  1. I feel like I'm coming back home after sailing on Princess for a while. We've been on three NCL cruises and thinking about booking the Breakaway out of New Orleans for April 2022. This will be for our 50th anniversary. We have previously sailed this itinerary on the Spirit and really love it. Any words of wisdom regarding the Breakaway? I notice on the NCL website it says 2 for 1 deposits and 30% discount on 2nd person ends today. So I'm kind of trying to decide today whether to book or not. Surely this Covid mess will be much better by then. Thanks.

  2. We will be sailing on the Harmony of the Seas next year (Eastern Caribbean). This will be our first RCI cruise. We have sailed on Princess a number of times and really like their cruises, but we can only sail in October of next year and like the Harmony itinerary plus like the fact we will be sailing out of Port Canaveral. Can anyone clue me in as to the differences between the two cruise lines. Thanks in advance. We have always wanted to sail on one of the "big" RCI ships and this is our chance.

  3. This should be an exciting cruise season for you and G. The Golden was our first Princess cruise and is the reason Princess is our favorite cruise line. I was hoping you would be sailing on the Crown in December because I was hoping to meet you. But maybe some other year. I follow your blog closely and have gone back and read all the previous blogs. Have a great three months of cruising.

  4. You will get OBC for the new cruise. Amount will depend on the type cabin and the length of the cruise booked. You can also by a Future Cruise Credit and get the same benefit for booking with it after the cruise.

    Thanks.

  5. I think that folks usually have a cruise line that is their favorite and when they go on any other line, they go in with a pre-established idea that this cruise will not be as good as my favorite line. Our favorite cruise line is Princess and when we've tried other cruise lines I constantly find myself comparing the ship I'm sailing on with a Princess ship and always wish I was back on a good old Princess ship. I just feel comfortable with Princess. This has happened with me when sailing on both NCL and Disney. On the other hand we have friends who's first cruise (and just about every other one) was on Disney and they didn't really care for Princess. I don't know if it's brand loyalty or what. That is why I'm hesitate to try anything but Princess. On the other hand my wife keeps talking about sailing on one of the "big" RCI ships. The more I've thought about it, I just don't think I want to be on a ship that big. To each his own.

  6. Sailing on Crown Princess in December out of Ft. Lauderdale and staying at the Embassy Suites on 17th St. the night before the cruise. I figure we'll just take a taxi from the airport to get to the Embassy Suites. But what is the best mode of transportation to get to the ship the next morning? Does anyone know if the Embassy Suites provides a shuttle to the port? Thanks.

  7. What about soft drinks like Diet Coke? Are they included? Really looking forward to this cruise even though it is a long way off. We had booked the same itinerary on the CB in January, but had to cancel it because of some conflicts out of our control. Glad to rebook and get the beverage package. Thanks for all the information.

  8. So I checked and sure enough we got the package. We have never had an all inclusive beverage package before. So I know this is a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway. When they say all inclusive, do they really mean that? Are there any daily limits? Say I want five beers a day, can I get it? What about two glasses of wine at dinner? Mixed drinks? This sure will help our cabin charges.

  9. I just booked a cruise on the Crown Princess for next year. I did the booking online on the Princess website. When I booked the cruise, it fell under the category for getting the current all inclusive beverage package for balcony cabins. I am looking through the emails I got back from Princess though and don't see any mention of the free package. Is this usual? I looked online at the booking also and didn't see the free package mentioned? I just want to make sure we are getting that promotion.

    Thanks.

  10. Right now we are booked on the Caribbean Princess for the first week of January. Thinking about cancelling that cruise though and booking the Oasis for the first week of February. We are keeping our grandchildren a couple days a week and the first week of January just doesn't work for us. We have never sailed RCI but have sailed Princess, NCL and some other lines. We have always wanted to sail RCI, especially one of the "big" ships. Plus we like the idea of sailing out of Port Canaveral.

So I guess here is my question - will we notice much difference between the Oasis cruise experience and what we are used to on Princess and NCL? Things I like about both these lines - dining when we want and with whom we want and not having to dress up in a Tux or suit on Formal nights (I typically wear dress pants, button down shirt and a tie). Will we find these same things on the Oasis? I really want to give RCI a try as they have been on our bucket list to try for a while now.

Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated, before I make the change.
