I have a question about when you tender. Can you go ashore, come back to the ship for lunch and then go back to the beach for the afternoon?

    Thanks

Yes! You can go back and forth as much as you’d like within the scheduled port time

Thanks for letting me know about the dining.

We are visiting Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk. We have already booked a cabana at Amber Cove, and we are not planning on doing any Carnival excursions at the other ports.

None of those are “water shuttle” ports as carnival is now calling them.

Thanks everyone! I’m not sure if any of our ports are tender ports, but if they are it’s great to know this will help. Also, does FTTF help with Anytime seating?

What ports are you visiting? FTTF helps with dining preference but not anytime seating.

Ok, thanks for your quick answer! I’m working on it!

Edited... booked FTTF for both cabins. Hopefully, it’s worth it.

Can anyone who has done it before tell me their experience and if they it’s worth it.

It’s very dependent on your vacation style so he responses you get will vary.

For us we love it because

    1. We are not yet platinum and enjoy starting or vacation ASAP, so we enjoy getting on earlier and being able to head straight to our rooms when we get on to get settled.

    2. Any port that is a tender port, we get priority when debarking the ship. We have pretty much stopped booking carnival excursions, so this allows us to get to where we need to be on time.

Other perks (I use this loosely because sometimes they happen, sometimes not) include: priority luggage delivery and priority guest service line.

  5. In mahogany bay we grabbed a cab and headed to west bay beach. Drivers took us to his friends restaurant paid $10 for beach chair and WiFi all day. It was quiet and calm.

Belize we did caye caulker and snorkeling. Saw tons of fish. Even some eagle rays. Booked through trip advisor. Caye caulker is a neat little island

  6. We love it and will continue to purchase it on every cruise. To us the best part is not having a bill at the end of the cruise. Plus it's great to be able to grab a milkshake or bottled Powerade and not have it all included. The alchemy bar is our favorite place to grab drinks and at $10-$12 a pop we definitely get or money's worth

  7. Greetings people of Cruise Critic. My wife and I booked our 6th cruise for later this summer, and it will be our second cruise on the Breeze (our favorite ship).

Anyway, we will likely be purchasing the Cheers program for the first time on this cruise, but I had a few questions I wanted to pick your brains about. Regardless of the answers, we will still purchase it, but I wanted to avoid any embarrassing "Oops that's not covered" moments on the ship. I read the description of the drink package, and know in general what is and is not covered, but I there were a few gray areas. I may be overthinking it, but the wannabe lawyer coming out.

    1) I know that the standard drinks are covered. I am assuming this means everywhere on the ship that serves alcohol except for the mini-fridge, room service, and in room packages. Does this include specialty venues as long as they are single drinks under $50? I am specifically thinking about Punchliner, Alchemy, Bonsai, Piano Bar, Casino, etc?

    2) I know that "full bottles," e.g. of wine, are not covered. Last time on the Breeze, I used to love to grab a sake and a tuna roll at Bonsai. Would sake count as a bottle since it is normally served in a little mini carafe, or would it be covered? (I guess I am asking if any sake lovers can verify).

    3) Lastly, I know there is a 15 drink per day limit. Since the plan also covers pop (soda for folks outside the Midwest), Powerade, large format water bottles, fancy coffee, etc., do those count toward the 15/day limit, or is it only for alcoholic beverages?

Anyway, thank you for reading my nit-picky post, and let me know what your experiences have been. I tend to overthink things, but would love to know for sure :D

I can answer 1 and 3 for you.

    Yes it includes those places

Only alcoholic beverages count towards the 15.

I'm almost positive sake is included but Dont have experience with it to give you definite answer

  8. I have a problem with this card distribution system. I work for a major resort with thousands of hotel rooms. Room keys are personalized with guests information and allow them to charge any resort goods or services to their account. Much like on the ships the time between previous guest check out and check in time is a flurry of maids, bell boys, rooms men, maintenance, florists, and suite coordinators. At a security meeting staff fell about laughing at the idea of putting room cards in the hallways.

Now I don't care if the room cards are sealed in an envelope, and stored in a lemonade jar under Funk & Wagnall's front porch they are exposed to whoever walks down the hall. This means neither the ship or the guest have control of a means to charge to an account. Worse yet, it is easy enough to clone the cards allowing Mr. Thief access to your cabin.

If the goal of ship's management to prevent people from entering their cabins early they can easily use the door lock system to prevent use before the appointed time.

I think it is nice to have a check in person verify your documents and hand you your "key." It is they way hospitality has been done for centuries.

Hotels also don't have a picture attached to the key. Every time you purchase something on the cruise your picture pops up making a lot harder to get away with stealing. Also the time between you noticing the key is missing and them being able to do damage is pretty small. Once you get to your room you'll know if it's missing and can easily report it.

  9. Just a general question for this: You want to purchase a drink but you're card is waiting for you when the cabin is ready. But you can't get to your cabin yet because it's not ready.....what do you then? Especially if you don't have priority boarding or FTTF........

They use your boarding pass until cards are ready

  10. Yes there are several within walking distance.

Next to the pier is fishermans wharf, nono Tony's and Olympus grill.

Directly across the street is Starbucks and jimmy johns.

On the strand. 1 block from pier. Fuddruckets, brew brothers, la rumba, Mediterranean chef, tsunami, yagas, stuttgarden, and shrimp and stuff.

My favorites are yagas and fishermans wharf.
