Would it be possible to make a 11.15 AM flight after disembarking Seaourn Odessey May 1, 2019 if we took our own luggage off the ship?

    Hi,

Before accepting the first response you get. Everyone has different experiences at airports and in general the more time you have to transit anywhere equals less stress.

You don't say if you are booking flights or the flight is already booked.

If booked, is it booked through Seabourn's Flight-Ease?

The ship is only 450 +/- pax so getting luggage off in the first off load is not difficult and something you can arrange on board.

If you are travelling to a non Schengen country then the suggested arrival time at BCN is 3 hours prior to flight time.

  2. Hopefully what Im asking now will be acceptable and if not I can be appropriately scolded....

I've seen pricing with some big online TA's that would save us with a combo of discounts and onboard credits about 9 or 10 %. Is there any reason not to book with the big online consultants ? I realize we wont get personal attention, but is there any other downside ?

Sorry to have to comment again. Apparently you have found your itinerary with this cruise.

You are trying to book on Seabourn. Discounts & fluff as in OBC's are not generally what motivates Seabourn'ers to sail. Again I ask why do you think this cruise is for you? Maybe another cruise line?

    Just try'n to be real.

  3. Sunprince ... as was clearly explained to us from a very reliable maitre'd on Odyssey "it's not what you know, it's who you know". Don't deal with the Square people, talk to the person running the grill at the front end.

Or any of the dining venues for that matter.

  4. A cruise we are booked on for October was just reduced $1,000 after we did our final pay. This is not a pleasant situation. I know they are not about to return money. What do they do in a situation like this? We usually cruise Regent. They compensate in some manner. Often there is a choice of a better cabin or a credit toward your next cruise.

This may prompt a fast return to Regent. We cruised Seabourn only once before and found it a pleasant experience. However this significant price reduction after final pay is most distasteful .

Suggestion for you. Rather than moaning on a public forum why not try talking to the TA you booked with or if you booked with the SB Reps. What do you expect people here to do for you?

  5. Regarding the lack of shade - is the pool deck design on Encore almost the same as the 3 smaller ships? I know that the food serving area is at the other end, but I am trying to understand the lack of shade issue. I find that the 3 smaller ships have insufficient shaded areas around the pool too (the poor staff had to put up multiple umbrellas every day when we were in the Caribbean earlier this year - otherwise we would have all died of heat stroke!) . Generally only one row of loungers on each side of the ship are in the shade and that is never enough, particularly for those of us that want to avoid the skin cancer risk. Is the shaded area the same on Encore and there are more passengers putting even more pressure on limited space, or have they reduced the actual shaded area on Encore? I have no idea why a designer would fail to appreciate the need to provide adequate shade! Even removable shade sails would be better than no shade at all.

Seabourn must really be crazy to release the Ovation with the same design flaws. Or is it that all the newcomers from the mass market lines think they are in paradise on the Encore????!!!!!!!

Cruising kirby-we thinks you are over dramatizing a bit. We were on the same Carib Ody cruise as yourselves. Heat stroke? Really. Relax mate ... enjoy the ship for what it is.

  6. When at a port of call where we may want to do some snorkeling independently, will Seabourn loan us some snorkel equipment to use for the day? I'm not certain that they carry such on board, but thought they might because of the marina.

Thanking you in advance for any info.

Sorry .... as a certified diver, why would want to use personal equipment that is "public use"?

The only shared equipment of that categoryI can think of might be Fins, or a Floater if you need it.

  7. Hi Wolverine, the dress code is throughout the ship. We were on Caribbean cruise Dec past, our 1st Seabourn, you can get by quite nicely with a jacket, no tie on formal optional nights. I didn't bring tux or dark suit as we were staying on an island for month after cruise and didn't feel like the additional baggage.

Elegant casual worked fine for me especially in Restaurant 2. We stayed away from MDR and club cocktails on formal nights as there were guests dressed formal and I respect their feelings.

2nd week of cruise a large group of Brazilians came aboard and dress code flew out the porthole!!
