  1. Did this Valor cruise a few weeks ago (first week of January), loved the ports and the ship (although did not love it as much as the Liberty for some reason) but we are also booked this coming December on the Magic same ports.

We were very excited to see the Magic come to PC (a drivable port for us) and as we really enjoyed this itinerary it was a no brainer for us. The Magic has a lot more to offer being bigger and newer although the Valor is being upgraded. The ports were a given for us but the opportunity to book a bigger ship in PC really won us over for this upcoming cruise.

I would go with Magic given the choice you are looking at.

Thanks! We have booked the 7 day on the magic and are set to go for 9/17. It sure will be fun as we have not been to any of the itineraries yet. We have done the western Caribbean and Bahamas but not this one. I'm hoping the upgrades goes well for the magic in March or whenever and that they post YouTube videos. That be cool!

  2. I just read she was getting all the 2.0 upgrades in Feb-March2016. I hope it's true. I sailed on this ship and enjoyed but it will be nice for it to have guys burgers and the better Mexican food. Steakhouse was awesome.

I heard the same thing. The magic is coming to cape canaveral after the upgrade sometime. I can't wait to sail on it in September. I'm just hoping no bad weather comes! Lol

  3. Wow so many good opinions... I don't want to quote/reply back to everyone but here goes....

My wife and I take these cruises every year in September for our wedding anniversary. We go for the shows, good food, comedy, and all the other stuff on the ships so the magic is the best comparing to the valor right? I heard the magic is even getting some upgrades to. But we also go for the itinerarys and the Amber cove is new so I thought it be fun to try but from what I'm hearing on other reviews it's not the best. I do wish I could go to st Maarten and st Kitts but isn't St Thomas a good one to??

This cruise we might not be doing much excursions just getting off the ship and exploring since the cruise itself was little over budget for us lol.

It does sound good to pay the $100 or so for the 8 day but I feel like the magic is the best choice. Plus I just talked with the wife and she said that the 7 day cruise is just fine. I wouldn't complain since she is willing to even go with me lol :) plus the day before we board the cruise ship will be fun being in port canaveral.

I have booked the 7 day on the magic but only paid the deposit. I just found the 8 day on the valor for only $100 more but I need help deciding if the itinerary on the 8 day is better or should I stick with the 7 day I already have?? I mean for one more day on a ship it's only $100 more in total for 2 people but I feel like the magic is better than the valor. Let me know your thoughts and opinions!

  5. I had the American table menu for the first time on my cruise earlier this month and I didn't notice any small servings in fact as usual I was unable to finish the entree at any meal. Of course maybe that's because I like to try the different appetizers and I usually order at least 2 appetizers in addition to the entree. Like the entree, I usually don't finish every bite of the appetizer. If I did finish the appetizers I wouldn't be able to even taste the entree, I'd be so full.

Ya for the appetizer I always love the little bread rolls and the salads. But for my meal... LOVE the flat iron steak!!

  6. The American Menu was in the MDR. 5 or 6 oz portion of chicken or fish (I only had steak in the Steakhouse) and sides were tiny. I came home the same weight as when I left......but climbing the stairs instead of using the elevators (even with a hip replacement, fused spine and arthritis) certainly helped.

Got ya. Thanks for the info! I used the stairs a lot to just because it's faster lol

  7. Just off the Magic on 10/25. It's a clean, new looking ship, with a pretty good crew, helpful and cheery. Except for the casino and photo nights, there wasn't that much crowding. I was able to get a Serenity Lounger each time I went up there.

Not sure I like the small portions of the American Table menu, but I came home the same weight as when I left. Steakhouse was excellent. Slides and ropes course were fun, and it was nice to have a true wraparound deck for outside walking on 5.

Room service banged on my door one morning at 5:45AM when I didn't order anything, grrr.

The disembarkation was horrendous with an ineffective CD and helpless crew just watching the stampede of passengers trying to get off the ship in any zone order.

I hope that won't be repeated when I return to the Magic on Nov 8.

Small portions of the American menu? I'm little confused. Was the buffets or the dining restaurants lacking of food?

  8. We were in an OV on the Riveria deck in March. There isn't really much room to look out the window and the window was filthy anyway. We felt quite a bit of movement, especially coming into port. I got used to it though and I slept better than I think I ever have on any vacation. My review is in my signature if you'd like to read.

As a first time cruiser, I found the ship very easy to navigate. Really my only complaint was the food. We did have a couple of really good meals in the MDR and the Tandoori was awesome--I wish I had tried it sooner. I think the addition of Guy's and/or Blue Iguana will help immensely.

A cruise is what you make it--so just go and be prepared to have a great time! Your itinerary looks awesome. I really hope to cruise out of FL one day so we can do the southern itinerary.

What part of the ship were you in? Middle, back, or front of the ship? I have the mid ship area on the lowest deck that has rooms (I think it's the riveria) but I sure hope I don't feel the movement that low because I was told I wouldn't feel much

Your right... A cruise is what I make it. No matter what I try and have fun

  9. I am booked for 11/29/2015 on the Magic. This will be my second time on this ship. The last time was several years ago. It was a great ship! What is the "American Menu" being mentioned? Like others, I wish there were a Guy's Burger Joint on board. I did not exactly select this particular cruise.....others in my group made this choice. I do think that most any cruise is much better than no cruise!

I agree all crew ships should have the guys burger but the carnival magic looks to be getting the guys burger in the next several months when it goes in dry dock and gets all the upgrades. The ship is one of the larger ones and also have all the upgrades by the time I am on it in sept 2016 which means the carnival magic will be the best!

  10. Hahahaha! I swore on the cruise the pillows were flatter than these. They sit too high and hurt my neck so I just use them to prop myself up in bed when watching tv. Maybe we should measure the thickness [emoji6]

Ok! Let's measure and see who's pillow sits higher hAha. I will lay my pillow on level ground and make sure the pillow is fluffed up then measure. Lol. I will be happy with the ones I ordered. The king sized pillows are filled more according to the website so I might order them for the heck of it and see what they feel like. The more pillows on the bed then the better off we are
