and usually find a server from the Sunset Bar and ask him to come around and check on us. We tip some each time to ensure that they'll remember to keep checking on us since it isn't really their normal area.)

You can request the canopy to be either up or down and the attendant will adjust it. If it's too windy it will have to stay down (retracted).

Furniture-wise, there's a sort of chaise lounger that you can sit or lie down on, a chair and ottoman, and a coffee table.

There is pretty good people watching from the alcoves, as you have a front row view to everyone who comes to have their pix taken in the giant adirondack chairs, or comes to walk around on the grass for the first time, etc. One day they had an officer v. guest bocce tourny on the lawn in front of us.

Did you enjoy your experience? Did you reserve the alcove for a port or sea day?

    Thank you!

  5. Hi jaydc2,

Nice to hear you actually read my review, and didn't just look at the photos... :)

As regards the extra miscellaneous bit and pieces, I will be happy to do this if it is of genuine interest. So far, there are only about 7 or 8 folk interested. So I'd hope for another dozen or so to indicate some worthwhile level of interest.

    Regards

    Hi megacruiser,

Awesome review.. Thank you so much for taking the time. I've learned so much!

I'm sailing with jaydc2 on April 5th as well and am very interested in any extra info you can share.

    Thanks!

  6. Continuing to... follow!

On the Central Park map there is a "retail store" next to the Parkside Gallery. Is this the location of the Coach store? We believe it used to be MK, but recently switched to Coach.

Honestly, I don't know the difference between Coach and MK... but my 16 y.o. daughter certainly does!

I believe it is coach but during the watch sale sometimes they sell MK watches :)
